To honor some of the biggest names in the business, Fashion Group International called upon the luxe labels’ star clients including, Gwen Stefani, James Franco, Jon Bon Jovi and Mary J. Blige, “I’ve been a Gucci girl as long as I remember Gucci being around,” said Blige, who kicked off the evening by joining Franco in giving Gucci Creative Director Frida Giannini the Star Honoree award. “I went to the fashion show in Milan,” she told PEOPLE after stepping down from the stage, “And everything that was coming down that runway, I was screaming. So many people keep their game-face on: they are quiet. I was screaming.” And while the singer relished her time praising the designer on stage and off, Gwen Stefani got a case of stage fright when giving a beauty award to Catherine Walsh, Coty’s Senior Vice President of American Fragrances. “”I hate doing this. This is my hell,” Stefani said of public speaking. Other stars who took to the stage included Jon Bon Jovi, who presented Kenneth Cole with a humanitarian award and Iman, who honored Michael Kors. Finishing the stylish awards was none-other than Oscar de la Renta who described his decades-spanning career, dressing everyone from Jackie O to Sarah Jessica Parker, as “doing what I love to do most, designing clothes, doing for a woman the best that I can.” Talk about a Starry Night!–Reporting by Jeffrey Slonim

Gwen Stefani is one of our favorite beauty icons. We love her enduring look of platinum blonde chignon paired with bold red lips. So we were shocked when she appeared at her fashion brand L.A.M.B.’s spring/summer presentation with neutral gloss and electric blue eye shadow. When Gwen Stefani kicked off New York Fashion Week’s first day with a presentation of her Spring/Summer 2010 L.A.M.B. at Milk Studios in Manhattan, she filled the room with her signature eclectic mix. But something was a little different this time around, which marks the singer’s seventh year as a designer. “There were so many things that inspired and influenced the collection,” Gwen told PEOPLE about the show. “It kind of started with a little bit of an African ’80s nod,” she said of the mix of harem pants, animal patterns, beaded necklaces and graphic prints. “But the theme I was really focusing on was just trying to create the stuff you’re looking for in your closet — really casual, easy, comfortable, wearable stuff.” And it seems she met her goal, based on wear-everywhere pieces like a tie-dyed skinny jeans, and the perfect white motorcycle jacket. As for creating the go-to staples in her fans wardrobes, Gwen explains, “I’ve always wanted that out of L.A.M.B. but it’s not easy to do. I finally got to that point where after seven years I’m really starting to learn how to get there and this collection totally reflects that. It’s very neutral colors — black, white, gray with pops of like hot red and crazy yellow and electric blue. It’s basically a really simple collection.” We can’t wait for spring! Jennifer Lopez may not have made it to N.Y.C. Fashion Week but that didn’t stop her from celebrating fashion this week! The diva turned up at the Beverly Hills launch of famed stylist Andrea Lieberman’s A.L.C. line for Barneys New York. With the Oscars just days away, talk inevitably turned to this year’s Academy Awards red carpet. For her part, Lieberman is ambivalent about the impact the economy will have on the Oscar’s glamour. “It’s hard to predict what people will wear,” the tastemaker tells WWD, “but I think the mood right now is a little more effortless. I think people just don’t want to look like they’re trying too hard.” Lopez, however, was adamant that she thinks the Oscars should continue to shine. “I don’t think there’s anything wrong with playing dress up right now,” she tells WWD. “Who wouldn’t want to wear borrowed dresses and borrowed jewelry?” But she is aware of the dilemma many stars find themselves in. “I think you can get criticized if you’re wearing borrowed dresses now because it’s borrowed, and I think you can get criticized for if it’s not because you bought it during the current economy,” she says. “So I say, do what makes you happy and wear what you want, because the only thing that really matters,” she jokes, “is if your mother calls you up the next days and says, ‘What were you wearing?’”

Uniforms aren’t exactly what comes to mind when we think of trend-setting star and clothing designer Gwen Stefani. But the L.A.M.B. founder has just announced that she will launch an exclusive line of work-wear for W Hotels. Starting this fall, female staff members at the luxe hotel chain’s Gerber bars in the W lounges throughout the country will be outfitted in the custom L.A.M.B. design. And Gwen’s touch is instantly apparent: the black jersey dresses combine a fitted ’80s silhouette and asymmetrical styling with ’60s seam detailing and side vents. When creating the design, she knew it would have to not just look good, but be functional for active employees. “I wanted to design a super cute dress that I would be excited to have in my own closet and approached it in the same way I think about my clothing for a tour,” she says. “We’ve designed a sexy and comfortable outfit for these women to wear out on their own stage every night.” Tell us: What do you think of Gwen’s latest designs?

