Ashlee Simpson keeps it sporty, pairing them with her low-top Converse sneakers. Jessica Alba playfully wears them in a contrasting color over a pair of black opaque tights. Looks like the new year is bringing some drastic changes for lots of our favorite stars — at least when it comes to their hair. In the past couple weeks alone we’ve seen Amy Winehouse go platinum, Jessica Biel go honey blonde and Lindsay Lohan fade to black. Now we can add Ashlee Simpson to that growing list. The singer showed off a new dark auburn hue while stepping out with boyfriend Pete Wentz for the Cloverfield premiere in L.A. last night. And while changing up her look is nothing new to the star, who as a teen sported signature dark locks, we’d gotten so used to the softer blonde look she’d favored recently. Ashlee Simpson turned up at the Hollywood Style Awards last weekend with such pin-straight hair that we had to look twice — and compare it to her usual soft waves! The sleek and straight look definitely complemented her somber black dress, but it’s great to see her in a sexy party dress with tousled hair too! – The couple that shops together, stays together! ASHLEE SIMPSON, sharing a shopping expedition with rocker beau PETE WENTZ. After strolling down Rodeo Drive together, the pair hit up the Dior Store for some (aww) joint shopping.

– HILARY DUFF, causing quite a stir at Malgosia in Los Angeles. The singer popped into the boutique — which carries unique designers from around the world — and left with some one-of-a-kind finds.

– JOHNNY KNOXVILLE, clothes hunting at Fred Segal in Santa Monica. After making a few rounds through the store, the Jackass star picked up a Steelo blazer to go.

– Meanwhile, EMMA ROBERTS, took a break from filming her new movie Wild Child in Santa Monica and shopped at Fred Segal Fun where she bought a peacoat from Minnie & Rose.

– HEIDI MONTAG, shopped at Rumor Boutique in Los Angeles. By her side, fiance Spencer offered his approval. And the Hills star left with two dresses: a short, sexy Voom by Joy Han silver dress and a sparkly red mini by Flavio Castellani. And Montag also picked up some accessories [DASH] a pair of Jour & Nuit five-inch satin peep toe pumps with Swarovski crystals and a patent leather clutch by Andarei to accessorize her special outfit.

– IVANKA TRUMP, indulging her sensual side with a visit to Bergdorf Goodman in New York. Her purchase? Some Le Mystere No. 9 lingerie!

– CHRISTINA AGUILERA, picking out gear for her home with hubby JORDAN BRATMAN. The pair stopped by La Murrina showroom in Los Angeles, and scoped out the premiere Italian showroom. They also looked at Minotti and Bontempi’s rooms while deciding how to outfit their home.

When we spotted Ashlee Simpson sitting front row at the BCBG Max Azria show last week, we had no idea that she was there with a purpose — getting a hot dress for the VMAs red carpet. But as soon as look 30 rolled down the runway, Ashlee turned to her mother Tina and excitedly pointed it out as a favorite, according to those seated near her. And she turned up only four days later in the chic black dress on the VMAs red carpet! As stylish as the dress looked on the runway, we think Ashlee did it justice with her own sexy style. Both Ashlee Simpson and Jessica Simpson were in N.Y.C last night, hitting some of the many Fashion Week parties. Jessica actually turned up to support Tim Gunn at the launch party for his new show, while Ashlee cozied up with boyfriend Pete Wentz at the Fashion Rocks event. While sisters may not have been in the same room, they had the same hot makeup — check out their smoky eyes! We love their barely-done faces that enhance the wow factor of their dark-shaded lids.
