Don’t count Pamela Anderson as a fan of Janet Jackson now that the singer has signed on as the new face for luxury fur label Blackglama’s “What Becomes a Legend Most” campaign. In an interview with Out magazine, Anderson, a longtime animal rights activist, voiced her opinion on Jackson’s decision to wear fur in the ads. “It’s disappointing. She has spoken out against fur before. I don’t know why some people stop listening to their heart. I guess some people get greedy, but it’s sad.” PETA Senior Vice President Dan Mathews also sent Jackson a letter questioning her controversial choice. “You and I spoke at length about the fur issue. You told me that you were always aggravated at photo shoots when stylists would try to throw fur on you and that you were even wary of wearing fake fur out of concern that it might actually be real or look real in photos and send the wrong message. You were very straightforward and sensible about it. What happened?” Jackson joins a host of Hollywood legends who have appeared in the black-and-white ad campaign including: Diana Ross, Elizabeth Taylor, Lena Horne and Lauren Bacall. In a behind-the-scenes video from the shoot Jackson said, “If someone would have told me later in life that I would be alongside such legendary entertainers, I would have never believed it.” –Samantha McIntyre

Bye-bye long, wavy tresses! Janet Jackson was snapped out and about in London yesterday sporting super short hair, making her the latest A-lister to join the increasingly long list of celebrities who are foregoing their long locks in favor of boyish crops. The iconic performer debuted the gelled-back look while dining in the British city, where she is on hand to promote her latest film, Why Did I Get Married, Too? While Janet’s had a few modish bobs in the past, we’ve never seen her go quite this short or boyish.  And though the new look is a far cry from the natural curls and shoulder-length styles that she’s been rocking recently, we aren’t opposed to the singer’s new low-maintenance style. Long live McQueen! It’s been a month since venerable British designer Alexander McQueen tragically took his own life, but his design skills are still alive and well as stars like Janet Jackson don them on the red carpet. At last night’s premiere of Why Did I Get Married Too? at New York’s School of Visual Arts Theater, the singer-actress — who reprises her role as a psychotherapist — donned a dark navy Alexander McQueen ruffled jacket paired with harem pants and a power belt. Jackson spoke to PEOPLE about her adoration for and long-time relationship with the designer, calling him a “wonderful guy. Sweetheart.” She continued on, “[McQueen was the] very first fashion show I ever went to. He invited me to his show in the late 1990s in London. I’ve always been a fan of his.” The 43-year-old star went on to rave about McQueen’s talents, putting him in the highest echelon possible. “True genius, and I’m not using the word loosely at all,” she told PEOPLE. “To me, there are certain ones, you have your [Karl Lagerfeld at] Chanel, Givenchy, McQueen, Galliano, it’s those guys that fall right in that.” –reporting by Jeffrey Slonim

The latest star to turn designer is Janet Jackson. The singer has teamed with Australian designer Bruno Schiavi, who just recently helped design Dr. Rey’s new Shapewear line, to create an intimates collection. Pleasure Principle, named after Janet’s hit song in 1987, includes a variety of bra styles and sizes ranging from 32A to 44G. And the line is affordable — everything is priced under $40! Pleasure Principle won’t be your grandma’s underwear, the collection features Chantilly lace, satin and feminine details such as bows in rich colors like burgundy, silver, peach and of course classic black and white. “There’s something for every woman, and that’s very important to us,” Janet said in a press conference to USA Today. “I’ve always hated when lingerie is uncomfortable, so the fit and comfort was key.” Janet’s line will hit mass retailers in the USA in November and then will arrive in Australia, Japan and Europe. Ask Alexander McQueen why he brought his high fashion brand to notoriously casual L.A. and all he’ll say is, “Because you needed it!” And his celeb fans seem to agree. Eve, Joy Bryant, Janet Jackson, Natalie Maines, and Sex and the City‘s Jason Lewis were just some of the big names that came out to celebrate the launch of McQueen’s first flagship boutique in Los Angeles on hip Melrose Avenue Tuesday night. “I’ve loved him for a very long time,” Jackson told reporters. “I’m so happy that he finally did this. Now you don’t always have to run to New York.” But Eve was perhaps the luckiest guest of them all, sporting a Union Jack clutch with McQueen’s signature skull at the clasp, which is seriously limited-edition: only 17 of the $2000 bags were produced especially for the L.A. flagship. Calling McQueen’s L.A. opening “the best thing EVER,” the singer attributed the designer’s appeal to his versatility. “You can find something elegant and comfy or something super rocked out — like this bag is crazy! That is what he gives to fashion – you can find anything.”

Jackson was the epitome of ladylike in a classic little black dress at the 9th Annual Lili Claire Foundation Benefit on Saturday night (left). But she pulled a complete role reversal, emerging in a full-on double-breasted suit and tie combo for the Movieline Hollywood Style Awards on Sunday night. Post-weight loss, Ms. Jackson certainly has the figure to wear whatever she pleases, but we can’t help but scratch our heads over her gender-bending wardrobe choices. We got the answer: The sterling-silver bauble that Miss Jackson most likely snatched up at L.A.’s Maxfield was created by “non-conformist” jewelry designer and CFDA winner Tom Binns. He paired the symbols with a skull to represent how corporate “logos are taking over the world,” says his rep Cristina Viera-Newton. “Chanel McDonalds” is available in select stores for $270 (Jackson’s zipper necklace, also designed by Binns, is $620). — Caryn Midler
