Amanda Seyfried’s Hair Advice: ‘Don’t Wash It!’

Nearly a year after being named the face of Clé de Peau Beauté, Amanda Seyfried is still singing the Japanese beauty brand’s praises.

“I’m really scared of the sun,” the fair-skinned star, who adheres to a strict skincare routine, tells Stylelist. “During the day, I use the Gentle Protective Emulsion moisturizer with SPF,” she details. “And I don’t go to bed without putting on La Crème. It smells really good and when I wake up, I know my face is going to feel really good.”

To juxtapose her alabaster complexion, Seyfried relies on the brand’s darker lipsticks and eye-opening mascaras. “Clé de Peau’s Mascara keeps my eyelashes curled even though they’re really straight,” she gushes.

But the secret to her doll-like look lies in the perfectly tousled hair, of course. “Don’t wash it!,” she recommends. “I wash my hair every three days which is something I would’ve never imagined years ago, but I also use dry shampoo and my hair is even healthier.”

Jessica Simpson: I’ve Learned from My Style Mistakes

Jessica Simpson may be one of the pros on NBC’s upcoming show Fashion Star, but she admits her own style choices haven’t always been the best.

“There are a lot of things I’ve worn and look back on and think, ‘Oh, my,’” the mom-to-be recently told PEOPLE. “When it comes to beauty, I think a big misconception is the tanner you are, the more beautiful you are. It’s not always true. I look back on a lot of pictures where I’m really tan, and I’m like, ‘Whoa!’”

But Simpson has only learned from her mistakes — and they’ve inspired her to strive to keep her Jessica Simpson line of shoes and apparel impeccable.

“I’m in all those meetings,” she said. “I know the zipper pulls, I know what you’re going to be purchasing next spring. I know what’s going to be trending. It’s really fun to take all those meetings and try and play great guessing games of what the public’s going to buy.”

Audrina Patridge Shares Her Skin Savvy

Audrina Patridge Skincare AdviceKristian Dowling/PictureGroup

Audrina Patridge is just 26 years old, but according to the Hills alum, it’s never too soon to start protecting skin from signs of aging.

“A lot of people turn to getting surgery, but if you prevent [skin damage] before it gets to that point, you won’t have to do it,” she told PEOPLE Tuesday. “So I wear sunblock, I moisturize, and I wash [my face] on a daily and nightly basis.”

Patridge, the face of Bremenn Research Labs Miracle Cream, has also learned to keep a religious consistency to her daily routine. “People use [different products] and expect to see something overnight, but it’s all about being consistent and using it for a week or two because it has to get into your skin and start working,” she said.

The California native, who spent her summer at the beach, playing volleyball, riding bikes and visiting her family’s lake house, is also aware of the threat her outdoor hobbies could pose to her skin.

Spray Tans, Fedoras and Sunscreen: Laura Linney’s Summer Skin Safety Tips

Laura Linney Summer Skincare

Fair-skinned Laura Linney is no stranger to sunburns, sunscreen … or skin cancer. Growing up with a mother who worked at New York’s Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, the actress has always “been very aware of cancer and how fierce a disease it is.” And now that she’s playing a character fighting stage four melanoma on Showtime’s The Big C, Linney is working to spread the word about skin protection and cancer prevention. Speaking to PEOPLE at Cosmopolitan‘s Safe Sun Awards in Manhattan on Wednesday, where she was honored for her efforts to battle melanoma, she said, “Any attention that I can help raise, I am happy to do.” Her number one piece of advice? “Sunscreen, sunscreen, sunscreen,” she emphasized. “There are now so many different kinds of sunscreen. There are lotions, there are sprays, there are powders. There’s something for everybody out there.” But protecting your skin can come with its fashion perks, too. “I wear a lot of scarves because I get very burned,” she said, adding, “I love hats. I do the big crazy, southern-lady gardening hat, I do the baseball cap; I love fedoras.” If you do crave that golden glow, “Roxanne Rizzo has a spray tan that’s very, very good,” Linney shared. But staying sun-safe doesn’t mean you can’t hit the beach or spend an afternoon outside. “Everything in moderation,” she said. “It just means you have to grow up and be a little responsible about it.” –Hannah Kay Hunt

We’ve really admired Emma Roberts’s dress code this year. She dazzled during the wintry awards season and looked well suited for spring while promoting Scream 4. But now that summer is in full swing, what’s the Art of Getting By star wearing? Speaking to PEOPLE at a showing of the Salvatore Ferragamo women’s resort 2012 collection in New York on Tuesday, she dished on what she’s loving this season. “I’ve been trying to do a lot of color this summer,” she revealed. “I just bought a bright blue dress from Topshop yesterday that I’m going to wear; I’m into bright colors.” And she’s not picky about the cut, either. “Shorts, dresses, rompers, I like it all,” she shared. Well, except for one particular item. “I’m trying not to wear jeans this summer, which it’s been so hot, I can’t anyways.” As for her summer beauty routine, Roberts is remaining vigilant about protecting herself from the sun. “I usually use Neutrogena sunscreen every day just because when I don’t put it on I get burned in five seconds,” she shared. “So I just always make sure to wear sunscreen every day.” –Karen Sevilla

Beat the Heat with Jessica Alba’s Summer Beauty Essentials

When the weather gets hot, mommy-to-be Jessica Alba tackles the heat with the ammo in her makeup bag. She always keeps five essentials on her — tinted moisturizer, concealer, illuminator, mascara and lip gloss — and relies on simple steps in her beauty routine to keep her skin glowing. “My mother always told me to wash my face every night, wear sunscreen during the day and drink plenty of water,” she tells StyleList.com. “It’s simple but I like to think that it’s work for me.” Another trick that works? Using lipstick — but not just on the lips! “Before there was cream blush, my grandmother would apply lipstick on her lips, cheeks and eyes,” the Revlon brand ambassador shares. “I still do that today.” And when she’s not moisturizing with her favorite skin-hydrating products — La Mer and Jurlique to name a few — she’s protecting her skin from harmful rays with her daughter’s sunblock. “I like sunscreen that’s not too heavy so I use my daughter’s California Baby,” she reveals. Rumor Patrol: Gisele Bundchen Never Called Sunscreen ‘Poison’

Gisele Sunscreen Denial
INF

Gisele Bündchen is firing back at published reports that quoted her as saying she refuses to wear sunscreen. While promoting her skincare line Sejaa in her native Brazil, the supermodel reportedly claimed of SPF products: “I cannot put this poison on my skin. I do not use anything synthetic.” Reports went on to quote her as saying that her alternative is simply avoiding going out at times in the day when the sun is strongest–advice that cancer experts quickly shot down as ineffective. But a rep for Bündchen says that a misunderstanding is to blame. “They misquoted her due to a language barrier,” the rep tells PEOPLE. “Gisele would never say not to use sunscreen because she has family members who have had skin cancer.” So what did Gisele intend to express? “She simply stated that her all natural skincare line does not include an SPF product,” the rep continued. “She followed that line of questions saying she tried to stay out of the sun when it is the strongest between 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.” And yes, Gisele does use sunscreen–just not harsh formulations. “When using sunscreens she selects ones that are free of parabens, oxybenzone, PABA, and retinyl palmitate,” says the rep. “She buys her sunscreen at Whole Foods, so she can find ones that are free of harsh chemicals. She says, ‘Of course I put on sun block. I don’t want to look like a shrimp!’”–Charlotte Triggs
