With so many choices to pick from, it’s not exactly a coincidence when style stars like Michelle Williams and Kate Bosworth select feminine frocks from the same London-based label.

Best known for micro floral prints and unabashedly feminine silhouettes, Erdem has become an offbeat industry darling. After Claudia Schiffer wore a runway look from his debut ready-to-wear collection in 2006, the designer went on to gain critical and capital success when Barneys New York became the brand’s primary stockist. (The Duchess of Cambridge helped put him on the map, as well.)

In the past several months, A-listers have flocked to the lines ethereal frocks and punchy separates, alike. For the New York screening of My Week with Marilyn, Michelle Williams selected an embroidered slip, while ingénue Elizabeth Olsen made a statement in a $4,085 trademark print crepe de chine gown. Kate Bosworth looked capricious in a canary, off-shoulder frock from the line’s spring 2012 collection, while Jessica Alba paired extra pops of color with the brand’s printed stovepipes.

“I never think about what’s sexy,” the designer has said of his creations. “I focus on the silhouettes and the proportions and hope that takes care of everything.”

In less than two weeks, five of Hollywood’s most sought-after leading ladies selected similar looks from Valentino’s spring/summer 2012 collection.

For the Jan. 9 Rome premiere of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Rooney Mara wore a scarlet, tiered gown with piqued sleeves and sheer paneling. In the days that followed, both Jessica Alba and Kristen Bell attended awards season soirees in leather-accented styles, while Kirsten Dunst and Kate Bosworth opted for slightly more black-tie versions of the same silhouette.

Valentino is “synonymous with red carpet and glamour,” Alba’s stylist Brad Goreski tells PEOPLE of the seasonal collection’s appeal. For his client, “the combination of leather and lace was absolutely perfect” for the InStyle and Forevermark Golden Globes pre-party because of its “mixture of ladylike and edgy” qualities.

The Bravo star credits the line’s “sort of whimsical quality” as an enduring red-carpet trend, but says that unexpected details manage to keep the dresses young. “That is why for stylists, it’s a sure thing,” he declares, adding, “you know if one of your girls is wearing Valentino, it’s going to be a good moment.”

ON A BUDGET? GET STAR LOOKS FOR LESS! 

It was a day Jessica Alba had long thought about: the day she could finally afford a Chanel bag. Nearly a decade ago, she finally got it.

“I wouldn’t put it down,” she recalled to PEOPLE Friday night. “I’d been an admirer of Chanel for so long. It’s timeless, it’s chic.”

Chanel gave an elite few a peek into that chic world Friday with the grand opening of the Numéros Privés exhibition at Wynn Las Vegas. The invitation-only installation shows guests everything from how the famed bags are made to dolls created by Chanel creative director Karl Lagerfeld. There’s even a loose recreation of Coco Chanel’s Parisian apartment.

“It’s like every room is an art exhibit,” actress Lily Collins told PEOPLE of the elaborate 10-room tour.

Having received her first Chanel bag from her late grandmother, the history of famed brand wasn’t lost on Collins.  “It doesn’t matter what generation you are. It just blends with your personality and makes you feel that much more chic,” she explained. “The fact that it’s Chanel makes it so you can get away with anything.”

Fashion guru Rachel Zoe told PEOPLE she just “had” to see the exhibit since she’s “obsessed” with Chanel. “I have more Chanel than I have any other single designer for sure,” the Chanel-clad stylist said. “I can’t get enough of it, to be honest with you.” Diane Kruger and Alexa Chung were also on hand to fete the installation, which runs through Jan. 28.

Meanwhile, Vanessa Hudgens brought the heat to Miami, frolicking with her new beau while wearing a crocheted black peek-a-boo one-piece, which she hid under overalls. And television hostess Maria Menounos, also in Miami, looked white-hot in a girly suit with patterned detail. While reviewing her haute highlights from the past year, Jessica Alba reveals a surprising affinity for maternity looks.

