MTV Movie Awards 2014 Style: Who Had Your Favorite Look?

Apr/14/2014 at 09:00 AM ET

The Golden Popcorns have been handed out, Zac Efron’s shirt has (sadly) safely been reattached and no one caught on fire despite the major pyrotechnics onstage at the MTV Movie Awards. All that’s left to do is discuss the style the stars brought to the show. From Rihanna‘s bathrobe-over-swimsuit boudoir-inspired look to Jessica Alba‘s cute crop top to Lupita Nyong’o’s crazy-colorful Chanel, styles ran the gamut from conservative (shockingly, Nicki Minaj) to crazy (shockingly, Victoria Justice). Check them all out here, and tell us who had your favorite look in the comments below! (PS: Don’t forget to check out our exclusive interview with Lupita Nyong’o’s makeup artist, Nick Barose, about her glam silver makeup from last night!)

Reason No. 342 we love Lupita Nyong’o: she’s not afraid to go bold with her makeup — like, cherry red lips with bright blue eye shadow bold. And for the MTV Movie Awards Sunday night, the new “ambassadress” for Lancôme showed off yet another noteworthy beauty look.

By now you’ve already seen all the gorgeous gowns from Sunday’s ACM Awards, so it’s time to talk about the most buzzworthy beauty moments. Let’s start with Carrie Underwood‘s amazing side-swept waves, because, well, they’re amazing.

We were so enamored of Underwood’s old Hollywood-inspired tresses, we had to get some more insight straight from her makeup artist and hair stylist of nine years, Melissa Schleicher. You may not have noticed, but the first step to her look was a subtle color change.

“Her hair is a bit darker now,” Schleicher explains. “She’s naturally blonde in the roots, and we hadn’t highlighted her hair in seven months — we just let it go. And then I took her to the salon, darkened her hair a shade and lightened the ends quite a bit for an ombré look.” Read More

The Latest Style Icon Is ... SpongeBob SquarePants?

Style inspiration can come from anywhere — a beautiful sunset, an interesting textile, an old movie. And (less frequently, we’d guess) it can come from a beloved children’s cartoon. This weekend, two separate music stars paid sartorial tribute to that crazy guy who lives in a pineapple under the sea, (sing it with us now) SpongeBob SquarePants.

Cher and Bob Mackie May Have Split, But We'll Always Have These Outfits

Mar/17/2014 at 04:08 PM ET

The news that Bob Mackie would not be designing clothing for Cher’s upcoming tour — after nearly 50 years of a memorable partnership — rocked our world Friday, and no one was more devastated about it than Cher herself. She went on a Twitter posting spree about it (sample Tweet: “Telling you Something That Has BROKEN MY HEART THE MAN WHO MADE ALL MY COSTUMES SINCE 1972 DECIDED HE COULDNT DO MY LAST TOUR”). While Mackie cited time restrictions as the reason why he couldn’t costume her latest “farewell tour,” we have to wonder if it’s possible that he just ran out of outrageous ideas for the star to wear. After all, since the beginning of their partnership, he has come up with some pretty memorable looks.

Kristen Bell: I Peed in a Jar While Wearing My Oscars Dress

When Jennifer Aniston told us last year that she picked her Oscars gown because it was “easy to pee in,” we thought she was being funny. Little did we know that being trapped in your Oscars dress, unable to properly use a toilet, is a real epidemic — but Kristen Bell set us straight on that account.

While discussing her corseted, mermaid-hem Roberto Cavalli gown on Live With Kelly and Michael, co-host Michael Strahan asked if the dress was comfortable to sit in. “Nope. And I didn’t realize that until I got into it,” she told him. “There was a situation … there was a Mason jar involved.” When the audience giggled, she laughed and said, “Like you guys haven’t peed into a Mason jar before in a huge ball gown!”

And while she did have fun on the big night, she also was more excited than most to see Ellen DeGeneres bring out those pizzas after hours of being unable to eat. “This was my first time going … You have a hair and a makeup person, [so] by the time you get into the dress you realize that you’ve been sitting there for like three hours,” she said. “And then there’s always traffic, so that’s almost four hours. Then you get there and that’s why everyone in the audience looks emaciated, because everyone’s hungry!” Next year, look for Bell to be bringing a Lunchables and a Mason jar in a large shoulder bag.

Can you believe Bell’s confession? Does a girl have to do what a girl has to do or is this never okay with you? Tell us in the comments!
