Bachelorette Andi's Engagement Ring from Josh: All the Details (and Photos!)

07/29/2014 at 03:01 PM ET

In his dozen seasons as the Bachelor and Bachelorette franchise’s go-to jeweler, Neil Lane has witnessed a spectrum of emotions from wanna-be suitors perusing engagement rings. Some guys seem nervous (Jake Pavelka). Others appear very self-assured (ahem, Juan Pablo). But when then-contestant Josh Murray, whose proposal to Bachelorette Andi Dorfman aired Monday night, sat down with Lane in the Dominican Republic to look at diamond rings, he was all unbridled enthusiasm.

“Josh was exuberant, sincere and just so psyched up to be there,” says Lane, who showed the former pro baseball player six options. “He is a really genuine, fun guy with a lot of positive energy and was just so excited about the whole process.” Murray, 29, honed in on a 3-carat diamond and platinum ring, set with a central oval-cut stone and surrounded by a tiered halo of 154 round diamonds.

“He wanted to get a pretty, feminine, soft-shaped ring, with a bit of glamour and wow effect,” says Lane, who designed the ring over the course of a month. “When Josh saw it, he knew this was the one. He said he could see it on Andi. He could see himself proposing with it.”

Likewise, Lane says, Murray shared that he was as sure Dorfman was The One right away. “Josh said he and Andi had an instant connection, that the first time he saw her he thought she could be the love of his life — and she is!” he says. “Josh seemed really deeply in love. He was really happy when he was picking out the ring and talking about Andi. Oh my God, he adores her!”

Such a pretty ring. Also, they make a really good-looking couple. Hopefully this one will last.

Quite the sparkler! I noticed Nick glance down at it when Chris announced the engaged couple would reunite after the commercial break.

Can someone please explain to me why when the Bachelorette claims to be all empowering women (haha) and letting them make choices why the chosen dude still has to proffer the ring and make the actual proposal?

The most beautiful ring I have seen on this show! Fitting for such a beautiful couple! Josh’s excitement seemed genuinely sincere! Their journey was worth watching! I truly hope their love is forever!

I love the ring! I like them as a couple. They seem really in love. I do see them lasting. They are lovey dovey like Ashely/JP and Sean/Catherine!

I guess he broke the bank on the ring and had to sell his belongings,
Including his clothes. He looked pretty ridiculous wearing his little
Brothers suits and shirts. Good thing he didn’t sneeze or bend over or
The jacket buttons or pants zipper would have blown off or open.
Pants and jackets were so tight it looked like a wet suit.
But he kept on smilin’ !
