Gabrielle Union's Wedding Dress Photos Are Here: See Both Beautiful Gowns!

09/01/2014 at 12:11 PM ET

From the sketch, we had a feeling Gabrielle Union’s first wedding dress would be stunning — and we couldn’t wait to see the second one. Now the star has given us a glimpse at both, and they certainly don’t disappoint.

Union, 41, first shared a look at the crystal-and-pearl-embellished strapless, backless gown Dennis Basso designed for her big entrance (above right). “Literally, she looks like a living doll — her waist is extraordinarily tiny in this gown!” he told PEOPLE of the dress (for which he shared a sketch). “Gabrielle was all about creating a fashion moment.” For her part, Union captioned the photo of herself in the sparkling creation, “Thank you thank you thank you @DennisBasso for helping me design THE most perfect gowns for the most special night of my life… So grateful… So happy 💞”

But because she was marrying a “groomzilla” — fashion plate and basketball star Dwyane Wade — we had a feeling one dress wouldn’t be enough for the festivities. And we were right. Basso had given a glimpse at Gown No. 2 on his own Instagram, but Union shared the full look on her own (as well as a shot of her handsome groom and his equally well-dressed sons and nephew). “#thewadeunion” she wrote on the photo (the night’s official hashtag). The bodice had a similar shape to her first dress, but was ruched instead of beaded, and her second gown had a full skirt instead of a slim, high-slit skirt.

Wade, 32, topped his bride’s wardrobe change record, wearing three very distinctive looks for their big day, he told the New York Times. Dean and Dan Caten created three DSquared2 looks for Wade: the double-breasted shawl-collar tux he wore to the ceremony, the black-and-white jacquard one-button dinner jacket her wore with a gold bow tie to the reception, and the “white poplin boxer shorts to the knee, a black-on-black camouflage silk lamé jacket, small collar shirt, narrow tie and black gladiator trainers with a silver shield on the tongue” he wore to the afterparty.

Guests at the wedding also had a dress code: The women wore white, while the men wore black tuxes and The Tie Bar bowties chosen for them by the groom (who also wore its ties throughout his big day — appropriate, as he has his own line with the brand).

What do you think about Union’s two gowns? How badly do you want to see Wade’s afterparty outfit? Tell us in the comments.

Somebody’s missing…Where’s the new baby?

amy on

A strapless dress..with a plunging neckline..imagine that.

slawson on

She looks absolutely beautiful and his sons very handsome. I hope and pray they will be happy and stay together. Growing old together is a beautiful thing.

ImALadyToo on

Is there more than one dress there?! And I agree….strapless dress with a plunging neckline…..not exactly original, but it’s her wedding.

amyinoaktown on

Beautiful family! Congrats.

Tammy on

I would never go with strapless. Wedding gowns are so heavy. I can’t imagine it staying in place. I feel like a woman would be tugging it up all the time. And I’m sorry, I don’t care how rich you are. I think two wedding dresses is a stupid idea.

Jenny on

Where’s the picture of the second dress?

Gg on

I like the first one better. Where is his new baby?? Dude has a lot of baggage. I wouldn’t want him. She seems desperate for taking him back.

cruella on

Wait. Her hair is different in every pic. So confused if some of these are actual wedding shots. Either way, the dresses look basic.

ceecee on

Not that it matters but I like the second dress better. This one plunges just a little too much. It’s pretty basic but she does look lovely and I love the family photo. Best wishes to them.

There is something so odd about requiring guests to dress in such a specific way. Seems like at that point it’s more about what the pictures will look like than the emotion and love of the wedding.

Zeze on

She sure does have her priorities straight, focusing on what her guests wear instead of her husband’s baggage.

Charli on

The boys are so handsome. Was his youngest son present?

Joy on

The on a break baby wasn’t in the family pic! LOL

Bhavana on

I like the picture of all of them together, but not the one of her alone. Her hair is a hot mess in the one of her by herself and it would have looked better if she smiled.

fanofboardwalkempire on

I only see one dress! Please show us the second one- thanks!

Lacey on

I think she was a beautiful, classic bride. Everyone makes mistakes & I’m happy that they could work through their past together. Best wishes!

