Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have put their creative minds to something new — elegant serpent-themed jewelry! The power couple has teamed with a top British jeweler Asprey to come up with a series of designs for everything from earrings, pendants, bangles, rings to a silver spoon and egg cup. And, like so much of their life away from the cameras, the collection will benefit others. All the net proceeds will go to the Education Partnership for Children of Conflict, to which the couple has already donated $1 million via the Jolie-Pitt Foundation in June 2008. For Jolie, 34, the inspiration for the collection was an obvious one. While she was expecting Shiloh in 2006, she was given a special gift — a protective snake ring. It was seen as a protector for mother and unborn child, and Jolie has come to view the motif as something of a family guardian. “Since then she has seen the snake symbol as a protective talisman for her family,” a source at Asprey tells PEOPLE. The series started out as something for children — 16-month-old Vivienne has already been photographed wearing bangles with the snake motifs– but has developed into the limited edition “Protector Collection” of high end jewelry and other luxuries, which does still include children’s items like a tooth box and silver egg cup. Angelina Jolie has dominated the red carpet at Cannes over the past few years, from her bright citron Emanuel Ungaro gown to her green Max Azria maternity gown last year, and 2009 is shaping up to be no exception. The star joined her partner Brad Pitt for the premiere of his new film “Inglourious Basterds” in a super-sexy draped Versace Atelier gown in a tea rose color. But what really caught our eye is the thigh-high slit on her gown, exposing pretty much all of her perfectly toned right leg. Angelina Jolie may have her hands full caring for her newborn twins and four other children, but she still finds time for another passion — fashion! Jen Rade, Jolie’s longtime stylist, told PEOPLE at W’s New York Affair this week that despite Angie’s large brood, it’s not hard to get the mother-of-six on the phone to discuss her sartorial options. “No, [it's not tough], but she’s definitely got a lot going on. Any time you talk to her there’s a lot of kids in the background, that’s for sure.” Rade is working with Jolie to dress her for the Changeling junket later this month, as well as the film’s premiere October 4th. “It’ll be her first big US appearance since having the babies,” Rade says. “I feel some pressure, but I think I can do it. We’ve been doing it for five years together.” Is it a challenge finding clothes that work for Jolie’s post-pregnancy body? “Not really. She’s breastfeeding so the boobs are bigger, but no. It’s going to be fun. I’m looking forward to it.” Rade describes Jolie’s style as “kind of classic with a rock and roll edge” and says she loves working with Angelina because “she’s funny and smart.” Plus, she’s a fab mom: “She loves it — or else she wouldn’t do it.” – Reporting by Kathy Ehrich Dowd.

She may be about to add twins to the ever-growing Brangelina brood, but it looks like Angelina Jolie is about to lighten the load in at least one area of her life. WWD reports that the actress will be ending her three-year position as the face of St. John knitwear, for which she starred in a series of iconic black and white photographs by famed fashion photographer Mario Testino. According to the paper, Jolie will be replaced by four up-and-coming fashion models in color print ads shot around New York City by Mark Seliger. “It was a great run we had,” says St. John’s chief executive officer Glenn McMahon of the decision. “Three years is a long time to maintain any campaign, and we felt it was time to do something new and different.” Tell us: What do you think about St. John choice to replace Angelina?

Angelina Jolie turned heads at this year’s SAG awards with her billowy vintage Hermes gown from N.Y.C’s Rare Vintage. Makeup artist Mary Burton played up the ’60s/’70s vintage feel of the dress by keeping the makeup natural. Since Angelia doesn’t like too much color on her face, Burton used Chanel’s Pro Lumiere foundation, $52 — mixing several shades to match her skin. She applied Laura Mercier powder blush, $22, as an orange-y tint for her cheekbones. For her eyes, Burton used Shiseido’s Hydro-Powder Eye Shadow, $25, for a light, creamy color on her lid and under her eyebrow. She lined her lid with a liquid eyeliner from Lancome, $28. Burton used two mascaras from Lancome — one to lengthen, $24, and one to volumize, $24. The lips were kept neutral using Cargo’s beige high-definition lipgloss compact, $29.

It was Angelina’s aura that inspired hairstylist David Babaii to create the loose ‘do. Using his own beach spray, Babaii was able to achieve instant volume and texture. He created eight barrel curls by sectioning the hair into four with a big curling iron and sprayed a little beach spray on the roots without any blow drying. The curls were clipped and then he teased the roots a bit. Once dried, he took it out and it was done. “I was just like, shake it out, let’s go,” says Babaii. Taking a break from the custom couture and jewels that she wore to great effect in Cannes, Angelina Jolie turned up at last night’s N.Y.C. premiere of A Mighty Heart in a $26 dress. Yup, you read that right. The actress told “Access Hollywood” that her black crushed velvet dress was from the vintage store Wasteland on trendy Melrose Avenue in L.A. Wow, talk about a bargain! But she did add a dash of designer bling with her crystal-encrusted Christian Louboutin for Loris Azzaro heels and Frances Klein diamonds — and the ultimate accessory of a Tom Ford-clad Brad Pitt by her side.

We’re accustomed to seeing Angelina Jolie in her usual neutral palette of grays, beiges and blacks, so when she stepped out in a stunning yellow gown for the Ocean’s 13 premiere in Cannes, we just had to know more. Turns out that she started working on it with Emanuel Ungaro’s chief designer Peter Dundas “a little more than a month ago,” an insider tells PEOPLE. Dundas sent her a batch of sketches from which she chose the gown and the color. So no luck for the rest of us in getting one, since “the dress was made especially for her — it’s unique.” But the custom design didn’t end with the gown — Chopard created ten carat yellow diamond earrings and a 20 carat yellow diamond cocktail ring just for her appearance on the red carpet. At least to our impressed eyes, it’s effort well spent!

If there is ever a moment for over-the-top glamour, it’s the Cannes Film Festival — so leave it to an understated Angelina Jolie to blow everyone out of the water. At the photocall for her new film Mighty Heart, she paired a belted satin Elie Tahari top with a simple black pencil skirt, peep-toe pumps and soft ringlets. At night for the film’s official Cannes premiere, Angelina turned up the drama in a vintage black lace Balmain sheath from Decades, set off by sexy peep-toe pumps and Francis Klein jewels. Just goes to show that less really can be more. . .
