Bachelorette Andi's Engagement Ring from Josh: All the Details (and Photos!)

07/29/2014 at 03:01 PM ET

In his dozen seasons as the Bachelor and Bachelorette franchise’s go-to jeweler, Neil Lane has witnessed a spectrum of emotions from wanna-be suitors perusing engagement rings. Some guys seem nervous (Jake Pavelka). Others appear very self-assured (ahem, Juan Pablo). But when then-contestant Josh Murray, whose proposal to Bachelorette Andi Dorfman aired Monday night, sat down with Lane in the Dominican Republic to look at diamond rings, he was all unbridled enthusiasm.

“Josh was exuberant, sincere and just so psyched up to be there,” says Lane, who showed the former pro baseball player six options. “He is a really genuine, fun guy with a lot of positive energy and was just so excited about the whole process.” Murray, 29, honed in on a 3-carat diamond and platinum ring, set with a central oval-cut stone and surrounded by a tiered halo of 154 round diamonds.

“He wanted to get a pretty, feminine, soft-shaped ring, with a bit of glamour and wow effect,” says Lane, who designed the ring over the course of a month. “When Josh saw it, he knew this was the one. He said he could see it on Andi. He could see himself proposing with it.”

Likewise, Lane says, Murray shared that he was as sure Dorfman was The One right away. “Josh said he and Andi had an instant connection, that the first time he saw her he thought she could be the love of his life — and she is!” he says. “Josh seemed really deeply in love. He was really happy when he was picking out the ring and talking about Andi. Oh my God, he adores her!”

Do either of them have a job? He’s an ex baseball player, how does he make a living now? She left the DA’s office, and her job now is? I think this is fake so both can go on and do TV and movies, neither one seems to have another way to make money!

How come the women don’t buy the guys an engagement ring? Well, feminists?

NH, Josh did not pay for the ring…

all the rings look alike

I thought it was funny when Jimmy Kimmel talked about the proposal and how Andi had accepted the ring that Josh had not paid for. ABC pays for the ring and I think the deal is if the engagement is broken within a two year window, the ring goes back to ABC. I remember early on, there was an issue with one engagement and who was enritled to keep the ring after the couple split. I assume ABC solved it by developing a return policy, which makes sense.

that is the most pretty ring so far I have ever seen on this show.
they are a great couple and I wish them a lifetime of happiness!

I don’t understand getting engaged to someone you’ve just met in a staged setting, but I believe this one has promise because they live nearby. I think that helps a real-life connection as they may know the same people and places outside of the show. Best to them.

Oh, and Nick is a good-looking man. He seemed very desperate and shouldn’t have brought up that they slept together live…buuut it was juicy! LOL. I’m sure a lot of women are interested in him. He’ll be fine.

Josh and Neil Lane make a cute couple-who’s going to break it to Andi?

Hope she broke the news to Josh before Nick did. Was it a test to see who was better in bed. Hope she doesn’t prosecute cases like she chooses men.
