After months of long, pointy talons, wacky nail art and glittery disco polish not safe for the office, stars are finally sporting a sassy nail polish trend we can actually try — and it’s got vintage appeal.

That’s right, the most popular nail look in Hollywood is a throwback to a simpler time, when we all wore scrunchies, craved a Barbie car and “borrowed” our moms’ bright red polish.

Obviously, red nails have never gone out of style, but it’s a specific shade of bright cherry lacquer that inspires the nostalgia trip to 1987. And we know it’s red-hot at the moment because it’s been spotted on stars as diverse as (from left) Zooey Deschanel, Emmy Rossum, Alicia Keys and Olivia Palermo. Though their style ranges from über-girlie to trendy to funky, all look equally chic in the bold hue.

The real winners at the SAG Awards? Celeb makeup artists, who apparently found their star clients willing to go bold with their beauty looks on Sunday night. We spotted lipstick in a range of shades from neutral to very vampy; when it came to manis, stars sported everything from classic ballet-pink tips to Pinterest-approved nail art. Here are the 12 ladies whose looks we plan to copy soon — plus the exact lip and polish color they picked.

Anne Hathaway: Makeup artist Kate Lee tells PEOPLE that the deep rose color she used on the best supporting actress winner (Chanel Rouge Coco Hydrating Creme Lip Colour in Taffeta Rose, to be specific) was essentially a more intense version of the star’s pout’s natural color. And while her makeup was subdued, Tom Bachik went funkier with her nails, using two coats of L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Nail in I Will! to serve as the base for the butterfly accents on her middle and ring fingers.
