Can we have a heart-to-heart? It’s about this week’s Most Loved Looks competition. Don’t get us wrong, we wouldn’t mind stealing Katie Holmes’s Balenciaga LBD with white trim (worn to the Tiffany & Co. Blue Book Ball in N.Y.C.) — we just think we, as a StyleWatch democracy, can do better when it comes to crowning a winner. Read More

Emma Stone Hair Debate: Super-Straight or Super-Curly? We Take Sides

Apr/17/2014 at 09:00 AM ET

Fact 1: Emma Stone has shiny, gorgeous hair. Fact 2: She’s been nailing it on the red carpet while touring the globe to promote The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Fact 3: PeopleStyleWatch.com editors really love discussing these two previous facts. And during one of those discussions, a great debate started to brew. Does Emma’s hair look better straight or curly? Below, we bring you two strong opinions.

Brittany Talarico, Associate Style Editor: I love Emma, but she looked like she was going to a Great Gatsby theme party with that tight pin curl thing happening at the Berlin premiere of The Amazing Spider-Man. And I’m personally over the whole ’20s Gatsby vibe. Sure it’s glamorous and can be fun in the right context, but when you have such shiny healthy hair like the actress, wearing it sleek and straight is a no-brainer. Seriously, look how amazing it looks in the left photo above. She’s like a walking Keratin add. I also think her straight strands enhance her color. So next time you’re debating between the two looks Emma, always go straight. (Unless you’re doing the whole old Hollywood loose curl thing like this magic moment. That I’m okay with.)

Alex Apatoff, Style News Editor: Brittany, did you have a big bowl of Nope this morning? Emma’s curls are super-gorgeous. The only thing I don’t like about them is that there’s no way I’ll ever be able to replicate this look myself. Every star in Hollywood does the sleek, straight blowout, but so few ever experiment with gorgeous, goddess-y looks like this one (and I give her hair pro Mara Roszak major snaps for being able to pull all these styles off so beautifully — just look at the photo below!). I love that Emma’s willing to play with texture, length and volume. Maybe I’m biased as a curly girl myself, but I’ll take shiny spirals over simple strands anyday.

Whose side are you on? Share your thoughts below. And don’t forget to take a look at Emma’s straight to curly hair spectrum!

Correction to the headline above: Emma Stone‘s Amazing Spider-Man style tour proves a few things about the star. Her hair is perfect. Her skin is flawless. She knows how to rock an open-back dress in the most tasteful manner. (You get the point.) But we have noticed one definitive pattern in her recent red carpet dress choices: She can’t say no to a unique neckline. Read More

Nailed It: Emma Stone Does 'Modern Goddess' Right

Apr/10/2014 at 04:26 PM ET

Emma Stone Splash News Online (3)

Who: Emma Stone

Where: At the London premiere of The Amazing Spider-Man 2

What She’s Wearing: A marigold-yellow Atelier Versace dress with matching Swarovski crystal beading on the shoulders and waist, plus a David Webb necklace featuring two lion heads with emerald eyes

RELATED PHOTOS: Last night’s look: Love it or leave it?

Why She Nailed It: If a picture is worth 1,000 words, then please allow this gif at left to provide 3,000 words for us while we gape at this truly showstopping ensemble. Until now, Stone’s been sticking to menswear-inspired outfits and mod minis on her press tour, so the impact of her hitting the carpet in this incredibly romantic, curve-skimming gown is doubled.

She wisely let the bold color and open back keep the focus, adding only a chic jeweled collar and delicate sandals. And the hair and makeup are on point; the siren waves and just-bright-enough lip give her a glamorous ’40s vibe that really works for her. In fact, if you turned these photos black-and-white, you might mistake her for a real old Hollywood star — but then we’d miss out on the stunning shade of the dress.

Tell us: What do you think of Stone’s outfit? Are you as big a fan as we are?

We are huge fans of menswear in the PEOPLE StyleWatch offices, especially when it looks as good as it does on Emma Watson. And we’re equally big fans of fashion risk-takers. This week, those two worlds combined on three very different stars, all of whom accompanied their suit ensembles with noteworthy neck bows of varying sizes. Let’s discuss, shall we?