“I feel sexiest in things that I feel the most confident in,” she tells InStyle.com, indicating a “really fun, youthful and feminine” Dolce & Gabbana halter dress (left) she wore eight months along. “I liked that it was a little edgy for such a feminine dress. I liked that combination.”

The star’s willingness to step out on the red carpet during pregnancy may have a little something to do with her It’s a Brad, Brad World star stylist, Brad Goreski. “[We] show people that even though you’re pregnant you can still look really cute,” he told PEOPLE last summer.

Other memorable moments include a metallic, one-shouldered Gucci mini, which she calls “the sexiest of the year,” and a cobalt Versace column, which perfectly shrouded an emerging belly. “It was very sexy and I felt very statuesque in it and that was when I was four months pregnant,” she gushes.

In spite of all of the sexy moments, Alba also remembers a gilded Thakoon frock (right) fondly. “It fits well,” she states simply. “And I love the little bit of gold.”

Donatella Versace knows how to throw a party.

The designer debuted her much-anticipated line for H&M at a star-studded event in Manhattan on Tuesday night that included a full-length fashion show, a private concert by Prince and Nicki Minaj and some serious late-night shopping.

“The collection is fun,” Versace told PEOPLE as she headed into the bash. “It starts with the iconic moment, Gianni’s black leather and gold studs. Then there are the Miami prints that people know the best. I wanted to show them the real thing, and then it goes through the evolution of Versace from the prints to my collections up to today.

“I’m very happy tonight,” she added. “I didn’t expect such a turnout. I knew it would be exciting, but not like this.”

“I’m very proud of my mother,” Allegra Versace, wearing vintage Versace, chimed in. “I’ve been wearing the H&M line. I love the fact that it’s going to make all these clothes accessible to kids my age.”

The celebrities who showed up in great numbers were also enthusiastic. “I’m not too savvy about the whole fashion thing,” admitted a Versace-clad Chace Crawford. “But I thought [the collaboration] sounded pretty cool.”

That was the general consensus among the stars. “Girls like to wear Versace,” explained Jessica Alba. “It’s an iconic brand. The first time I wore Versace, I presented at the Oscars, I went over to Donatella’s house, and she opened her closet and we talked about boys and we talked about kids and it made me feel beautiful and special.”

Uma Thurman recalled a similar Versace moment — she wore one of Donatella’s gowns to the Golden Globes a few years ago — and Nicki Minaj even paid tribute, too. “This is what Donatella wanted,” she said, pointing to her wild green wig. “And what Donatella wants, she gets.”

A Royal Declaration
Following the fashion show, positive reviews were flying. “I loved it,” Emma Roberts told PEOPLE. “The clothes, the hair and makeup were amazing. I feel like it was really done right. I’m unsure of a lot of collaborations, but this made so much sense. It was so fun and young and I would wear everything.”

Roberts and the rest of the crowd then moved into another room, decorated to look like a disco, and watched Nicki Minaj and Prince take the stage. The Purple One even came back for an encore, performing “Purple Rain” and dedicating the tune to Versace.

When the concert ended after 1 a.m., a curtain opened, revealing a huge display of the Versace H&M line on racks, mannequins and tables, with every outfit and accessory in the show available in great numbers and all sizes. And until the wee hours, fashionistas — with credit cards drawn — went wild.

“I’m a little bit sad that the collaboration is over tonight,” Versace mused. “I worked with a fantastic team of people. And I learned a lot.” Most importantly, though, she was happy to share her brother’s legacy with a younger audience. “I’d never touched the prints since my brother died,” she admitted. “I took them from the archives, and added the fun and excitement and glamor.” Exactly what Versace is all about.

YOU ASKED, WE FOUND: STAR LOOKS

For most women, the idea of having a professional stylist is a dream come true; for Jessica Alba, it’s just a part of the gig.

“Trying on clothes — it’s just not super fun for me,” she admitted to PEOPLE recently during a fitting with stylist Brad Goreski. “I can’t think of anything I would rather not be doing. I’d rather get spa treatments. Get my nails done and go to lunch with my girlfriends.”

