Matt Damon and Jake Gyllenhaal are proving that bald is indeed beautiful. The actors have both been spotted sporting shaved heads recently, and we can’t say we mind! Damon showed off his new look while heading to the post office in downtown Vancouver on Wednesday. Is the actor trying to go incognito? PEOPLE’s Sexiest Man Alive recently said that unlike his pal Brad Pitt, he doesn’t cause an international incident when he leaves his house — but this haircut could easily create a stir. The day before, Gyllenhaal was photographed on location in Los Angeles where he’s shooting End of Watch; the actor shaved his head to play the role of an LAPD officer opposite Michael Peña. Gyllenhaal, who previously rocked a hairless head for the film Jarhead, confidently pulls off the no-locks look. But, who wears — or doesn’t wear — his bald head best? What’s round and cute and shiny all over? Jake Gyllenhaal‘s head! The actor, who usually flaunts quite a head of hair, was recently spotted on the Los Angeles set of his new film, End of Watch, with a totally shaved head. His rep tells PEOPLE that he did indeed lose his locks for the role, in which he and The Lincoln Lawyer‘s Michael Peña play devoted cops. This isn’t the first time Gyllenhaal has shaved his head for a film — he did the same for 2005′s Jarhead — but considering we saw him earlier this month with all of his hair (not to mention a full mustache and beard), it certainly was a quick change. We think the actor looks cute no matter what, but we want to know what you think. Tell us: Do you prefer Gyllenhaal with hair, or without?

After bulking up for his role for the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Jake Gyllenhaal‘s body has been sparking equal parts envy and desire — but just like the fabled Samson, the new action star’s strength, it seems, is all in his tousled hair. “The Jake Gyllenhaal workout plan…starts with growing long, long hair,” the actor jokes with Entertainment Tonight Canada. “Very long…gorgeous greasy locks and then washing every day….Wash, shampoo, then condition. Washing works the biceps and then the triceps by conditioning. And vigorously rubbing all of your body with soap really defines the abs and the pectoral muscles. And if you do squats while you’re bathing — that’s it!” Jokes aside, the star also revealed a serious side when it came to getting in prime shape for the role. “It was really important for me to be able to do all the stunts and the things asked of me,” he says of his desire to make a believably stalwart hero. But now that the film is wrapped, the actor isn’t quite as hardcore about his workout routine. “I don’t have any muscles anymore now. It’s all just whittled down to little twigs,” he quips. “I walk around unable to move my arms.” Sounds like it’s time to start lathering up that shampoo! –Katherine Kluznik Rentmeester

Forget the treadmill and free weights. Jake Gyllenhaal, who got noticeably buff for his role in this summer’s Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, has revealed how he got ripped for his role –and a gym membership wasn’t involved. Gyllenhaal’s secret to achieving the hulking build of his character Prince Dastan? The French martial art of Parkour (also known as “freerunning”). “[I] never did anything this intensive before [to change my body]. It’s a physical role. And when I commit to playing a part, it’s 110 percent,” said the 29-year-old actor. “We worked really closely with David Belle, who invented Parkour.  I worked with a lot of gymnasts. I started jumping off of a lot of things that were padded and learned the fundamental stuff, and then slowly started working on harder surfaces, really carefully. And I’d say, ‘OK, I’ll try it,’ and then I’d say, ‘OH GOD. OH, please.’ But then I’d get it, and we’d go a little further and a little longer and a little higher and just kept it up,” explained Gyllenhaal, who did many of his own stunts during filming, even scaring himself at some points. “It got a little bit dicey there near the end, when they saw that I liked doing things that were dangerous. I tried my hand at things that were pushing it a little bit. There was this big 35 foot jump that I did that got a little hairy.” So now that the movie’s wrapped, is it just a matter of time before the big guns disappear? Says Gyllenhaal, “I enjoy being active as part of my daily insanity anyway, so I’ll keep doing that.” – reporting by Susan Young

It’s always sweet when siblings appreciate each other’s taste, but in the case of the exceptionally talented and charming Gyllenhaals, it’s extra adorable. While big sis Maggie was wowing on the Oscars red carpet, Jake was in New York shopping up a storm at celeb-fave An Earnest Cut & Sew, denim brand Earnest Sewn’s store in the trendy Meatpacking district. But this week, Maggie returned by herself to pick up the exact same items as Jake — as birthday gifts for fiancé Peter Sarsgaard. Unfortunately, the store had already sold out of the Andrews flannel shirt that Jake had purchased, but Maggie still managed to snag a limited edition Filson Rucksack, a Davidson Cap and a Wilson Neckwarmer for her sweetheart. At least the boys won’t match at family gatherings!
