Klum to Kors design: Snip, snip. Auf Wiedersehen hemlength. On Project Runway, Heidi Klum and Michael Kors decide the fate of young designers, who know they are either “in or you’re out.” But in real life, the good friends collaborated on a super-short shimmering maternity dress for Heidi, whose bump was on display at last night’s CFDA Fashion Awards at Alice Tully Hall in New York. Heidi’s input? “I shortened it a little bit, because I shorten everything,” she tells PEOPLE. “I’m a shortener.” Not that Kors was surprised. “I knew she’d shorten it,” says the designer. “I can look at clothes on a hanger and know exactly how it’s going to fit, who it is right for. I’ve been doing this for years. I’m only 26, so I can’t say how long I’ve known her, but I know what works for her, what she likes, and I knew she’d cut it off.” And for his part, Kors loves that Heidi isn’t afraid to bare a little while expecting. “It’s a different kind of maternity,” he says. “Everyone thinks, ‘Oh, when you’re pregnant you should hide in the background. But it’s really all about shimmer and glamour and showing skin and confidence.” And Klum is anything but shy about feeling sexy while expecting. “I feel fantastic,” says Klum of her pregnancy. “Are you looking at my boobs?” she jokes. “I’m already two cup sizes bigger than normal.” Tell us: What do you think of Heidi’s sexy maternity style? — Jeffrey Slonim

Starring in fashion spreads is nothing new to Heidi Klum, but with the June issue of German Vogue she’s taking her supermodel status to new levels. In a special 140-page spread entitled “Heidi by Vogue,” the Project Runway host got the chance take on the role of guest-editor. And you couldn’t find a more qualified candidate, considering that the issue is all about her. In addition to collaborating with photographers, hair stylists, makeup artists and the magazine’s regular editor, Heidi dazzles in photo spreads that range from classic to avant-garde and shares the life, style and career secrets. As for which section she loved most, Heidi will only say, “I love all the stories so much that I don’t favor any of them.” But she does gush to PEOPLE.com of the experience, “I grew up reading German Vogue and was really excited when they came to me with the idea for the ‘Heidi by VOGUE’ issue. It was a thrill working with the team of photographers, hair stylists, makeup artists and editors. We shot the entire issue in 1 week — it was a group effort!” And while it doesn’t look like she’ll be quitting her multitude of day jobs just yet, she does tell PEOPLE.com that “I would love the opportunity to be involved in a magazine like this again. Heidi Klum recently told PEOPLE that the secret to her sexy pregnancy style was skipping the maternity clothes, but with baby number 4 on the way, Heidi is turning to Project Runway winner and maternity designer Christian Siriano for a little help looking chic. PEOPLE caught up with Christian at the Modern Bride Trendsetters Awards and got the scoop from him on Heidi’s new maternity look. “She’s all about black,” Christian says. “We made her some pieces from my Fierce Mama Maternity line and she wanted everything in black.” But since it’s Heidi, black is definitely not a boring option — even if it is a little more conservative than the bright colors she usually favors. “I think she’s trying to cover it a little this time,” Christian adds. “She’s getting older and wants to be more sophisticated, not casual. She’s trying to keep it a little quiet.” And though her belly might be getting bigger, Heidi is continuing to take great care of herself physically, according to her trainer David Kirsch, who tells PEOPLE, “Why should she do anything differently? Heidi Klum might be pregnant with her fourth child, but the supermodel shows no sign of giving up her sexy style. The supermodel, who was the host of the LG Rumorous Night in Hollywood to celebrate her new backplate designs for the phone, didn’t let her new baby bump get in the way of looking fabulous. Clad in a flowing one-shoulder dress and sky-high Giuseppe Zanotti heels, Heidi tells PEOPLE that she skips the maternity stores all together. “I love to be creative and find cute things in between,” she says. “It’s about finding good shapes. Cool tops. Right now for example, I love the skinny pants and blousier tops, and then when I get bigger, I like to bring the form back to the body. Then I like to show it off.” Heidi credits Balenciaga’s black jeans as her go-to pair during pregnancy. “They are super stretchy, and they are not very high, so you can kind of fit them under the belly. The bump on top can still grow.” Though Heidi has her super-star stylist to help her find the right looks for Project Runway and other red carpet appearances, Heidi sticks to a harder look for everyday wear. “I love the lumberjacks and the ripped jeans. They are comfortable. I love over-sized t-shirts and jeans.” Pregnant or not, we think Heidi always looks fantastic. But at a launch for Victoria’s Secret’s The Perfect One bra last week at the brand’s store in L.A.’s The Grove, spokesperson Heidi Klum insisted that there’s no contest. “Definitely the perfect guy [is harder to find],” the supermodel and wife of singer Seal said to PEOPLE.com. “You just come here to Victoria’s Secret and there’s always something here that you’ll like. Heidi Klum knows what it takes to make a good pair of jeans, and she’s not afraid to shake it! “It’s very important to have a little bit of something fun on the butt,” she told PEOPLE Tuesday, shaking her derriere at an event to celebrate the launch of her fall/winter 2008 denim line, Heidi Klum by Jordache. The model and Project Runway judge wore a sheer blouse and a pair of jeans from her line — complete with “booty bling” on the back pocket — to greet fans and sign autographs at Bloomindgale’s in Manhattan on Tuesday. Working on the line, Klum learned that how a pair of jeans fits on a girl’s behind is the most important thing to consider when designing. “The first thing girls do [when putting on a pair of jeans] is turn around and look in the mirror and they look what their butts look like,” she said. “It just has to look right and as perfect as possible.” Unfortunately, her jeans were the only thing Klum wanted to talk about, playing coy when asked about recent reports that Jennifer Lopez would be the guest judge for Runway’s season finale. “Maybe,” she said with a grin. – Chris Willard