So when it comes to finding that perfect red-carpet look, Alba employs shortcuts. “I know what will work even before I try something on,” she said. Goreski concurred: “She doesn’t change her mind … Once you set something with her she knows it and it stays that way.”

Before welcoming daughter Haven on Saturday, instead of trying to mask her changing shape, Alba chose to emphasize it. “They don’t usually make clothes for women with giant beer guts,” she laughed. “I kind of have to embrace the bump right now … there’s no hiding it.”

And as it turns out, being pregnant and looking cute are not mutually exclusive. “We’ve done a lot of different shapes and colors and we’ve tried to keep Jessica’s style still really cool and very young,” said Goreski. “Almost every color looks good with her.” And when all else fails, “a lot of belting” does the trick.

Panettiere debuted her updated look at the Vans Custom Culture Event in New York City on June 2. The actress, who chopped her locks in April of 2010 because she “likes abrupt changes,” added wavy blonde strands to her head, returning to her Heroes roots. Alba, expecting her second child with husband Cash Warren, turned up at the Covenant House California Gala in Los Angeles on Thursday with brunette tresses that flowed well past her shoulders — a major contrast to the shorter style she sported as recently as late May. Many women rethink their fashion choices while pregnant, but not Jessica Alba. Since announcing her second pregnancy in February, Alba’s belly has “popped,” but she remains a fashionista thanks to the assistance of her stylist, Brad Goreski. “We’re still trying to keep it very fashion,” Goreski told PEOPLE at the Rimowa Rodeo Drive Store opening in Beverly Hills Monday. “There aren’t really that many restrictions because she’s such a beautiful woman.” The former Rachel Zoe protégé said he and Alba, already mom to Honor, 2, have recently found success in keeping her look “fresh and young” thanks to designers like Lanvin, Versace and Ralph Lauren. “[We] show people that even though you’re pregnant you can still look really cute,” he shared. One brand that Alba has recently turned to for maternity wear, though, is Pea in a Pod. “We switch to Pea in a Pod at, like, month two or three,” Goreski told reporters. “You need the [belly bands].” So what’s it like dressing someone Goreski describes as the “coolest mom?” “She’s just so much fun to be around,” he shared. “We had a fitting today and just laughed all through it. Two years after giving birth to daughter Honor, the Machete star tells the U.K. edition of GQ that there is something “amazing” about having a child. “My breasts are saggy, I’ve got cellulite, my hips are bigger, but I love it,” she proudly says in the November issue. And the 29-year-old feels inferior to many of her fellow female stars in the beauty stakes. She name-checks other leading ladies like Natalie Portman, Jessica Biel, Jennifer Lopez, Halle Berry, Scarlett Johansson, Jennifer Garner and Beyoncé. “Every actress out there is more beautiful than me,” she tells the magazine. “All better looking than me. The Chanel haute couture show in Paris Tuesday night was nothing short of spectacular–from the enormous golden lion that anchored the stage to the oversized pearl that the models emerged from. Perhaps the only thing that fashion fans were more excited to see than the fall/winter 2011 couture pieces designed by Karl Lagerfeld coming down the runway, were the ultra-chic Chanel ensembles gracing the A-list beauties in the front row. Meester, on the other hand, tapped into the house’s dark side in a tough leather dress with gold tweed embroidery from the Paris Shanghai capsule collection. With her natural beauty and spot-on sense of style, one wouldn’t think that Jessica Alba would have much need for makeup, but it turns out the 29-year-old actress is a bit of a beauty junkie. In the July issue of British magazine Company, the star reveals that she was sporting a full face of makeup at the tender age of 10, thanks to her mother. “She was going to cosmetology school and she needed a model to practice on!” explains Alba. “[It was] for the swim team picture — full on winged eyeliner, the works.” So it seems fitting that the stunning actress would go on to become a brand ambassador for Revlon, whose products, of course, anchor the star’s off-duty makeup routine: “Concealer, Revlon’s cream blush and a light tinted base or moisturizer,” she dishes.
