Halle Berry Gets Charitable With Alicia Keys

Kevin Mazur/WireImage

When co-founder and Global Ambassador Alicia Keys wanted to raise money for her charity Keep-A-Child Alive, a charity that is dedicated to providing life-saving anti-retroviral treatment, care and support services to families whose lives have been affected by HIV/AIDS in Africa and India, she called upon her famous friends, of course. Stars like Halle Berry, Chris Martin, John Mayer, Queen Latifah, Iman and Padma Lakshmi joined the singer for a night of glitz and glam in New York City where Halle proved to be the night’s heaviest bidder, taking home a one-of-kind, 18k gold, blue kyanite and ruby necklace for $40,000 — all of which benefited Keep-A-Child-Alive. The necklace, which was co-designed by Alicia for jewelry line The Barber’s Daughters, is inscribed with an inspirational quote from the singer that says “Always shine/ light on the/world./Alicia Keys”. And while Alicia proudly wore the necklace during the event, Halle took it home. You can find similar (and less expensive) versions of the necklace at thebarbersdaughters.com.

Ashlee, Halle and More Help Gap Launch Premium Denim Under $60!

Looking for jeans with a $200 fit without the price tag?  Look no further than Gap’s latest denim line — the 1969 Premium Jeans Collection.  From Halle Berry and Molly Sims to Ashlee Simpson and Emma Roberts, fashion forward celebs jammed to tunes spun by Joel Madden Thursday night, while perusing the new wallet-friendly collection at the 1969 Jeans Shop, a temporary pop-up shop on trendy Robertson Blvd in West Hollywood.  And the ladies couldn’t stop raving about the line, which features 14 different styles for men and women in the softest denim and most stylish washes, all for under $60.  “Gap is always good at the classic jeans — they fit [well] and they’re easy to wear,” Simpson told PEOPLE.  And she wasn’t the only enthusiast. The favorite pick of the evening?  The “Always Skinny” jean, rocked by Berry, Cobb, Roberts, and Entourage’s Constance Zimmer.  “I just picked up four, five new pairs,” confessed Roberts.  Gap creative director Patrick Robinson is to thank for the new recessionista obsession: Robinson spent a year and a half fine-tuning the line, from shopping around for fabrics, and teaching factories how to make those perfect hand-made finishes, to working with several body types to master that perfect fit.  “For me, honestly, these are the best fitting jeans in the world.  We’ll go up against any brand of any jean, and these fit better,” says Robinson.  “We want[ed] jeans that, for women, make you have the best butt in the world. You want to be able to wear these on a date, you want to be able to wear them out on those nice steak dinners.” And we will – It’s hard to say no to booty- and wallet-friendly jeans!  The Gap 1969 Jeans Collection is available in Gap stores and online at gap.com starting August 13. – By Shruti Dhalwala

Halle Berry Unveils Her Sexy Signature Scent

Courtesy Coty

Daughter Nahla Ariela isn’t the only new baby in Halle Berry‘s life. The Academy Award-winner dished about her soon-to-launch first fragrance, Halle by Halle Berry at an exclusive unveiling of the Coty scent in N.Y.C. “We call Halle my second baby,” she said, “because that’s really all I’ve been working on for the past two years.” Throughout the process, the actress insisted on being involved in just about every aspect creating the fragrance, from doing scent tests to helping design the bottle itself — and made sure that the woody oriental included two of her most-loved notes. “I was mixing two fragrances, a fig and a mimosa, and putting them in a bottle and carrying them around,” she says. “That was my flavor of the moment.” And it’s a flavor she hopes men will appreciate as much as women. “I want women to feel that their partners, that special person, thinks they smell beautiful, thinks that it’s simple enough that they can ingest it all day, every day. That’s what Gabriel said,” she adds, of her boyfriend Gabriel Aubry’s take on her signature scent. “He said it smells like that — he better be right!” Tell us: Will you try out Halle’s fragrance when it launches in March?
