Now that warmer weather is finally on its way, wintry nail polish hues (think black, navy and wine) are making their red carpet exits — and making room for new hues. Our favorite of the latest crop: this pale blue hue, which seems to have popped up overnight. And Hollywood’s leading ladies are (sorry, we have to) nailing it! Drew Barrymore's Bridal Beauty Advice: 'Look Like Yourself on Your Wedding Day'

Mar/06/2014 at 05:13 PM ET

Drew Barrymore loves to play around with makeup, which was one of the reasons she founded her own cosmetics line, Flower Beauty. The actress also loves to share beauty advice with fans, and she has a very strong opinion for brides-to-be: Don’t go crazy with the face paint on your wedding day.

“That day is so surreal and important and long-lasting for people, I think the biggest mistake you can make is to overdo it,” she said at her Flower Beauty spring launch in N.Y.C. “Look like yourself on your wedding day — don’t go with crazy spiral curls and some heavy foundation and look back at that picture and be like, ‘Whoa, that doesn’t look like me.’ It should be you but the most enhanced, beautiful natural version of yourself.”

And for those brides thinking about making a big beauty move for the trip down the aisle, Barrymore urges for a softer approach. “I appreciate some women who are like, ‘I really want to change my hair color for that day,’ but it’s not the time to play around. If you are thinking of doing something bold like a nail, pick a shade that has powders and grays and neutrals in it so it tones down the ‘cuckoo factor.’ I think wedding days and ‘cuckoo factor’ are not a good combination.” Read More

Drew Barrymore: I'm Still Wearing the Brown-Red Lipstick Shades from the '90s (The Bangs, Not So Much)

If you’re mildly-obsessed with Drew Barrymore, you’re not alone. The actress-slash-philanthropist-slash-beauty maven is just super cool. Case in point: She knows how to poke fun at herself, especially when it comes to the fashion and beauty decisions of her past.

“I saw what I wore to concerts and red carpets, and I was like, ‘That s–t is crazy,’ but I’m so glad I did it,” Barrymore told PEOPLE of her beauty history. “I’m such a mom now, but it makes me happy to know I had those moments in life. One thing I do love from the ’90s is the brown-red lipsticks. I never did the frosted lips, because it never looked good on me. As crazy as I was, those Wet’n’Wild colors, I knew not to do that.”

At the N.Y.C. launch event for her Flower Beauty spring collection, Barrymore did share one beauty regret from the past: “I’d do the blow dryer and the AquaNet at the same time on my bangs. And that wasn’t so attractive. I looked like Peppermint Patty.”

And she did just that Thursday night at the Estée Lauder Modern Muse event in N.Y.C., sporting a fresh, glowing face complete with orange-kissed lips that we loved so much, we couldn’t resist getting all the scoop exclusively from the star herself.
