Back in December, Rachel Zoe was unusually tightlipped about expanding her fashion empire.

But now that she is unveiling a costume jewelry range ($195-$695, to be sold exclusively at Bergdorf Goodman and Neiman Marcus) and cold weather accessories, she can’t help but gush about the new endeavors.

“I’m a hand-talker, so that’s what this is about,” she tells WWD of an Art Deco-inspired collection of rings, cuffs and necklaces adorned with tassels and knotted accents.

The higher price point reflects a conscious expansion for Zoe, who previously found remarkable success in affordable fashion. “I’m someone who looks at my brand holistically,” she explains. “I go to style my show and I’m like, ‘I want hats. I want gloves. I want all these things. Okay, wait, I’m a designer now, so let’s do it,’” she says of the second category, which will offer cashmere-lined scarves, leather gloves and some faux, some real, fur pieces ($95-$1,500).

And though The Rachel Zoe Project has yet to be renewed for a fifth season, the stylist remains unflapped: “It’s been four seasons, it’s in 20 countries. Businessmen watch it, bankers, I get a lot of hits from a lot of different demos. So do I need it? I don’t know. After four years, maybe there’s something to be said for starting something new.”

They’ve lent their keen eye to designing jewelry, but Kate Bosworth and stylist pal Cher Coulter are teaming up for a new endeavor.

The New York Times reports that the duo is working on a “denim collaboration,” which makes perfect sense for the actress, who was named PEOPLE’s 2011 “Jean Queen.”

“Kate loves denim because it’s easy and casual,” Coulter told PEOPLE in October. “She always wears denim to remain comfy while running around town. On the flip side, she also loves to dress up denim by pairing it with a silky button-up and a necklace slung just under the shirt collar.”

Ivanka Trump has been icing the wrists and ears of Hollywood stars with her namesake jewelry line for years now, but there’s one celebrity fan in particular that she’s extra proud to name drop these days.

Speaking to InStyle last week before accepting a Good Award from the Diamond Empowerment Fund, Trump discussed the “Oval Os” she was wearing — 18-karat white-gold earrings that feature 11.56 carats of diamonds. “I now call them my Oprah Os because she loves them,” the new mom revealed.

Continuing to expand the Kardashian style empire, Kylie and Kendall Jenner are joining big sis Kim in designing a line of jewelry with Pascal Mouawad.

The yet-to-be-named jewelry line will be a part of Mouawad’s “Glamhouse” jewelry collection, which also runs Nicole Richie‘s House of Harlow 1960 brand. The Jenners’s collection will be aimed at girls 12-19 and run between $20 and $60.

Choosing the two teenage models was a no-brainer for Mouawad: “Millions of teenagers look to Kendall and Kylie for style advice,” he says, “so they were truly a perfect fit for the company and I’m thrilled to partner with them.” The Jenners add in a statement, “We love accessories, and it’s amazing that we’re going to have our own line to be able to wear everyday — and for our friends to wear, too!”

If diamonds are a girl’s best friend, perhaps Vanessa Bryant will find solace in hers as she works through her divorce from husband Kobe Bryant. The mom of two filed for divorce in Los Angeles on Friday — though the fate of her $4 million diamond sparkler, a gift from her soon-to-be ex, is to be determined.

Kobe purchased the ring for Vanessa in July of 2003, three days after prosecutors declared he’d be charged with the rape of a 19-year-old employee at a Colorado resort where he’d stayed. Dubbed the “apology ring” — though PEOPLE reported that the basketball star had commissioned the bauble two weeks before charges were announced — it’s an 8-carat purple diamond set in a glimmering band.

The week before presenting his wife with the diamond, Kobe faced reporters during a press conference at the Staples Center in L.A. and admitted to cheating on his wife. “You’re my backbone,” he told Vanessa apologetically as she looked on solemnly. “You’re a blessing. You’re a piece of my heart. You’re the air I breathe. And you’re the strongest person I know, and I’m so sorry for having to put you through this and having to put our family through this.”

Her jewelry auction shattered records with nearly $116 million in sales, but who actually came to Christie’s New York and purchased the pricey gems Elizabeth Taylor once owned?

Taylor admirer Kim Kardashian scored three Lorraine Schwartz bangles, shelling out $64,900 for the jade bracelets. “It’s not just a piece of jewelry,” she told InStyle.com. “She wore them constantly during the final years of her life and I believe they carry her spirit.”

Coincidentally, Schwartz herself scooped up a diamond fringe bracelet Taylor purchased from her nearly 10 years ago. “I was wearing it for her [70th birthday] party at the Bel-Air Hotel,” Schwartz recalled on her Facebook page, “and she kept calling me over to look at it and to try it on.” The next morning, the jeweler got a call from the movie star, who said, “I know who’s buying that bracelet for my birthday … I’m buying it!”

