Britney Spears may be a pop-star diva to the rest of the world, but to beau Jason Trawick, “she’s his everyday princess,” says celebrity jeweler Neil Lane, who designed Spears’s dazzling engagement ring to befit Trawick’s vision of the singer’s down-home regality. “Jason is a romantic and when I asked him to tell me about Britney and what the ring would represent to them so I could find inspiration, his response was always the same — she is his princess!”

With that theme in mind, Lane tells PEOPLE he designed from scratch a tiara-motif sparkler with a round, perfect white diamond in a handmade platinum setting that “looks like a mini crown,” the celebrated jeweler says. He also added 90 small round diamonds around the eternity band. “Jason didn’t want an over-the-top ring with a giant stone,” he adds.

Over the last month, Lane and Trawick clocked phone and email minutes as they collaborated while Trawick was traveling with Spears on her global tour. “Texts came from all over the world, from Abu Dhabi, Mexico and I don’t know where else!” says Lane.

But when Trawick stopped into Lane’s Los Angeles store to pick up the ring — less than one week before the proposal! — they both knew the hard work and scheming had paid off. “Oh my god, he loved it,” Lane shares, adding that he could tell Trawick had pre-proposal jitters. “The guy was so excited and nervous. At the end of the day, even with all the fame, he’s still a normal guy who was about to propose to the woman he loves.”

That said, Lane believes this couple is in it for the long haul. “He’s deeply in love with her. Britney is his princess and he is her knight in shining armor,” he says. “Jason’s protective of her. He adores her. Every good fairytale needs a princess, and now Britney has a ring fit for a princess!”

It’s infused with a splash of citrus along with notes of amber, sandalwood and liquid vanilla. When Britney Spears needs a pre-show powder touch-up, who does she call? Her sons! In an adorable photo posted to her Twitter account recently, Spears received a bit of blush and a quick comb-through from her little ones, Sean Preston and Jayden James. “Almost finished with my hair and makeup Anaheim,” she Tweeted to California fans. “See you soon.” The pint-sized guys have been following Spears on her Femme Fatale tour, nabbing front-row concert seats with her boyfriend Jason Trawick and spending time at kid-friendly sights in cities like Las Vegas when they’re not on makeup duty.

