She’s sampled chili, pancakes and a whole lot of steak on this season’s Top Chef, but Padma Lakshmi is miraculously avoiding weight gain and breakouts. How? By boxing. “A poet introduced me to it,” she tells PEOPLE of the sport, which she’s practiced for 10 years. “I just found it was a great workout, very gratifying.”

Lakshmi — who hits the gym two to three times per week with a trainer, and uses the speed bag, jumps rope and does calisthenics — credits boxing with her trim figure, as well as her glowing skin. “I think that sweating a lot and getting your circulation going influences your skin a lot, and helps everything rejuvenate itself,” she shares. (Regular facials, some Shiseido foaming face wash and a light moisturizer help, too.)

The former model showcases that skin — and her best boxing form — in Danskin’s “Move for Change” campaign, which also features Hilary Duff, Jenny McCarthy and Christie Brinkley. “The photo shoot was great,” she says. “It turned out to be a fun day.”

Lakshmi’s involvement with Danskin benefits her charity of choice as well; the company makes regular donations to the Endometriosis Foundation of America, a cause close to her heart. And that symbiotic relationship makes the star even happier. As she says, “It was a really great opportunity to partner with a brand that I’ve always loved, while raising awareness about my foundation at the same time.”

While rising to fame in her 20s, model Paulina Porizkova didn’t think much about caring for her skin. “I was a nightmare,” she tells PEOPLE. “I’m a product whore, so anything you gave me, I experimented with. I drank, I smoked, I’d tumble into bed with a full face of makeup on and go to work and say, ‘Look, I’m already done up.’ Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn’t.”

But her recklessness caught up with her eventually. “When I saw the first signs of aging I was like, ‘Ahh,’” the 46-year-old recalls. “I pulled out every bottle there was. Two hundred bucks? Sure! Three hundred bucks? Sure. Disappointingly, none of them did much.”

Luckily, Porizkova eventually developed a streamlined routine thanks to Avon’s Anew Genics. “I use that and a clarisonic brush, and it really works,” she says of the cream, which she’s a spokeswoman for. “That’s it. It’s made my skin more even and glowy — it makes your skin look like right after you exercise, when you’re all flushed and really pretty.”

In addition to Anew, Porizkova is sure to protect her skin with SPF. “Every day,” she insists, recalling the time she first learned about sunscreen. “I went to a party for Estée Lauder … they had some scientists there, and I said, ‘What’s the good stuff? What’s the stuff I really need to use?’”

Hoping to hear about the latest miracle cream, Porizkova was shocked by the answer. “Both of them looked at me and said, ‘Use SPF,’” she recalls. “And I’ve used it every day since. I feel like a vampire if I go out without it.” Tell us: What products do you use to keep your skin healthy?

On Glee, Naya Rivera plays fresh-faced cheerleader beauty Santana Lopez — but away from the cameras, the actress admits it has taken a lot to achieve her picture-perfect look.

“I had really bad skin for awhile earlier this year,” Rivera said Tuesday on the set of her Proactiv shoot, where she revealed to PEOPLE exclusively that she is the brand’s new spokesperson. “It sort of just came out of nowhere. It was like adult acne, and I was like, I’ve had great skin my entire life. How am I dealing with this now at 24?”

The actress says once her problem surfaced, filming FOX’s hit show became less comfortable.

“It was pretty embarrassing going to work every day and having to be on camera and having the makeup artists be like, ‘Oh, what’s going on?’” she explains. “[My Glee costars] were really supportive. I would always go around and talk about it. It was a point of insecurity for me. But I’m glad I got it fixed, I’ll say that.”

Although the L.A. native says she has “scarring issues” from her breakouts, she’s at least been able to stop the problem from getting worse, thanks to the help of the line she now endorses.

“I used Proactiv and it really did work for me,” she says with a big smile. “It helped me out, so I got in contact with the company and told them I would love to share my story. So I showed them photos and they said, ‘This is great.’ Wait till people see my pictures. That’s all I have to say. I definitely have the photos to prove [I had a problem].”

It took “a couple of months” before she started seeing improvements, but now Rivera wants other girls battling with the same issue to know: “It’s a process, but it does get better.”

