Even though they’re grownups, Jessica and Ashlee Simpson still listen to their mom, Tina. Case in point: it was her idea to have them create a clothing line for young girls together.

“My mother thought it would be great to combine both of our styles, both of our personalities,” Jessica told Fashionista.com Thursday during a party for the line in New York. Though it’s the sisters’ first time working together, “it feels like we always work together,” Jessica said.

The line combines what Jessica calls “Ashlee’s rock ‘n’ roll, cool, boho-chic” aesthetic with her own “all-American girl” look. “I’m pretty classic, I’m pretty easy going,” she said. “Combining the two is always fun.”

And thankfully, working together caused zero tension for the superstars. “We loved being in the approval meetings together, we loved inspiration shopping together,” she shared. “It’s been fun. I feel like all these little girls are wearing stuff that Ashlee and I would both wear.”

From the sounds of it, Jessica is creating even more items she’d wear: the mom-to-be revealed that she’s currently working on a maternity line. “We’re looking into launching around February,” she said, “but we’ll see.”

When designer Charlotte Ronson created her latest I Heart Ronson for JCPenney collection, she wanted it to reflect warm-weather fun. “The inspiration for this line is summer picnic,” she told PEOPLE at a Svedka-sponsored bash celebrating the latest attire. “Summer florals, ginghams and maxi dresses, those kind of free-flowing styles you can wear from day to night. That is my philosophy for everything I design.” The line’s versatility was a big hit with stars like Nicole Richie, Ashlee Simpson and Jordana Brewster, who all came out to The Roosevelt Hotel’s Spare Room in support of Ronson. “You can pair [the dresses] with some flip flops and wear them during the day or dress them up at night with a pair of wedges and a fancy bag,” said Brewster. “They are seamless.” Being that it was June 21, the first day of summer, talk turned to this season’s fashion favorites. For a Ronson-clad Paris Hilton, that includes “definitely a bikini, pretty sandals, big hats and big sunglasses. I love Hervé Léger bikinis and Jimmy Choo sandals.” Sister Nicky Hilton prefers “Paige cut-off shorts, a cute top, rompers, gladiator sandals and wedges,” she told PEOPLE. She’s helped teens dress for prom, and now, she’ll be helping them dress for everyday life! Jessica Simpson is teaming up with little sis Ashlee to create a line of tween apparel as part of the Jessica Simpson Collection, according to WWD. The new products, available in stores in fall, will be geared to the fashion-forward tween and will feature sportswear, denim and activewear styled after Simpson’s “girly, playful attitude,” the trade mag reports. Knit tops, hoodies, pullovers, striped shrunken knits, graphic T-shirts, drawstring pants, footwear and outerwear will all be part of the collection, with both Jessica and Ashlee serving as co-creative directors for the line.
”Creating a tween apparel collection was a natural extension for the brand,” Jessica tells WWD. “I’m excited to bring my sister, Ashlee, along as co-creative director of this division, because she brings a savvy rocker edge that defines today’s tweens.”
Ashlee, who has always been a big supporter of her big sis’s empire, agrees. “My goal as co-creative director will be to design clothes that will help inspire young girls to express their personalities and creativity through fashion.” This marks the first time the sisters are collaborating on a fashion venture. Pete Wentz may have his own successful clothing line, Clandestine Industries, but he lets his fashionable wife Ashlee Simpson-Wentz take the lead in their couple style. “If I go out with her, I consider myself a walking purse,” he tells ELLE.com. “So I just try to match her outfit. Looking for jeans with a $200 fit without the price tag?  Look no further than Gap’s latest denim line — the 1969 Premium Jeans Collection.  From Halle Berry and Molly Sims to Ashlee Simpson and Emma Roberts, fashion forward celebs jammed to tunes spun by Joel Madden Thursday night, while perusing the new wallet-friendly collection at the 1969 Jeans Shop, a temporary pop-up shop on trendy Robertson Blvd in West Hollywood.  And the ladies couldn’t stop raving about the line, which features 14 different styles for men and women in the softest denim and most stylish washes, all for under $60.  “Gap is always good at the classic jeans — they fit [well] and they’re easy to wear,” Simpson told PEOPLE.  And she wasn’t the only enthusiast. The favorite pick of the evening?  The “Always Skinny” jean, rocked by Berry, Cobb, Roberts, and Entourage’s Constance Zimmer.  “I just picked up four, five new pairs,” confessed Roberts.  Gap creative director Patrick Robinson is to thank for the new recessionista obsession: Robinson spent a year and a half fine-tuning the line, from shopping around for fabrics, and teaching factories how to make those perfect hand-made finishes, to working with several body types to master that perfect fit.  “For me, honestly, these are the best fitting jeans in the world.  We’ll go up against any brand of any jean, and these fit better,” says Robinson.  “We want[ed] jeans that, for women, make you have the best butt in the world. Pete opened up to PEOPLE about his hair challenges last night in Chicago, where he hosted Gen Art’s 6th Annual Fresh Faces in Fashion and sat front-row during the Windy City’s fashion week with wife Ashlee Simpson-Wentz by his side. “Here’s the thing about hair; I think most people think that I have Lego hair, like I can just take it on and off in one piece, and that’s not quite the case — although pretty close,” he said. “I refer to this [phenomenon] as Lego hair, when people think that about me.” Pete went on to joke about the importance of spending enough time making your hair look good. “I think hair is just, like, the most important thing about you,” he joked. “Besides your soul, or maybe your heart, or maybe your crotch…. His Clandestine Industries line has a collection that recently hit Nordstrom, and Pete Wentz says one major inspiration is his new — and pregnant! — fiancee, Ashlee Simpson.”She is a good sounding board for me,” Wentz told PEOPLE on Thursday. “She’s really supportive and always positive but sometimes she’ll get me to rethink [things]. Like I’ll be like, ‘We should do a half-plaid, half-pastel hoodie!’ And she’ll be like, ‘I like it, but maybe you should do it as two separate hoodies.’ She’s good like that.” As for Ashlee’s new line at Wet Seal, Pete admits, “I haven’t really seen it [yet].” When asked what life is like not only as a fashion designer and musician, but also as a husband and father to be, Wentz sums up his feelings very simply: “I’m happy!”
