We love a good Fashion Faceoff here at PEOPLE StyleWatch — and we get extra-enthusiastic when two stars are spotted out in the same distinctive dress on the same day. The stars involved may be less excited than we are about this fun coincidence, but since these two were separated by 2,000 miles, we think they won’t mind too much if we discuss dress details.

This week’s race for Best Dressed was a neck-and-neck black-and-white faceoff (we told you the color combo is really big right now), with the top three falling within a 500-vote difference at press time.
Reigning supreme was Jennifer Hudson, who proved you don’t have to wear a single pop of color to stand out on the red carpet. Her white Yigal Azrouel dress, accessorized with black pumps at the Power of Women event, was the very definition of figure-flaunting, and her fresh take on the peplum is likely what set her apart from the rest of the competition. And okay, we lied. She sported just the right hit of color via her wine-colored pout.
Giving Jennifer a run for her money was Charlize Theron, who also brought her LWD out for a spin at the Power of Women event (hers was a draped Stella McCartney mini with what we’re dubbing the “cutout turtleneck”). And Sandra Bullock rounded out the top three in a black strapless Antonio Berardi dress with white side panels at the USC Shoah Foundation Institute gala. And if you think that look is worthy of Best Dressed, you should see her other black-and-white number at the London premiere of Gravity (it’s our personal favorite of her press tour so far!).
So clearly black-and-white is back in a major way — and getting some serious love from readers. Did you like Jennifer’s take on the trend, or do you prefer Charlize or Sandra’s style? Or are you dying for some pops of color to make their way back to the red carpet?

Bold red lip shades are all over the red carpet. And yes, the look can be intimidating (especially if you’re on a strict gloss diet). But if you’re like us, you totally have the itch to try out different deep red lipsticks. So we rounded up three degrees of wearing the trend, from beginner to advanced. Read More

In our weekly roundup of the looks that are gaining fashion ground (and the ones losing their style street cred), we noticed off-the-shoulder dresses continuing to rise in popularity, one piece of jewelry stars are loving for fall and a decline in peekaboo bra action.

After walking the red carpet in the long, banged do she most often wears for special occasions, the star switched it up for her surprise appearance with Macklemore, Ryan Lewis and Mary Lambert to help sing the chorus to their hit “Same Love.” And she’d traded in her long, flowing hair for a punkier chin-length bob with a deep side part, which was longer in the front and shorter in the back.
For Jennifer Hudson sharing is caring — for her body, that is. The Oscar and Grammy winner, who has lost 80 lbs. since 2010, has found a healthy (and friendly!) way to indulge her cravings.
“I had these butter cookies at Starbucks the other day [and] I said to everyone I was with, ‘Do you want a cookie?’ That way it can’t do any harm if we share it,” Hudson, 31 told PEOPLE at Weight Watchers’ 50th anniversary celebration in N.Y.C. “You have your portion and share the rest.”
At the event, the company’s ambassador showed off her svelte figure in a shimmery gold Donna Karan pencil shirt and black tee, and confessed that sometimes, her sharing policy sometimes means she’s sharing with the trash.