After refusing to wear makeup in We Bought a Zoo, Scarlett Johnasson reveals that when she’s not portraying a character, she’s actually quite fond of putting on a face.

“I always like to put a little bit of makeup on,” she tells Style.com. “I’m not the kind of person that just slops around in sweatpants. I like to feel a little more together — you never know who you’re going to see out there!”

“My absolute must-have is a really rich and vibrant red lipstick,” she reveals of the look that has become synonymous with her red-carpet bombshell motif. “I always keep red lipstick in my bag because I never know when I might show up to an event and be completely underdressed. I feel like red lipstick is the cure-all for everything.”

Other things that make her feel beautiful include reverting to her natural hair color (“I’m naturally blonde so I feel most like myself when I’m blonde”) and a good, old-fashioned honey facial. Yup, a honey facial. “I use Manuka honey,” she reveals. “You just warm your face so that your pores are open (you can steam your face right after getting out of the shower), and then you just take a spoon and apply the honey directly to your face and leave it for 10 to 15 minutes.”

The result? “It really adds an amazing glow and your skin is so soft afterwards. It pulls out the impurities.”

Winter brings a lot of fun, but it can also bring some serious skin problems. Harsh temperatures and whipping winds dry the skin, but walking into warm buildings can totally confuse it. “Skin has to fight for its life against infections and bugs that are common this time of year,” British skincare expert Julie Cichocki tells PEOPLE. “All this can make the skin dry and increase sensitivity.”

To combat those effects, many women slather on the moisturizer, but Cichocki warns against this. “That can result in blocking the pores, bombarding the skin, preventing it from breathing and consequently increase the problems,” she explains. “We like to keep it simple.”

Cichocki is one of Karin Herzog skincare’s pros, and has helped perfect the faces of Kate Middleton, Victoria Beckham, Kim Kardashian, Uma Thurman and a host of other stars. But instead of telling her clients to stock up on dozens of expensive products, she believes skincare routines should be streamlined and simple — though effective.

“Logic dictates you must replace what age, modern living and the environment strip out of the skin daily,” she shares. “Oxygen, pure water and active vitamins are key. It’s about giving back to the skin the energy and raw materials to look after itself.”

Cichocki is a proponent of Herzog’s Vita-A-Kombi 1, a daily-use, oxygen-packed cream designed to let the skin breathe and encourage circulation. “It makes the skin receptive to what else is applied,” she says. “Be that your favorite expensive cream or budget brand, all products work better on skin that is alive, energized and active and not tired.”

But if an $80 jar of cream is out of your price range, Cichocki insists on at least keeping your skin packed with the elements — oxygen, pure water and active vitamins — that keep it healthy. “Your skin will reward you by being balanced, hydrated, radiant, clear and anti-aged,” she shares.

So her biggest advice for the chilly months ahead? “Keep it simple and don’t over-complicate things,” she instructs. “It comes back to working with the skin and giving it what it needs. Jennifer Aniston thanks her Greek genes for her cool California glow, but the actress admits she’s starting to see a few negative effects from her years of sun worshiping.

“I’ve started getting those little sun spots,” she tells InStyle. “Things are beginning to pop out. Even the texture [of my skin] is changing. So I’ve recently started zapping the spots and getting spray tans whenever I can. And I’ve graduated to using SPF 60 sunblock when I’m on the beach.”

She quickly dispels any rumors of cosmetic enhancements, however. “People think that I do a lot of injections, but I don’t,” she states. “I’m not saying that I haven’t tried it … but I see how it’s a slippery slope.” Still, she plans to stay away for the time being. “All that cosmetic stuff looks ridiculous on me,” she shares.

Revealing that she tints her eyelashes every three weeks (“I hate wearing mascara,” she says) and that she used to keep scissors in her car’s glove compartment to trim split ends (“It was a weird tic,” she admits), the star says she wasn’t always confident about her looks.

“I was a dumpy teenager,” she shares. “My mom was a model and was all about looks, so I rebelled by going goth. It took me years of peeling back the onion to finally stop using makeup as a mask and feel comfortable in my skin.”

