Was There a Cannes Dress Code Memo and We Just Missed It?

If you’ve been following Cannes fashion as avidly as we have over the past week, you’ve likely noticed a few things. Namely, that everyone appears to be wearing black. Or white. Or (wait for it) black and white.

It’s a graphic, sleek and chic look that’s easy for any star to pull off — ease being a must during a week when it’s been pouring every day, so stars have more important things to worry about (like keeping their hair dry) than, say, coordinating a full outfit.

4 Outfits in 1 Day: Jennifer Lawrence’s Glam Cannes Style

It’s probably safe to say that Jennifer Lawrence didn’t bring just one rolling carry-on when she flew to Cannes. The Hunger Games star wore a total of four different outfits for her first day at this year’s French film festival.

Kicking things off in head-to-toe Christian Dior (no shocker there), the face of Miss Dior wore a crocheted, ruffled bustier along with black trousers and ultra-pointy bright pumps for the Catching Fire photo call.

She ditched Dior for more Dior at her next stop, selecting a black-and-white Christian Dior gown, plus stacked Jimmy Choo sandals. And despite the fact that thieves had allegedly taken off with an estimated million bucks worth of Chopard jewelry the day before, the brand was able to loan Lawrence a pair of emerald-and-diamond drop earrings, a diamond bracelet and one jaw-droppingly huge emerald-and-diamond cocktail ring for the Jimmy P premiere.

For the beach-side party at the Baoli Club celebrating her movie, Lawrence made a quick change into a strapless white Dior dress with a silhouette similar to her previous look. The design featured a pop of color via a printed bouquet at the hip, which she coordinated with bold pink Jimmy Choo heels.

But Lawrence didn’t stick to that outfit for long. Once inside the party, she made her fashion finale with a sleeveless gray dress with a sheer panel at the legs, accessorized with a woven pink clutch and what appear to be the black peep-toes from Outfit #2.

Jennifer Lawrence’s Haircut: Do You Like It Better Straight?

Most of you were loving Jennifer Lawrence‘s new layered, long bob, which she debuted Saturday night. Even Miley Cyrus got in on the lovefest, tweeting “I ♥ JLAW new hair cut #shorthairdontcare” (thanks, Miley!).

For her first outing with the new cut, Mark Townsend really played up its texture, curling her layers and styling her shorter bangs to the side to showcase her sultry eye makeup.

But as any girl knows, the true test of a good haircut is how it looks when you’re on your own, without extra skilled hands to run the blow dryer and curling iron.

And Lawrence put the new look to the test right away; she appears to have let it air dry straight in a style that highlights how piecey and choppy (and how much blonder!) it really is.

Jennifer Lawrence’s Haircut: Are You Loving It?

It’s been a busy few months for Jennifer Lawrence‘s hair.

Shortly after sporting an elegant chignon at the Oscars, she dyed her hair jet black for her role in Catching Fire.

About a month after that, she was back to blonde, but still making a statement with an extremely elaborate updo on the set of another film.

And at Sunday’s GLAAD awards, she debuted a brand hew bob — but this look was all her own.

“Yesterday, Jennifer showed up an hour before call time and as she opened the door she was like ‘Mark, I want to cut it all off,’” her hairstylist Mark Townsend told Harper’s Bazaar. “I was like ‘What? Are we allowed to do that?’ And she said ‘Of course, it’s my hair!’”

Townsend cut a long, shaggy bob with wispy bangs. “She was super excited. It’s the shortest her hair has been her whole life,” he said — though in his own excitement, he cut his finger in the process! “As I cut, I lost track of how many times she said ‘I love it!’”

And we’ve lost track of how many times we’ve said it too (not to mention her gorgeous blonder hue courtesy of colorist Lorri Goddard)! Tell us: Do you like Lawrence’s long hair or new cut best?

You’ve Never Seen Jennifer Lawrence’s Hair Quite Like This Before

Just when we thought we’d seen the last of the wacky hairstyles from the Boston set of David O. Russell’s latest movie, Jennifer Lawrence proves us very, very wrong with the look at left.

Her light blonde locks are a complete change from the dark brunette strands she recently sported to film the second Hunger Games installment in Hawaii, and her elaborately coiffed and curled updo is a far cry from Katniss Everdeen’s signature long braid.

The poodle-inspired style was accompanied by some dramatic blue eye makeup, all period-appropriate for the film, which is set in the 1970s. And while this do is definitely over-the-top, we think she got off easy, considering the pink perm rollers Bradley Cooper had to wear last week.
