An Open (Love) Letter to Ashley Greene’s Hair

Dear Ashley,

We were already enamored with your sense of style and your humility, and now you have us falling in love with your hair. (Seriously, it’s like Duchess Catherine, who?)

Arriving at the Butter premiere in New York last night, you looked great in your Donna Karan dress and pretty accessories, but it was those tumbling glossy waves that really gave us pause. We couldn’t detect so much as a flyaway amongst your rich brown curls.

According to your hairstylist, Ted Gibson, the look did require a bit of assistance in the form of gel, shine lotion, hairspray, a blow-dryer, a flat brush and a curling iron. Not to mention some extensions (which is fine, since if that was all your own hair, we’d be too jealous to write you this letter).

Just wanted to let you know that while we’re not busy trying to replicate your look this weekend, we’ll be working on our “We Love Ashley Greene’s Hair” Pinterest board.

Love, StyleWatch

Before MTV Video Music Awards and New York Fashion Week mania set in, sneak a peek at what we spotted on the red carpet at the most glam Hollywood happenings this week, which led us to find the trends we’re loving — and the one we’re totally over:

Up: Flouncy leather skirts: Stars couldn’t get enough of summer leather, and it looks like they’ll be wearing the luxe fabric well into fall. Lucy Hale‘s mini is more sweet than sexy thanks to the flirty silhouette. Plus, we love that she paired it with a lace top (another trend we’re into this season).

Friday Flashback: Ashley Greene’s First ‘Twilight’ Premiere

Entertainment Press/Splash News Online

It seems like only yesterday (OK, it was actually 2008) that Ashley Greene and the Twilight gang were premiering their first vampy film in Hollywood — before hook-ups, breakups and scandals rocked the cast. How times change.

Greene, who at the time had just a few minor credits on her résumé, hit the red carpet that November night in a spaghetti-strap black dress with an embellished waistline and ruffled skirt, plus strappy, sassy sandals.

It was a solid first effort — we wonder, did she already have a stylist? — but we much prefer the stunning DKNY and Donna Karan ensembles she’s chosen since becoming a face of the line.

Now that Greene’s a true leading lady, with a new movie, The Apparition, out today (check out her stunning ensemble from Thursday night’s premiere!), it’s funny to think that four years ago, we had no idea what a fashionista she’d become.

Ashley Greene Debuts Lighter Hair Color

Though summer’s almost over, it looks like Ashley Greene is trying to extend the season via her hair color, unveiling a new sun-kissed look at the Do Something Awards in Hollywood on Sunday. Until now, the Twilight star had been sporting a rich dark brown shade.

Back in April, Greene said she was done dyeing her hair, revealing she’s tried “every color under the sun.” But it appears she couldn’t resist the urge to hit the (hair color) bottle once again.

While coloring might be her weakness, what we’d really like to see from Greene is a super-short cut, à la Alice Cullen. We already know she wears it well, and you never know: she may miss the short style once she sees it for the last time in Breaking Dawn this November. Tell us: What do you think of Greene’s lighter locks?

Why Ashley Greene Wants You to Throw Your Pastel Jeans in the Dryer

For Ashley Greene, nothing beats a great pair of jeans. “I’m all over the spectrum with jeans,” she told PEOPLE recently. “I grew up in Florida, so I’m really big on jean short cut-offs. I’m also a big fan of either the super-loungy boyfriend supersized jeans or a great pair of skinnies.”

Speaking to PEOPLE at West Hollywood’s Chateau Marmont for a party celebrating Nylon magazine’s August denim issue (the Breaking Dawn star is the cover girl), Greene, the face of DKNY Jeans, elaborated on her love of all things denim — and stressed the importance of fit.

“A lot of times with me, [jeans] fit at the waist but not necessarily on the lower part of my body because I tend to be more narrow,” she explained. “It’s honestly worth investing in your favorite two pairs and getting them tailored to fit to your body.”

When it comes to wearing this season’s trendy colored denim styles, Greene chooses wisely. “I always tell people to err on the side of caution and get a size up because they are not as forgiving as dark-wash jeans,” she explained. “White jeans are unforgiving and any pastel-colored jean is extremely unforgiving.”

Why Ashley Greene Feels She Has ‘More Style’ These Days

Jul/30/2012 at 06:00 PM ET

Ashley Greene‘s style has changed for the better through the years — at least the actress believes so.

“I have more of it — more style and stuff!” Greene jokes on Harper’s Bazaar‘s new YouTube show, The Look. “I think I’ve just become aware of what works on me and what doesn’t. And that trends don’t work for everybody — most people in fact.”

Something else has changed fashion-wise for the Twilight star: ”I have to make sure I look half-decent when I walk out of the house … I can’t wear pajamas to the grocery store anymore.”

And though the face of DKNY prefers “skinny jeans, flats, a nice top and a purse” for her daytime look, she finally feels at ease on the red carpet. “At the second Twilight premiere, I felt very glamorous and I was comfortable,” she says. “I was kind of having more fun with fashion, as compared to like walking around wide-eyed because I grew up in Jacksonville. We wear shorts and T-shirts.”

Check out the entire episode of Harper’s Bazaar‘s The Look to hear more from Greene.