She’s already a successful music mogul, fashion designer and even perfumer (not to a mention a mom-to-be again) — and now Gwen Stefani is set to release her next creation, a collection of five more unique fragrances with Coty in September. The Harajuku Lovers scents will be inspired by and named for the pop star and her four real-life backup singers, Love, Angel, Music and Baby, WWD reports. The colorful doll-shaped bottles will even look like her crew –- taking cues from Gwen’s blonde hairstyle and Lil’ Angel’s dreadlocks. While it may be a bold venture to launch five fragrances at once, Stefani tells WWD that the decision was a natural one. “Each girl has her own personality and sense of style. We’re all saying something different with unique personalities.” Prices will start at $25 for the individual fragrances, whose notes will run the gamut from fruity to floral to powdery to fresh. Last night, the star turned out to the “Stylist: Interpreters of Fashion” book party with her longtime team of hairstylist Danilo and stylist (and L.A.M.B. collaborator) Andrea Lieberman. Gwen gushed to PEOPLE “It’s beyond work.They’re kind of like my best friends. We play house together all the time.” Echoing Gwen’s declaration of friendship, Andrea told PEOPLE, “She is not like most people at all. She is amazing. She’s a joy to be around, a dear friend. She is totally cute and unique.” So how do you dress a style icon? Andrea gives all the credit to Gwen, saying “I don’t think anyone can make her her. She is so 100% pure Gwen. I think one can elaborate and enrich it. . .but it’s always really fun.” And it’s always really fun for us to see what she comes up with next!

Though we’re dreading the cold weather, one thing we are looking forward to is buying a fabulous new coat. Showing some love for L.A.M.B. at last night’s fashion show were Eve, Diddy, Carrie Underwood and Sophia Bush all sitting front and center to see Gwen Stefani’s latest creations. And while the clothes were the focus on the runway, her fans were there for Gwen. Eve tells PEOPLE, “I had to support her, I love Gwen! I know how much work she puts into the line so I’m happy to support her.” And Sophia Bush even admitted to having “such a girl crush on Gwen. She is cool and sexy and strong and, on top of it all, I love her clothes.” The collection included plenty of plaid, skinny jeans and, of course, Gwen’s signature leopard prints. The scene-stealer wasn’t on the runway — Gwen’s one-year old son Kingston danced on dad Gavin Rossdale’s lap during the entire show while wearing mini headphones and rocking a serious rhinestone studded belt.

What makes Gwen Stefani a style icon? It’s all in the mix! “She’s a little punk, a little Hollywood glamour; she’s a little bit of a reggae girl. And she’s a tomboy,” says her stylist and secret weapon Andrea Lieberman, who began working with Stefani on the “Let Me Blow Ya Mind” video. For The Sweet Escape tour, Lieberman and Stefani “were in a very ’50s sensibility” that “spanned the globe.” They took inspiration from Elvis and his “Jailhouse Rock” phase as well as ’50s London. “That’s where all the shirts and the ties came from,” Lieberman tells us. “A lot of the hairstyles are a very rockabilly.” At the same time they moved past the Harajuku Girls phase into something “more grown up. We never did a more traditional Japanese thing and we sort of wanted to go there with ‘4 In The Morning.” But if you want to steal Gwen’s look, you just have to hit your local mall. “It’s all out there. It’s just a matter of how you put it together,” she says. For example, “we got our skinny ties from Urban Outfitters.”

Did uber-blonde Gwen Stefani influence her husband’s decision to go platinum? The tow-headed twosome headed out with dark-haired (for now!) son Kingston in L.A. yesterday, and we couldn’t stop to stare at his new super blonde ‘do! Sure, Gwen looks great with her light locks, but does Gavin’s new punky do work on him? We tend to think the dapper dad always looks good, but we want to know what you think! Do not readjust your sets — these bold black and white lines are supposed to be there. With their off the shoulder or asymetrical neckline and graphic impact, these dramatic dreses are a mash-up of the ’80s glam revival and the 60’s mod trend of the past year. From Sienna Miller’s Calvin Klein to Gwen Stefani’s L.A.M.B to Thandie Newton’s Giles Deacon dress, the trend is making a big statement on some pretty big style icons. In all fairness, it’s not the the easiest trend to pull off (remember what your mother told you about horizontal stripes not being flattering?) but a sharp silhouette and minimal accessories is definitely the way to go. I’m a terrible high heel wearer. Anything above 1-1/2 inches has me cringing and reaching for Band-Aids, insoles, you name it — anything to help ward off the inevitable blisters! So when I saw this photo of Gwen Stefani in her six-inch YSL Tribute pumps, all I could do was stare in wonderment. For me, just standing in heels that high would be hard enough! Add a baby and a set of stairs and it’s utterly impossible! That’s not to say Gwen doesn’t look as cool and stylish as always, but walking in heels this high obviously requires skills I don’t have. As for Jessica Biel’s – are these shoes or tools of torture? Until I grow a set of super-human, blister-proof feet, I think I’ll stick to my super-comfy Juicy Couture flats!
