May/17/2013 at 05:00 PM ET

The weather is warm, the barbeques are getting fired up and it’s time to start changing over your winter wardrobe. Below, check out three sweet, lacy looks to take you from date night to work Monday morning — no coats required.

Ashley Tisdale orange dress INF

Saturday night: This dress is like the holy grail of man attraction. It’s bright, it’s short and it’s girlie without being syrup-y sweet. Add some sexy ankle-strap metallic heels (Ashley Tisdale‘s are Schutz) and leave your hair loose, and we guarantee his eyes will be glued to you all night. This $60 Asos dress has a similarly sassy, citrus-y vibe, and these Michael Antonio heels will make your legs look miles long for less than $50. Skip the coat and borrow his jacket if it gets chilly once the sun goes down.

Red Carpet Trend Report: The Scoop on Pretty Ponies, Wrist Candy and Peep-Toe Booties

In our weekly round-up of what we’re seeing sizzle (and fizzle) on the red carpet, we saw bracelets get swapped out for plain ol’ wristwatches, an abundance of lovely, slicked-back strands — and one instance of confused-weather footwear that we think can be retired right about now.

Up: Elegant ponytails. Perhaps blame it on the transitional weather, but plenty of stars this week opted to smooth their hair back into elegant, classic ponytails and not risk the frizz factor. Zoë Saldana had one of our favorites, but Julianne Hough, Olivia Munn, Miranda Kerr and Heidi Klum have all worn their hair tightly pulled back into a pretty, simple style.

Red Carpet Trend Report: What’s Sizzling and What’s Fizzling

Aug/23/2012 at 06:00 PM ET

With one week of summer left, you’d assume the stars would be rocking their shortest minis, strappiest sandals and brightest dresses on the red carpet. But apparently some celebs just can’t wait to debut their fall wardrobes. Check out this week’s on-the-rise trends and one look that (sadly) appears to be on its way out:

Up: Wide-leg dress pants: Say bye-bye to short-shorts because it’s all about the wide-leg pant. Kristen Bell‘s black Jenny Packham jumpsuit mixes two totally different vibes — a ’70s pant silhouette and a futuristic sculptural satin top — to create one stunning look. And another plus to the popular pant cut is it’s flattering on all body types.

Celebs See Stars in Hollywood’s Hottest Sweater

Aug/07/2012 at 04:00 PM ET

Wildfox Sweater: Emma Watson, Miley Cyrus
INF; FameFlynet; Pacific Coast News; XPosure

Two stars in the same sweater is a coincidence. Three’s a trend. But what would you call 12 of Hollywood’s hottest wearing the same $198 Wildfox “Seeing Stars” sweater — a phenomenon?

Miley Cyrus
, Emma Watson, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Ashlee Simpson are just one-third of the celebs spotted in the brand’s slouchy, distressed sweater emblazoned with stars. The red version was a hit on the Fourth of July, spotted on Cyrus, Alessandra Ambrosio and Jessica Simpson; it’s also beloved by Ashley Tisdale (wearing hers here), Ellie Goulding and Mindy Kaling. Emma Roberts has sported the same black version as Simpson, while Halle Berry owns the olive version seen on Gellar. Finally, Christina Aguilera has been out wearing the white-and-purple version of the same starry style.

We love how each star puts her own spin on the distinctive top — from Cyrus’s pants-free look to Gellar’s maternity style — but we want to know: Who wears her Wildfox sweater best?

Is Ashley Tisdale & Julianne Hough’s Latest Hairstyle Red Carpet Appropriate?

Jun/14/2012 at 09:00 AM ET

Top Knot HairstyleJason LaVeris/FilmMagic; AFF-USA

We’re totally fans of the topknot, but the messy topknot? Now that’s up for debate.

Our favorite stars have been rocking beachy waves, boho braids and even some unpolished updos on the red carpet lately (and we love it!), but the unkempt topknot looks exactly how it sounds: unkempt.

Ashley Tisdale and Julianne Hough both tried the hairstyle recently, and while we can appreciate the ease of the ‘do and the “I’m not trying too hard” vibe, it just doesn’t seem to mesh well with a gorgeous gown.

In our opinion, the look is much better suited for a low-key outfit, like denim cutoffs paired with a T-shirt and boots. Why wear a knockout dress — like both starlets did — and make it less formal with a less-than-perfect hairstyle? What do you think of the hairdo? Is it right for the red carpet or better suited for the daytime? Vote in our poll below!