Schwartz also won a pair of earrings Taylor’s third husband, Michael Todd, created just for her. “The earrings were once made from paste, but she loved them so much that Michael Todd surprised her and made them real,” Schwartz wrote. “During the auction I could feel her saying to me, ‘Buy them, they’re my favorite.’ I feel like I have a part of her with me forever.”

Some of Taylor’s larger baubles ended up selling to companies. The 33.19-carat Krupp Diamond (above), a gift from Richard Burton, reportedly went for $8.8 million to Daniel Pang, a representative of Korean hotel conglomerate E-Land, which plans to display the treasure at its E-World theme park in Daegu, according to the AFP. The heart-shaped Taj Mahal diamond went to a private buyer for $8.8 million, as well. And according to the New York Post, Bulgari anonymously bought back a staggering $20 million worth of jewels, including a 52.72-carat sapphire-and-diamond sautoir for $5.9 million and an emerald-and-diamond necklace for $6.1 million.

The auction drew quite the stylish crowd, too; Michael Kors, Nina Garcia and Jennifer Tilly were spotted at Christie’s Tuesday evening, and Sofia Coppola, Anna Sui and Jill Zarin perused the Haute Couture sales on Wednesday and Thursday.

Following Wednesday’s couture sale, supermodel Coco Rocha walked away with Taylor’s yellow-and-pink 1980s Givenchy jumpsuit. “I was amazed that I actually won,” she told Style.com on the way out. “Everyone has been asking what I am going to do with it — I am going to wear it. Right now, I’m thinking next year’s Costume Institute Ball would be perfect.”

LOOK BACK AT ELIZABETH TAYLOR’S FABULOUS FASHION AND JEWELS

She already received some major bling this year — namely that gorgeous diamond engagement ring — but Hillary Scott was surprised with a little extra sparkle before the CMT Artists of the Year special in Nashville on Nov. 29.

The Lady Antebellum singer — plus fellow honorees Taylor Swift, Brad Paisley, Kenny Chesney, Jason Aldean and bandmates Dave Haywood and Charles Kelley — received a one-of-a-kind gem from jewelry designer David Yurman in honor of her country music accomplishments.

Scott and Swift were gifted with “Spiritual Bead” bracelets in yellow diamond pave, each featuring charms engraved with their initials. (Scott reportedly loved hers so much she put it on and wore it during the taping.) The men received more masculine tokens, including custom belt buckles, chain necklaces and dog tags, to accompany their CMT statuettes. Host Rob Lowe and chef Stephanie Izard — who cooked the pre-show dinner — were given David Yurman pieces to commemorate the occasion, as well.

So it’s not rocket science, but it is an important element of style: what kinds of earrings should you wear with what hairstyles? STUDY UP ON STAR-TESTED BEAUTY TIPS

She may be busy settling into married life and promoting the next Twilight film, Breaking Dawn Part I, but Nikki Reed has her mind on some fashionable future plans, too.

“At some point I’d like to have a jewelry line,” she reveals in the December issue of SELF. “I have a very sort of eclectic style, so I guess I’ve picked up things from all over the world, but the last place that I lived was Greece so I became very into the evil eye. I’m influenced by Greek culture for sure.”

Though Reed’s personal style is eclectic, her Twilight character, Rosalie Hale, steers toward the modern side. “The Cullen family … they don’t want to stand out as much as they already do with their crazy eyes and pale skin,” she explains. “So I think that was a common theme when shooting, like, ‘How can we make them blend in the most?’ So we wore the hippest, most modern clothes.”

While Reed and costars Ashley Greene and Elizabeth Reaser often tried to pull items from the ’20s and ’30s, stylists would steer them back toward contemporary looks. “It did make us stick out too much,” she admits of vintage clothes.

One instance where she’s meant to stand out? The much-hyped wedding scene, of course. “They were very glamorous,” she says of the stars’ dresses, hers included. But since the conditions for shooting that scene were less than ideal, the actress had to come up with a clever way of keeping her dress clean.

“It was ice, rainy, cold, freezing, we were shooting in the night and it would get muddy,” she recalls. “I just remember we developed this technique where we’d take a hair clip and clip the bottom of the huge train. That was my look the whole night — a huge plastic sparkly hair clip with this elegant dress.”

Creating handbags seemed like a logical step for jewelry designer Matthew Campbell Laurenza, whose MCL accessories have been seen on Julianne Hough, Kristin Cavallari and Carrie Underwood. So when the opportunity arose, Laurenza made two collections for spring — “Gold Crest” and “Purple Crest” — available starting Friday exclusively on Gilt.com.

