Is it time for style icon Sarah Jessica Parker to finally pass the fashion torch? If your votes are any indication, yes.

After a tight race, Emma Watson managed to beat out the Sex and the City star and earn the top spot on our Best Dressed list.

Nearly 16,000 of you gave the young actress’s simple and chic Calvin Klein mini the thumbs up, putting her ahead of Parker by just a few hundred votes. It was close, but we’re not ordering a recount since we’re inclined to agree that Watson’s dress deserves the honor.

Watson finished off the illusion-neckline dress with chunky sandals and a pulled-back hairdo at ELLE’s Women in Hollywood event on Monday night.

Parker attended the same event and also selected Calvin Klein Collection. But she donned an icy silver sheath, burgundy velvet pumps and sparkly drop earrings. Tell us: Do you think Watson was the best dressed star this week? Or did Parker deserve the top spot?

How Fashion Helps Emma Watson Separate Herself from Hermione

Emma Watson was just 9 years old when she starred in the first Harry Potter film. Now, at 22 and with the franchise behind her, she’s determined to create her own identity outside of her most famous role.

“I was always either studying or filming,” Watson tells T: The New York Times Style Magazine when asked why she waited a while to take on a major role after Potter. “I didn’t have time to go off and do other films or other things to sort of show people that, Oh she is not just Hermione, she is an actress and she can go and do these other parts and roles.”

The British star graces the cover of the Women’s Fashion Fall 2012 issue of T to promote her first big project sans Hermione, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, out in September.

She also admits that along with unexpected movie choices, she uses fashion to distinguish herself from Hermione. Watson explains that she decided to take on beauty and fashion campaigns (including her Lancôme and Burberry gigs) to further differentiate herself from her brainiac character.

Celebs See Stars in Hollywood’s Hottest Sweater

Aug/07/2012 at 04:00 PM ET

Wildfox Sweater: Emma Watson, Miley Cyrus
INF; FameFlynet; Pacific Coast News; XPosure

Two stars in the same sweater is a coincidence. Three’s a trend. But what would you call 12 of Hollywood’s hottest wearing the same $198 Wildfox “Seeing Stars” sweater — a phenomenon?

Miley Cyrus
, Emma Watson, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Ashlee Simpson are just one-third of the celebs spotted in the brand’s slouchy, distressed sweater emblazoned with stars. The red version was a hit on the Fourth of July, spotted on Cyrus, Alessandra Ambrosio and Jessica Simpson; it’s also beloved by Ashley Tisdale (wearing hers here), Ellie Goulding and Mindy Kaling. Emma Roberts has sported the same black version as Simpson, while Halle Berry owns the olive version seen on Gellar. Finally, Christina Aguilera has been out wearing the white-and-purple version of the same starry style.

We love how each star puts her own spin on the distinctive top — from Cyrus’s pants-free look to Gellar’s maternity style — but we want to know: Who wears her Wildfox sweater best?

What Were the Hottest Trends on the MTV Movie Awards Red Carpet?

Besides seeing the hottest actors accept golden popcorn statues, you can always rely on the MTV Movie Awards for something else: the sexiest and most unconventional fashion choices.

While ‘lots of leg’ was a recurring theme on Sunday night’s red carpet, it was rather covered up compared to years past — though that’s not to say that the stars played it safe. We spotted two trends that — thanks to last night’s popularity — have officially become red carpet staples, and one that was totally unexpected.

Sexy menswear-inspired looks. Descendants star Shailene Woodley (left) skipped the expected mini-dress and instead opted for a Stella McCartney vest and pants. Her plunging top was a sexy twist on the menswear trend and a chic departure from the staid blazer. Janelle Monae also decided to leave the dress at home and wear something inspired by the boys.
