She’s all of 14 years old, but Hailee Steinfeld is already more fashion-forward than many of her peers, thanks to her latest gig as the face of Miu Miu.

“Just going from about a year-and-a-half ago, when I was doing the press for True Grit and the awards circuit and learning about the different designers and getting to wear them, and having Miu Miu be one of my favorites — then having something like [the campaign] come along was really huge for me,” Steinfeld tells Fashionista.com. “It’s been an honor.”

The Oscar nominee — who designed her own dress for the big ceremony — did some print modeling in her younger days, and felt right at home behind the camera when working with photographer Bruce Weber. “It has been so much fun,” she says. “I have had such a blast getting to know everyone that works with the brand.”

Hailee Steinfeld proved she was confident with her place in the fashion world when she inked a deal as the new face of Miu Miu, and though she’s only 14 years old, the actress, who has been known to wear a slew of top designers on the red carpet, says her work with the brand suits her (and the Miu Miu audience) quite well. “Honestly I think the best part about this collection and the campaign is the fact that it’s so sophisticated — it’s timeless,” she recently told Fashionista.com. “And I think for younger girls like me it works. It feels appropriate.” And as for how she felt about transitioning from actress to model for the campaign? It was a breeze for the True Grit star! “It’s kind of funny because when I was younger I did a lot of print and then I went more into acting so I had a little déjà vu when I went back to it, doing the whole modeling thing again,” she said. “I had such an amazing time filming, especially working with Bruce Weber.” Steinfeld joins a crop of young new stars who are also lending their fashionable faces to designer campaigns, like 13-year-old Elle Fanning, who was recently announced as the new face of Marc by Marc Jacobs. –Kim Peiffer

Modeling is a day at the park for young star Hailee Steinfeld, who poses prettily in just-released photos for Miu Miu’s fall/winter 2011 collection. Photographer Bruce Weber captured the True Grit star — an Oscar nominee — in a series of images that will go wide this fall. “Miu Miu girl” Steinfeld, announced as the new face of the brand in May, brings an elegance to the clothes that is “fresh and feminine and far from conventional,” according to a release. “She is a girl who has the stature — in both senses — to carry these mature and elegant silhouettes whilst still remaining true to her youthful spirit.” And Steinfeld was happy to comply. “I had such an amazing experience working with the Miu Miu team on this new campaign,” she said in a release. “It’s so much fun to have the chance to work with such a gifted designer and wear these incredible clothes. I feel so lucky to be a part of it.” Tell us: What do you think of Steinfeld’s first Miu Miu ad?

Forget True Grit — Hailee Steinfeld has a true fashion sense! The 14-year-old Oscar nominee was just named the new face of Miu Miu, a rep for the brand confirms to PEOPLE. Though further details aren’t available at this time, it’s presumed that the young star will front the Prada spin-off’s upcoming ad campaigns. Steinfeld, one of 2010’s breakout stars, has subtly turned the red carpet into her very own fashion show, popping up at events in looks from designers like Miu Miu, Prada, Marchesa, Stella McCartney, Tory Burch and See by Chloe. The young star joins a roster of famous Miu Miu faces, including Katie Holmes, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Kirsten Dunst and Chlöe Sevigny — although she’s probably the only one who still gets in trouble for texting. While walking the Oscar red carpet Sunday night, True Grit best supporting actress nominee Hailee Steinfeld was a vision in her Marchesa princess gown. But what was even more surprising than the 14-year-old’s stellar eye for style was learning that she worked with Marchesa’s Georgina Chapman to design the dress herself. “We offered to dress her for Oscars when nominations came out,” Marchesa spokeswoman Karla Barbosa tells PEOPLE, noting that Steinfeld wore the brand for the Critics’ Choice Awards, too. “She sent us inspiration images and notes, and based off of that, Georgina designed this one-of-a-kind dress for her special night.” Steinfeld told Chapman that she wanted a tea-length tulle dress in a “dusty English rose” hue, so dressmakers spent three days hand-dying 16 layers of tulle, working to get the color just right. Afterward, they hand-embroidered the gown with crystals, which were added one-by-one to “give the illusion of them fading into the skirt.” So even though Steinfeld didn’t take home a statuette Sunday night, the rising star certainly shined. —Kate Hogan

Hollywood’s fashionistas including Nicole Kidman, Hailee Steinfeld and Julianne Moore embraced the lighter end of the color spectrum this weekend. At the 26th Annual Santa Barbara Film Festival on Friday, award recipient Nicole Kidman wore a sophisticated belted Nina Ricci shirtdress, which she paired with strappy putty-colored Pierre Hardy heels and an Omega watch. At the same event, Oscar nominee, Hailee Steinfeld, opted for a feminine cap-sleeved Alberta Ferretti frock, punctuated by red Aldo pumps. The following night, in N.Y.C., Moore was red, black and white all over, juxtaposing fiery tendrils with a stark white smock by The Row and matte tights at an HRC event. We think this lightened look is divine, but we want to know what you think. Tell us: Are creamy dresses white hot or a major ‘do not’?Justine Harman
