Beretta/Sims/Rex USA

Fergie has never been one to shy away from a fashion risk. So when we spotted her rocking a pair of drop-crotch pants, which have been showing up all over the runways, we weren’t exactly surprised. We know that the ’80s are back in a big way, but we’re not sure if taking fashion cues from MC Hammer is a step we’re willing to take in the name of fashion. When it comes to trouser trends, are you ready for “Hammer Time” again? Or do you wish that this look would have just stayed in the ’80s? Vote in our poll below!

Fergie Dishes About Her Designs — and New Brunette Do — at Her Shoe Debut

Over 350 fans turned out to Nordstrom at the Grove in L.A. this Saturday to get a first-hand look at Fergie’s new footwear line. And while the style maven sipped iced tea and signed autographs for waiting fans, she dished with PEOPLE.com about her recessionista-friendly line, priced between $69-$129. The expansive collection — aptly named Fergie — includes everything from signature zip-up gladiator heels to chic flats to strappy sandals adorned with peace signs and sneakers emblazoned with the singer’s initials. “I would feel really irresponsible right now to have a line that was completely out of my fans’ price range, so I feel really good about it,” she said. And inspiration behind the collection came right out of the newlywed’s real-life experience, with husband Josh Duhamel having an unexpected influence on his wife’s favorite pair from the collection, the “Pepper” gladiator platforms. “You know I’m 5′4″,” she explains, “So these are for girls like me who want a little height — especially being that my husband is almost 6′4″!”

But it wasn’t just footwear that was on Fergie’s mind. The former blonde explained the decision to go brunette. “It’s kind of a new era for me. I’m married, new Black Eyed Peas [album], getting back with them. I’m in a new place in my life and just evolving, and I wanted a change. And I’m not scared of change at all.” So comes the age-old question, do blondes really have more fun? Apparently not, according to Fergie. “I’m really having fun with it,” she said. Another major upside to the darker do? Getting to wear pink again. “It’s just funny because I didn’t want to look like a complete Barbie doll before, but now it has no relevance,” she says of reintroducing the rosy shade into her wardrobe. Fergie’s Mini Makeover: Love It or Hate It?

Peter Kramer/AP

It looks like Katie Holmes isn’t the only celeb changing up her look this week. Last night Fergie turned out to the March of Dimes Beauty Ball with a chic new do unlike anything we’ve seen on her before. The newest M.A.C. Viva Glam spokesperson traded her blonde locks for extra-long, stick-straight chocolate brown tresses. And even her signature eyebrow piercing — which she wears as a celebration of kicking her crystal meth addiction years ago — was nowhere in sight. Tell us: What do you think of Fergie’s new hair? Should she bring back her trademark brow piercing?

Fergie Gets Charitable With M.A.C.’s Viva Glam Lipstick Launch

L.A.’s famed Robertson Boulevard got just a little more glamorous yesterday, as M.A.C.’s Viva Glam spokesperson, Fergie, turned up at the flagship store to unveil a much-anticipated new shade, Viva Glam VI. And it was all for a good cause. Just like past Viva Glam shades, 100% of proceeds of the full selling price goes directly to AIDS charities. PEOPLE.com chatted with the singer who dished about her part in developing the new hue. “They brought about 10 different shades and laid them out and let me pick,” she said of the light, shimmer color. “It was important for me to find a shade that looked good on all skin tones — day and night,” she said. “And I love pink!” The singer also stopped by Project Angel Food, a Viva Glam beneficiary, which provides free meals for those living with HIV/AIDS. “This is something that I like doing because it’s not just about me,” she said of the charity aspect of her ambassadorship. “It’s about people and I get to meet their families and hear their true stories. It’s for real and these people are really doing the charity work and putting care into what they’re doing,” she says. You can help support the cause — and look gorgeous doing it — when you purchase the new Viva Glam VI shade at maccosmetics.com starting March 19 or one of the other dazzling hues now. — Reported by Jessica Herndon

Fergie’s Newest Role: Shoe Maven

With her stellar singing career and super-hot fiance Josh Duhamel, we have to admit we wouldn’t mind putting ourselves in Fergie’s shoes — and soon we’ll be able to! The singer has just announced that she’ll be sharing her glam star style with a new line of footwear for Brown Shoes. “I have always loved fashion,” she says, “because it’s a great way to express your mood. And I’m definitely a shoe lover!” As for why she chose to go with shoes, the star explains, “The right pair of shoes can change the feel of an outfit — and even change how a woman feels about herself. A woman can wear confidence on her feet with a high stiletto, or slip into weekend comfort with a soft ballet flat.” We can’t wait to check out the full collection when it launches in Spring 2009. Would You Wear Tie-Dyed Jeans?

Ramey

Fergie’s talent for pulling off just about any kind of look makes her one of our favorite fashionistas. We dig her tough-girl concert style and love to see her heat up red carpet in sexy, refined gowns like this chic Calvin Klein. Never afraid to take a risk, she’s jumped on the light-wash denim trend and taken it for a tie-dye spin. It’s not our favorite Fergalicious moment, but we do like how she pairs the bold jeans with a tailored, classic button-down and pulls it all together with a bright belt to keep the rocker-chic look from crashing into Woodstock territory.