But these days, the “Sexiest Woman of All Time” takes comments on her looks in stride.

Julianne Hough always looks radiant on the red carpet, but the Footloose star insists that wasn’t always the case.

“When I started Dancing with the Stars, that’s when I started getting acne,” she told PEOPLE at her latest shoot for Proactiv in Los Angeles on Wednesday. “Makeup, lights and sweating definitely took a toll on my skin.”

After being introduced to Proactiv (the cleansing bar and refining masks are two of her staples), Hough’s skin finally cleared up. Her beauty routine now includes washing her face twice a day, “hydrating with water, getting enough rest and putting good food” in her body, she shared.

And now that the star is blemish free, she has more time to play with her looks.

“I love fashion, I love beauty, I love makeup, I love hair,” she said. “When I was on Dancing with the Stars, it was fun to experiment … I hadn’t been able to do that so much because I was afraid [of my look being] so different.”

So what’s been giving her an extra experimental push lately? Her recently chopped locks! “I took the bold move of cutting off my hair, so I might as well keep going on the bold move streak,” she said, laughing. “I can look different with each hairstyle that I do, so I almost feel like I’m playing a different character every time I get ready.”

But while we’ve seen her with every hair color ranging from red to brown, the former Dancing pro said she’ll forever be a blonde at heart.

“I’ll always have blonde hair when I’m not working,” she shared, adding. “I’m trying to get my hair healthy so I’m not coloring it right now.” And though she obviously enjoys playing with her look, it’s when she’s not thinking about it at all that she’s most content.

“I think the thing that’s most me, especially right now, is my hair up in a pony that’s rolled up into a messy bun,” she shared. “No makeup and just casual.”

Carrie Underwood is ready to lather up in her latest Olay commercial — but she’s skipping the soap and opting for cleanser. The singer — Wednesday night’s CMA Awards hostess — is breaking down beauty myths in her latest campaign for Olay, which debuts tonight during the CMA Awards on ABC.

“For my beauty prep, I like my skin to be really clean, but ‘squeaky clean’ isn’t the goal — that sound actually means your soap left residue behind on your skin,” she says in a release. “If you don’t have a healthy palette to work on, it won’t matter what you do. My skincare routine is … all about proper cleansing and sunscreen.”

In addition to pampering her skin, the singer tries to prevent damage to her hair, too. “I love a big-barrel curling iron,” she admits. “So to keep my hair healthy and manageable, I use a leave-in conditioner; without a spritz of it first, it would take me forever to get a brush through my hair.”

And to stand out on the red carpet, Underwood says adding shimmer eyeshadow to her look is a definite do. “A little goes a long way and helps really play up your eyes,” she shares. “I like to top it off with mascara. I never leave my house without it and feel naked without it on! One coat makes me look like I spent time on my makeup — even if I didn’t.”

We know how she got that rockin’ bikini body, but how does Gwyneth Paltrow maintain her outer glow?

“For me, sleep is a major thing,” she said Saturday during an appearance on Ask Dr. Brandt on Sirius XM Radio. “I don’t always get it, and when I don’t, I look like I’ve been hit by a truck.”

Other beauty secrets Paltrow lives by include drinking lots of water, taking vitamins “religiously” and having at least one cup of coffee — with almond milk — each morning. She follows that with a glass of homemade green juice, consisting of kale and her favorite farmer’s market goodies, and eats a lean protein with veggies for lunch. But she allows herself to cheat once in a while.
“Dinner is where I really go off the rails,” she admitted, saying that when she eats out she indulges in French fries and red wine. But at home, she cooks healthfully for her family, and tries to avoid gluten and dairy.

Another way the mom of two stays on top of her health? By detoxing twice per year. Paltrow said she’s a fan of the Clean Program, an elimination diet that lasts for three weeks and allows a daily lunch. “I find it very rejuvenating,” she said. “It’s like being high.” In between detoxes, she sometimes picks up a five-day juice fast, too.

To round out her wellness plan, Paltrow sticks to workouts with her trainer, Tracy Anderson. And with a near-nude scene coming up in her new film, Thanks for Sharing, the actress is feeling more confident than ever. “Now, I’m my own body double,” she boasted.
