24 Hour Trend Alert: Short Denim Dresses

Jennifer Lopez, Reese Witherspoon in Denim Dresses

310Pix; Startraks

We’ve seen these stars working intricate designer dresses in recent weeks, but these days, they’re all keeping it cool and casual in denim! Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Lopez and Stella McCartney proved that the relaxed fabric can be cute, each sporting a different denim dress this week. Witherspoon looked country-chic in a comfy denim Imogene + Willie button down — accessorized with a temporary new shoe — while stepping out for lunch with friends at L.A.’s Brentwood Country Mart. Meanwhile, Lopez made her denim a little dressier, choosing a ruffled one-shoulder frock for American Idol on Wednesday night, embellishing it with big earrings and a perky ponytail. And across the pond in London, designer McCartney proved that simple can be sexy when she went out Tuesday in a 3/4-length-sleeve denim shirtdress complemented by brown sandals and a matching leather bag. We like the stars’ casual take on dresses, but we want to know: would you wear a dress made of denim? –Kim Peiffer

Jennifer Lopez’s Glam Cover Look: All the Details!

Jennifer Lopez World's Most Beautiful Cover

Jennifer Lopez may love being makeup-free at home with her twins, but for her flawless appearance as PEOPLE’s 2011 World’s Most Beautiful cover girl, she had a little help from her glam squad. Makeup artist Mary Phillips began with moisturizer, then applied foundation with a blush brush “all over her face and neck, including on her eyelids.” She followed that with peach cream blush, “beginning on the apple using less product as you go back.” She set the look with a yellow-based powder. Phillips lined Lopez’s eyes in brown, “rimming the whole eye, all the way around.” After applying creamy shadow with a hint of shimmer all over the lid with a touch of espresso color in the crease, she curled Lopez’s lashes and used mascara on both the top and bottom lashes. On her lips, a nude pink lip liner was topped with a peach lipstick followed by clear gloss. As for her famously lush locks, stylist Lorenzo Martin started with freshly shampooed hair, applied a styling serum and blew it dry “with lots of volume, toward the back.” Then he curled big sections with a 2-in. curling iron, pinned them back, and set them with hairspray. After 20 minutes, he pulled the pins out, and, he says, “put her hair upside down and brushed it with a boar-bristle brush. Then I flipped it back, teased it and back-brushed it, then tousled it again to get gorgeous waves.” For more of Lopez’s exclusive interview, in which she sets the record straight on all the rumors, pick up this week’s special issue of PEOPLE, on newsstands Friday. –Reporting by Julie Jordan

It’s no surprise that Jennifer Lopez knows how to make jewelry look oh-so-good, but she really turns up the gorgeous factor in her new campaign for Tous. The American Idol judge rocks a variety of ethnic gear accentuated by the sparkling jewels — not to mention some seriously sensual poses — in these exclusive photos, part of a series she recently shot for the 90-year-old Spanish company. Lopez was announced as the new face of Tous last month, chosen for her genuineness and charisma, according to the line’s president, Salvador Tous. “[She's] a great illustration of our brand.” (Kylie Minogue previously modeled for the company.) The singer-actress obviously had a lot of fun in her new role, too; some outtakes depict a beaming Lopez with her arm around Madame Tous, who helps design the gems. Many of the pieces Lopez sports in her photos (including the brand’s iconic bears) are available on tous-shop.com now — perhaps we’ll see her wearing some on Idol soon? Tell us: What do you think of Lopez’s new campaign? Kate Hogan

The Secrets of the J. Lo Glow Revealed!

Michael Becker/FOX

As a judge on American Idol, Jennifer Lopez has impressed us this season with her ear for talent — and her gorgeous skin and makeup. How does she manage to look so good, in high definition, no less? For starters, she sticks with the bare essentials. “I’m a big believer in the basics. Less is more,” she tells Allure. “I use a very mild makeup remover and a very basic sunscreen-moisturizer combo, and I try to get lots of sleep.” And even though she’s attempted some questionable beauty trends in the past, she doesn’t regret any of them. “I stand by all my awful looks,” she says, laughing. While Lopez spends a decent amount of time getting dolled up for the red carpet, where she says she feels most beautiful, she explains that it’s important to remember that beauty comes from within — a mantra that she plans to pass on to her daughter, Emme, 3. “You can be the most physically beautiful girl, but if you’re not a beautiful person, that shows,” she says. “So I really do teach her to love herself and to know that beauty is something that comes from the inside.” That likely applies to her signature skin look, then, which has been touted the ‘J. Lo Glow.’ “I love that! I didn’t know I had my own phrase,” she tells the mag. “I love that the idea of having healthy glowing skin … that people think that of me. That’s awesome.” –Kim Peiffer

Jennifer Lopez Is the New Face of Tous Jewelry

Is Jennifer Lopez the hardest working woman in show business? The singer, actress and American Idol judge is adding another bullet point to her résumé: she’s the new face of Barcelona-based Tous jewelry. The line’s president Salvador Tous (daughter Rosa is the designer) said in statement that the diva was a natural choice to front the line’s spring ad campaigns, to be shot by photographer Ellen Von Unwerth, because Lopez “is genuine and endlessly charismatic; a great illustration of our brand.” For Lopez, who has long been known to have a thing for bling, the choice to collaborate with the 90-year-old jewelry brand was a no-brainer, she said. “All girls love diamonds!” –Alex Apatoff

Jennifer Lopez Flaunts Her Goddess Gams as Venus Global Ambassador

Jennifer Lopez‘s smoking-hot campaign shot leaves little question about why she was chosen as the new ambassador for Venus Pro Skin. “My legs have taken me many places in my life,” she tells PEOPLE of what drew her to the brand, which she credits with keeping them flawless. “Their message is all about feeling like a goddess. I thought that was beautiful and it’s very empowering.” And while you might expect that being in front of the cameras would be when Jennifer feels most divine, “For me, these moments range from the red carpet–when it’s easy to feel like a goddess–to the times I walk in the door and my kids hug me by throwing their arms around my legs,” she says. Your own goddess moments can be equally powerful: for each one shared on the Venus website, $1 will be donated to the Venus Goddess Fund for Education, which funds organizations such as CARE International, the Step Up Women’s Network and Lopez’s own Maribel Foundation. –Katherine Kluznik Rentmeester
