Met Gala 2013: Three Beauty Looks We've Still Got to Discuss

We’ve talked fauxhawks. We’ve talked smoky eyes. But we have not yet discussed these three major beauty moments, and it’s about time.

First up: January Jones’s straight-up Black Swan makeup look. From the bleached eyebrows to the dramatic black liner, we hardly recognized our dear Betty Draper — and we kinda liked it. It was bold and brazen, but was it a hit?

Also on the daring end of the eyeshadow spectrum, Emily Blunt opted for a bold wash of fuschia shadow that totally played against the conservative vibe of her Carolina Herrera gown. Between that and her fierce Lorraine Schwartz danglers, she embodied the phrase “if looks could kill.” To get the sizzling pink, NARS makeup artist Jenn Streicher got creative, using the line’s “Jardin des Plantes” satin lip pencil topped with Desire powder blush.

And finally, Elizabeth Banks’s long, clipped-up ponytail, which didn’t quite qualify for our fauxhawk roundup, but it was head-turning nonetheless.

Tell us: Whose look did you like most: Jones’s, Blunt’s or Banks’s? Would you try any in your everyday life?

January Jones: 'My Hair Is Falling Out in Clumps'

January Jones might have been channeling David Bowie at the SAG Awards Sunday night with her pompadour, but considering she’s a risk taker when it comes to her hair, we can’t exactly say we’re shocked.

After all, this is the same woman who has tried almost as many mane colors as Katy Perry, including blonde, brunette, red and even pink highlights. But she admits hitting the hair dye bottle so often has caused some major damage to her tresses.

“I have been every color and now my hair is falling out in clumps,” the star tells Grazia Daily. “I’m going to have to shave it off and wear a wig.”

January Jones Is a Brunette

Nov/20/2012 at 10:00 AM ET

January Jones Brunette
Splash News Online

She’s been a blonde and a redhead, so it was only a matter of time before January Jones experimented with a brunette hue.

The actress debuted a new hairstyle on Monday, while out in Los Angeles with her son, Xander. The Mad Men star looked cute and casual, wearing a blue sweater, slim jeans and Rachel Zoe Collection boots with her new ‘do.

Jones, normally a blonde, experimented with “rose gold” highlights in March before going totally red for a role in June, later returning to blonde. No word yet on why she went brunette — possibly for another role? — but with winter looming it seems like the perfect seasonal change. Tell us: Do you like Jones’s brunette ‘do? Or do you prefer her as a blonde?

Fall often means dark colors on the red carpet, but we’ve been pleasantly surprised to see a slew of stars step out in bright, bold prints this past week. It may be a little too soon to tell, but we think we’re seeing the beginnings of a fun new trend for fall.

Katy Perry kicked things off on Thursday, donning a simple, sophisticated swan-print frock by Wes Gordon. The following day, January Jones also wore a swan-print Wes Gordon creation, hers a dress with a high-low hemline and lace insets.

Vote: Which Star's Grocery Store Style Is Best?

Jul/25/2012 at 05:00 PM ET

We admit we’ve worn sweats to the grocery store before — seriously, who hasn’t? — but seeing stars get dressed to grab the basics always makes us want to set the bar a bit higher.

Take Jessica Alba (left), who manages to make her grocery run comfy-chic in a maxi, cardigan and hat. Or Halle Berry (second from left), whose white top, jean shorts and flip-flops say “casual cool.” Zoë Saldana (center), Kate Bosworth (second from right) and January Jones (right) also use the simple errand run as an opportunity to get glam, without looking like they tried too hard.

So which star’s grocery store style is best? Vote in our poll below — your responses could appear in an upcoming issue of PEOPLE!

January Jones Is a Redhead

Is that you January Jones? The Mad Men actress is almost unrecognizable now thanks to her new long red hair.

Jones was spotted in Malibu on Sunday sporting the new hairdo (and a Madewell dress), which is a bright departure from her usual short blonde locks.

Along with the color change, it appears as if Jones is wearing extensions or a wig to give her tresses added length and volume.

Dying her hair unexpected hues isn’t anything out of the ordinary for the star; back in March she donned on-trend hot pink highlights.

No word on whether or not the new look is for a role, but either way it’s a fun change. Tell us: Do you prefer Jones as a blonde or redhead?
