Kanye, we’re going to let you finish that presidency speech, but cat eye makeup was one of the biggest show-stealers of the night. No but really, if the MTV Video Music Awards had an unofficial beauty look, it was definitely some sort of take on the style. Check out five stars who pulled it off — dare we say it — purr-fectly. It was mere days ago that Lea Michele looked like this. But since the Broadway star knows something about making an entrance, she brought her bangs back in a big way: for the Fox upfronts, where she touted the upcoming Scream Queens. Evidently there was a memo (most of) the stars got regarding what to wear to the L.A. premiere of Pitch Perfect 2 Friday night: aca-cutouts. Anna Kendrick, Brittany Snow, Anna Camp and Elizabeth Banks all went with the tried-and-true red carpet trend, albeit in very different ways. While those four ladies were in harmony with their ensembles, Rebel Wilson and Hailee Steinfeld took a pass on the skin-revealing look and opted for dresses that ranged from slightly more covered up to way, way, way covered up (we’re looking at you, Steinfeld).

But sometimes, some of the most surprising, noteworthy or just plain awesome looks belong to starlets who are still in high school. This year was no exception: Chloë Moretz, 17, Hailee Steinfeld, 17, and Kendall Jenner, 18 (from left), all turned our heads during their stylish walk up those famous Metropolitan Museum stairs.
