Hayden Panettiere Channels Her Nashville Alter Ego for Cotton

Apr/16/2013 at 09:00 AM ET

The latest sweet-voiced star to join the pantheon of celebrity cotton aficionados is Hayden Panettiere.

She’s in good company: past faces for the “Fabric of Our Lives” campaign have included Emmy Rossum, Camilla Belle, Kate Bosworth and Zooey Deschanel.

But while those ads have been ethereal and super-girlie, Panettiere brings a sassy, Nashville-inspired twang to her spot. And her outfits range from pretty dresses to campfire-ready sweaters and shorts — cute looks that we bet even Rayna James couldn’t find fault with.

Tell us: What do you think of Panettiere’s Cotton ad? Which star’s spot was your favorite?

We love Nashville for three main reasons: the amazing music, Connie Britton’s perfect hair and, of course, Hayden Panettiere‘s enviable makeup as sassy country star Juliette Barnes.

And because trying to recreate a character’s makeup from a paused DVR still is nearly impossible, the actress thoughtfully teamed up with Nashville makeup artist Erin Koplow and Neutrogena (she’s a brand ambassador) to create step-by-step videos on how to get three of her character’s memorable beauty looks, from “Polished Professional” to “Show Time.”

We like to think we’re fairly on top of trends, but we’ll admit that this week, the most popular red carpet looks had us scratching our heads. Surprisingly, platform heels seemed to be having a huge moment (after weeks of single-sole pumps) and stars appeared to be paying tribute to Cupid’s upcoming big day. Meanwhile, the ever on-trend topknot is nowhere to be seen. Read on for the details…

Up: Peep-toe Platforms. Expect to see lots of super-tall celebs at the Grammys. Stars seem to be trading style for comfort, because we’re noting way fewer sexy (read: painful) sandals and many more open-toe stackers. Hayden Panettiere, Jennifer Lawrence, Jennifer Garner and Sarah Hyland all put their best foot forward this week in the inches-adding heels.

Hayden Panettiere and Kate Bosworth go way back. “I’ve known Kate since I was 10. We did Remember the Titans together,” Panettiere says in the exclusive clip above. “Kate is always somebody I looked up to as a big sister.”

Twelve years later, the two actresses are collaborating again, albeit for something a bit more fabulous: Panettiere is acting as a guest curator for Bosworth’s accessories site, JewelMint.

Sadly, summer is almost over (sorry, it’s true!), so we’re relishing in the last few weeks of wearing weather-appropriate minis, shorts and sandals — and it looks like our favorite stars are doing the same. So check out the two late-summer trends we’re loving, and the one we’re totally over:

Up: Shoes with unexpected embellishments: The wrong shoe can ruin an entire outfit, but our favorite stars have really been bringing it on the carpet. For example, don’t Rebecca Romijn‘s white floral kicks totally upgrade her simple LBD? We thought so.
