What's Hot Now
Ellen DeGeneres and Sofia Vergara certainly didn’t check their egos at the door when filming their latest CoverGirl commercial — or at least are pretending to play prissy. The ladies are teaming up for the makeup brand’s newest ad campaign, set to air in January, and they’re each bringing their classic comedic timing to the spot.
While warming up for the shoot in the clip above, Vergara tells the cameras that she and DeGeneres are “a perfect match,” while the talk show hostess says she’s “dreading” the taping. As time goes on, Vergara teaches her costar some simple Spanish — but also trades insults with the megastar. Luckily, by the end of the tense shoot the two are exchanging niceties — even a hug!
Have you created a commercial for Keith Urban‘s Phoenix cologne yet? We don’t want to scare you … but you may have some competition. Ellen DeGeneres got into the game this week, creating a spoof ad with Urban and airing it on her show.
The country crooner keeps his cool as the talk show hostess spritzes him with water, cools him with ice and, well, gets very touchy-feely. The ad even comes with its own tagline: “Phoenix: It’s Hot.”
After the clip aired, Urban joked, “You know that you’re the only woman that would be okay with my wife, doing that.” DeGeneres’s reply? “I don’t know, she may get jealous of that.”
Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have successfully taken their signature street style to the masses, designing both a contemporary line, Elizabeth and James, and a high-end collection The Row. And although the duo have already received great recognition for their designs and scandal-free lives in the spotlight, when they visited The Ellen DeGeneres Show Friday morning, the host tweaked the twins’ about their love for mega-accessories with larger-than-life goody bags and paparazzi-proof shades! “So you’re known for like certain things right?” Ellen asked them. “So I had something made for both of you!” Watch as Ellen presents the fashion icons with what has to be the biggest accessories their closets have seen, telling the designing sisters, “You look fabulous!” –Jessie Goldberg
In the throes of New York Fashion Week‘s celebrity sightings and seating snafus, designer Richie Rich is still able to incite gasps. While Rich is no stranger to celebrities walking in his shows — everyone from Pamela Anderson to Kelis — this year he concluded his Spring/Summer 2011 presentation of over-the-top ensembles with a light-hearted surprise. With famous faces like Ice-T and wife Coco gracing the front row, fashion folks hooped and hollered when a spiky-haired Ellen DeGeneres emerged amidst a blast of silver confetti to close out the show clad in a miniature cap, metallic suit and white high-tops—all capped off with a satirical swagger that only she could pull off. With two major gigs–as host of her own talk show and as an American Idol judge–along with side jobs as a face of brands like CoverGirl and Vitaminwater Zero, it’s amazing that Ellen DeGeneres has the energy to eat dinner, much less keep her audience in stitches. So, what’s the slim 52-year-old comedian’s secret to staying energized and fit? “No cake, no cookies, no candy,” says the cover model, talking about her “sugar fast,” in this month’s issue of Shape. A committed vegan, DeGeneres also says her regular regime includes “no animals, no dairy, nothing processed; a lot of soup, veggies, rice, beans, legumes.” And she views these dietary restrictions as a positive thing, saying, “I want to be on my toes; I want to have energy. And as much as the diet seems like a sacrifice, it’s helping me.” She’s also a devotee of daily sun salutations: “I first started doing power yoga in L.A., which really makes no sense,” she jokes. “Power yoga? It’s the opposite of what it should be. Yoga should calm you down!” And how does the star find time for exercise in her crazy, frenetic life? “It’s hard,” she says. “But you have to make time to take care of yourself.” To read more from Ellen, pick up the May issue of Shape or visit shape.com. – Marissa Patlingrao Cooley
Looks like Gwyneth Paltrow isn’t the only star putting her spring cleaning up on eBay for charity! Ellen Degeneres is getting into the spirit, clearing out her closet to benefit The Humane Society. The animal lover has teamed up with eBay for a series of online auctions that start today and run through May 8. “Today, we’re starting something brand new. It’s called, ‘Whatcha Sellin’ Ellen?’” Degeneres announced on her show, explaining, “I’ll be auctioning off my clothes and some of my guests’ clothes on eBay to raise money for The Humane Society of the United States. Every week there will be 25 items up for auction. Some things I only wore once. Some twice. And some I slept in. But they’re clean…ish,” she jokes. Click here to get bidding on Ellen’s goods, which start at just $1 each — and be sure to check back Tuesdays when she adds new items. 100% of winning bids will be donated to the Humane Society to help animals in need.