“I consider bags to be a very important staple in a well-dressed woman’s wardrobe, and believe that they should be precious whether literally or figuratively,” Laurenza tells PEOPLE. “Since I had the means to literally make them precious, I chose to.”

With her penchant for oversize sunglasses, sky-high heels and on-trend baubles, it’s understandable that the Accessories Council Excellence Awards named Nicole Richie its 2011 ‘Influencer of the Year.’

Less expected is the House of Harlow designer’s laid-back attitude toward personal style: “It’s not that deep for me,” she confesses to WWD. “It’s whatever I feel comfortable in at that time.”

A seasoned businesswoman, Richie’s first concern is the consumer. “To me, success isn’t measured by dollar signs,” she explains. “It’s really about paying attention to feedback and talking to my customer.”

And with an empire that includes jewelry, footwear, sunglasses and handbags, Richie refuses to expand for expansion’s sake. “With everything I do, I want to make sure that I take the time and make each category the best that it can be,” she continues. “I tend to move very slowly and I do that on purpose so that I can make sure that everything that I design really is the best version of what it is.”

But has the influencer always had a handle on personal style? “When I was a little girl, my mom used to always get us matching dresses for everything—so I was wearing the poufy skirt version of whatever my mom was wearing,” she laughs before adding, “I had the worst, hairiest eyebrows and a big afro.”

White diamonds may be a girl’s best friend, but Camila Alves confesses her favorite stone happens to be brown.

The unusual gem tops “a ring from my man,” the best gift Alves told PEOPLE she’s ever received. (That man, of course, is Matthew McConaughey.) The Pomellato bauble, which she wore to a Lincoln Lawyer premiere in March, has “a rough brown diamond in it. It’s very unique,” she shared.

McConaughey doesn’t get his longtime partner jewelry too often. “It’s not a ‘thing’ that we do,” she told PEOPLE at the Brazilian Style book launch in New York on Tuesday. “So when he does, it’s special.

“I don’t spend a lot of money on things, but I love jewelry,” she added. “So people that know me know it’s the right thing to give me.”

The model-turned-designer attended the event at the Swarovski Crystallized Concept store to support her fellow Brazilians. “It’s very, very exciting to see people from my country doing collaborations like this, like what I’m doing.”

Radiant in a red draped jersey dress by Gomez-Gracia, Alves described what distinguishes Brazilian design. “It’s got a different flavor to it. We’re definitely a very unique, soulful, sensual people. We’re not really afraid to dare.”

She applies that philosophy to her Muxo handbag line, which she says might be expanding into accessories and shoes in the future. The latest collection comes out in a few weeks, Alves said.

But when and if she does create her own jewelry, Alves will definitely be looking to her personal favorites. “I love gold, but I also love diamonds,” she said. “What girl doesn’t like sparkle?”

VOTE ON STARS’ HOTTEST LOOKS IN ‘HIT OR MISS?’

She must be on Santa’s good list! Victoria’s Secret model Miranda Kerr has been chosen by the brand to model the iconic Fantasy Treasure Bra — a $2.5 million diamond-studded piece — in the Christmas Dreams & Fantasies catalogue and during the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in November.

“It’s such an honor to wear the bra,” Kerr tells PEOPLE. “And it’s such a piece of artwork! It’s absolutely stunning — it kind of feels a little mermaid-like — but I can’t believe I’m wearing $2.5 million on my chest.”

The aqua push-up brassiere, created in part by Long Island’s London Jewelers, is handset with nearly 3,400 precious gems, including 142 carats of white and yellow diamonds, pearls, faceted citrines and aquamarines, all set in 18-karat white and yellow gold. “We put a lot of love into this bra,” jeweler Candy Udell tells PEOPLE. Adds daughter Randi, “We put a lot of our most favorite elements into it, such as the tassel — it’ll be wonderful with her walking down the runway, the tassel swinging with her body. We thought about the runway show, and what would catch everyone’s attention.”

The runway show will be a very special moment for Kerr: aside from wearing the Fantasy Treasure Bra, she’ll be returning to the Victoria’s Secret catwalk after taking a one-year hiatus while she was pregnant with son Flynn. “It’s very special,” she says of rejoining the show. “And now I feel better than ever. I feel healthier than I’ve ever felt. It was wonderful to have a bit of time off after I was pregnant and having Flynn. But now I’m back in the swing of things and it feels good.”

In fact, you could say it feels really good. “I feel like more than $1 million,” she jokes. “I feel like $2.5 million.”