Seems to be more about the. Dress than exchanging vows. To go into this knowing he is a cheater, good luck to you.

Agree with the other posts about this seeming to be more about the dresses and guests clothing and his tuxes and ties. Talk about priorities. These people exuded the shallowness which I had hoped they would not. Having money is one thing, class is another….

Liz on

I think they all look lovely. But I think it’s funny that being so particular about some things made them blind to the fact that in the photo of them all – it looks like the ceiling fan is coming out of his head! Or he’s wearing some kind of fan-hat. How could “groomzilla” miss this?

Lila on

Such beautiful family pictures!

Gina on

The dress is gorgeous!

Mnmama on

Such a waste of money. Just because you’re fortunate to have money doesn’t mean you should spend it in such a gaudy, trashy “look at me–I’m somebody” way.

Gottosaysomething on

That’s so many children at age “32” and I’m sure many more will be coming!💔

I am bty no means a hater and hope that She finds happiness, but I find her pathetic. I understand wanting to be married, but let’s evaluate this – on a “break”, he could not let their romance cool before he got with another woman, without protection – eww – and produced a baby. She takes him back and marries him? I wonder how long it will bwe before she is the next “ex’. As much as she would like to think so, she is not special and she will not change him.

Marie Mullin on

Neither one looked that great.

Marie Mullin on

Desperate lady, good luck u will need it.

Sara on

Dress actually looks better than the sketch. It’s beautiful but she is beautiful. I hope he behaves himself and doesn’t ruin it. He has a good thing, don’t mess it up.

Florise Chow on

It’s amazing the amount of hate and venom people spew in the blogs. Is your own life so miserable that you hate people you don’t know for no reaon? She chose to follow her heart instead of public opinion. I wish them a long happy life together. Instead of hating, wish them well and hope for the best. Makes you less bitter and hateful.

susan on

so profligate, and for nothing. Why not a really simple ceremony with hand-me-downs? Does it really matter? I think of Chris Evert’s lavish ($1 million) wedding to Greg Norman; and how soon after were they divorced, and even if they’d stayed married forever, why such extravagance? Two dresses that look so similar? This is the example you’re setting for the kids? Clothes are important? meh. I think Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes had a really expensive wedding too. Ossie Davis and Ruby Dee didn’t …

and yes, propeller hat, Dywyaneaey or whatever the spelling is … propeller hat.

Simple, intimate weddings without dress codes. better.

susan on

we all want to look literally like “living dolls,” eh? or living Tickle Me Elmo or Teddy Ruxpin or Cabbage Patch doll or…oh wait, he means Barbie? Yeah, that’s the ticket

Shiela Kerr on

I wish them both well! She took him back after the birth of his last child and really must love him! I hope he is deserving!

Mely on

So much haters! Gabbie you look beautiful no matter what.

jasdlfjs on

Underwhelming….I am surprised. I have to say, I expected more. She is a very beautiful woman but it almost looks like she woke up, threw a dress on and said “Let’s do this”… There is nothing special about this look compared to her everyday look.

Kestrel on

She is beautiful in anything!
To think that I only had one dress, none of my kids as attendants and only dated-looking 24 year old wedding photos now! It seems like an entirely outdated concept these days.
I hope they stay married so long that they have dated wedding photos, too! :)

Sherry on

I can’t believe she’s 41 yrs old. She looks great.

charlotte on

She looks pretty. I like the hair down better. But…..2 dresses. Really? Trying to be relevant IMO!

Curvatude on

She looks gorgeous!

And the great thing about a wedding dress is the only person who needs to love it is the person wearing it.

Congratulations to them.

Brandy on

Not a big fan of Gabrielle but I do enjoy watching Dwayne play ball…having said that, I hope the marriage lasts. There are many couples (dating and married) that have been faced with infidelity…for those that were able to move past and remain together, I commend you. I don’t think I would have stayed because it would have shown he didnt care or love me enough to practice safe sex or to be faithful/loyal. I would have had to love him from a distance.

Isa on

I see that the newest addition to the family wasn’t welcome in their “family” portrait. Imagine that.

Nikki on

Not impressed. Although his sons are adorable and I know Gab is ready to be a mom, D Wade is not good enough for her. His character is flawed. I hope they have a prenup bcz it won’t last.