When Britney Spears hits the tour circuit in Sacramento, Calif., come Thursday, she’ll be dancing “Till the World Ends” in her signature sexy style. We got a sneak peek of the singer’s sultry “Femme Fatale” tour costumes, courtesy of designer Zaldy Goco, and the looks are smoldering. “The true muse for me … is Britney herself,” Goco tells PEOPLE. “She has such a clear idea of how she wants to present herself and what she wants to deliver to her fans.” The show’s concept, though, comes from tour director Jamie King, who wanted to present femme fatales throughout the years. “The idea to create iconic personas or disguises for Britney was really inspirational,” Goco says. Spears will take the stage in a shimmering silver outfit — “the simple colorless crystal is so pure on stage, the brilliance is like nothing else,” Goco shares — and during her performances, change into looks like a mirrored gold jacket, snake charmer outfit, kimono featuring a “Japanime Britney” and more. There’s also some “spikey stud couture,” as Goco says; a purple leather jacket covered with thousands of pink chrome studs, safety pins, spikes and chains. “It’s something you haven’t seen before,” he explains. “We found the one place in America that could make that dream come true.” But the true showstopper? Her daring black Swarovski crystal-covered closing number outfit, which illuminates with LED lights and animates fire and lightening. After wowing a crowd in Vegas last weekend and dropping her brand new album, Femme Fatale, Tuesday, it’s clear that pop princess Britney Spears is back on top. And it seems she’s bringing her fashion sense along for the ride. Though she’s not known for stepping out in high-fashion looks, Spears is upping her style ante, donning several sexy ensembles from Italian designers Dolce & Gabbana in promotional images for her album. “We love Britney and we love to dance to her new songs! We can’t wait to hear the whole album,” the design duo told U.K.’s Telegraph. “She has always been among our favourite artists because she has been able to remain true to herself and to her style throughout the years. With her music she influenced and inspired generations of people for more than 10 years, always staying at the top, and we can’t but congratulate her for this new, important achievement.” In the photos, Spears sports three sensual looks, including a polka-dot bodysuit, golden gown and black corset top. She did it again! Days after her sultry V magazine cover was released, Britney Spears strikes several seductive poses for April’s Out in the publication’s first-ever “Ladies We Love” issue. In a series of super-personal questions, Spears talks about everything from the best advice she’s received — “My mom said when you have a bad day, eat ice cream,” she shares — to her favorite Golden Girl (Betty White, for the record). But she also dishes on aging and beauty, even touching on the topic of plastic surgery. “When it’s time to pull and tuck, I’m sure I will consider it,” she reveals. Sharing that she’s “excited to be out of [her] 20s,” Spears goes on to say that she’s worked to mold her career after, not surprisingly, Madonna. Justin Bieber is getting in touch with his feminine side. The pop star, 16, is working on his own fragrance line —just for the ladies. “It’s for my female fans, and I want to create something that will have the girls go crazy,” Bieber tells PEOPLE exclusively of the currently unnamed scent, which launches in high-end department stores next summer. “Most male celebrities do male colognes for other males,” Bieber adds. “I think that me making a female fragrance is just a different idea and I think it’s going to be successful. I’m just really, really excited about it. It’s going to be really big.” The Biebs, who also recently announced a unisex line of scented accessories, says Britney Spears‘ fragrances are currently his favorite perfumes on the market, but is less forthcoming when it comes to discussing his preference on colognes. “I can’t tell you what I wear,” he says with a laugh. “It’s got to be mysterious.” Bieber, who teamed on the scent with Give Back Brands, a lifestyle products company committed to donating its proceeds to charity, isn’t getting a helping hand from any of his celebrity pals. “This is my project and I want to be hands on,” he says. If Molly Sims could give any celebrity a makeover, she says it’d be Britney Spears. “I would take away the boots, the tank tops,” Sims, 37, says in the September issue of Health magazine. “She’s so pretty-she just needs help with dressing. She gets too many trends going at once.” But the actress and cover model admits that she’s had her own share of flawed fashion moments. “I had braces for two-and-a-half years, and I promise you, I wouldn’t have been the same girl if I didn’t. Britney Spears is shining the spotlight on her ninth and newest fragrance, Radiance, taking to her Twitter account Wednesday to share an image from the scent’s ad campaign. “Just got the imaging for my new fragrance Radiance and thought I’d share it with all my tweethearts,” the singer wrote. Showcasing a more subdued and elegantly-clad version of our favorite pop princess, the ad comes just weeks before the floral fragrance from Elizabeth Arden hits counters in September. “I love the feminine scent of my new perfume Radiance. It has the power to make any woman feel beautiful,” Brit says in a release. The perfume’s packaging has Britney written all over it—decorated with pink, blue and translucent gemstones. Talk about a bad hair day! Britney Spears was snapped shopping in Sherman Oaks, California, Wednesday with a messy, extension baring look that set the internet abuzz with fans speculating about exactly what was happening to her scalp. Was she going bald? Were her extensions done incorrectly? We checked in with hairstylist-to-the stars Ken Paves–who has his own line of extensions that he uses on clients like Eva Longoria Parker and Jessica Simpson–to learn the truth. “It’s not that big of a deal actually, we have all seen this before. A case of bed head, who hasn’t had it?,” Paves tells PEOPLE. “The truth is that this is exactly how these extensions are applied, however we are not supposed to see them, that’s all. There are thousands and thousands of women walking around whose hair looks just like that ‘underneath’. The remedy is simply to cover it up. It’s not a case of bad extensions, just a bad hair day!” His recommendation? “I am more concerned with the friend walking behind her who didn’t tell her right away! Not content to just be the face of the brand–and an international megastar!–Britney Spears is designing her own new limited edition apparel and accessories collection for Candie’s set to exclusively hit Kohl’s stores and kohls.com on July 1. Britney tells InStyle.com that she was hands-on in the creation process of the line, from meeting with Candie’s designers to helping them sketch some of her favorite looks. “My personal style is a mix of comfortable and flirty,” she tells InStyle.com. “I love cute little dresses, but I also love comfy sweaters and jeans.” So what can we expect from the star’s design debut? “I used a lot of studs and lace because I wanted to make the clothes cool and edgy yet girly,” Brit says, likening the assortment to some of her own must-have wardrobe staples. “I also love jeans, so I had to make sure there were some great pairs in the collection.” Also expect big necklaces and earrings as well as Brit’s favorite–a black trench coat. And like any good star designer, Britney will also appear in the national print, TV and and online campaign for Kohl’s, featuring the singer wearing the collection along with personal handwritten notes such as, “You’ll love these jeans!” with the tagline, “Designed by me for you!” The collection of apparel, handbags and jewelry will range from $14-$78. Britney Spears is no longer just the pretty face behind Candie’s for Kohl’s ultra-girly ads. Taking to her Twitter page last week, the pop star tweeted, “At my photo shoot for the limited edition collection I designed for Candie’s! I think you guys will love it!” And now, Candie’s confirms that after three seasons, the spokesmodel has officially turned designer for the brand with Britney for Candie’s, an exclusive, limited-edition collection of apparel and accessories set to hit Kohl’s stores and kohls.com this July. The new line will be a reflection of the star’s own personal style, with prices ranging from $24 to $58. To top the success of Britney Spears’ run as the face of juniors’ apparel line Candie’s Only at Kohl’s last year, the fashion brand has lined up not one, but three, of the best known photographers on the planet to shoot her newest campaign. The new series of ads, shot by Annie Leibovitz, Mark Seliger and Terry Richardson at Paramount Studios in Hollywood late last year, pay homage to the 28-year-old star’s versatility by showing her “through the lens” of the famous photographers. Through a release, Spears weighed in on the experience: “Annie, Mark and Terry are three of the biggest photographers in the world, I am honored to be working with them for my Candie’s Only at Kohl’s ads. It was an amazing shoot and I know my fans are going to love the cool images.” Each photographer brought out very different sides of the performer, with Leibovitz opting for an industrial backdrop, and Richardson working on a plain white set, while Seliger created two elaborate scenarios: one involving a custom-made pink Harley-Davidson motorcycle on lush green grass, and the other inspired by a French burlesque performer’s dressing room. The latter, shown at top left here, features Spears lounging on a chaise in full pin-up girl mode, surrounded by feather boas, bouquets of flowers, and fanciful, all-pink decor. The star arrived in a sexy, see-through Dolce & Gabbana lace dress over a bodysuit that reminds us of a classic Brit-Brit style moment — her sheer black lace dress over a bra top and hot pants at the 2001 VMAS, also by Dolce & Gabbana. On the heels of last weekend’s Hope for Haiti telethon, stars continue to rally for the relief effort, this time opening up their closets for the cause. Britney Spears will be auctioning off one of the two shimmery silver Versace dresses she wore to the MTV Video Music Awards in 2008—which might even be a good luck charm, given that was the same night she made her comeback performance after her public meltdown and took home three wins in the process. Details as to the specific dress and charity have yet to be released. And she’s not the only star who’s opening her closet to benefit the earthquake-stricken country.
