Piper Perabo's Wedding Dress Is Michael Kors - and It's Also a Truly Awesome Fashion Faceoff With Jennifer Lopez

07/28/2014 at 12:20 PM ET

Piper Perabo’s wedding dress is a huge topic of conversation in the PEOPLE office. Yes, it’s a very unique bridal choice. No, we’ve never seen a veil that shade before. But that isn’t what has style editors buzzing. We knew the dress looked familiar, and we finally pin-pointed why. It’s the same striking style Jennifer Lopez wore to the 2013 Met Gala.

Perabo’s silver sequin animal print gown is a twin to the black-and-nude Michael Kors second-skin stunner JLo wore to the Punk-themed fashion fΓͺte. Though we don’t have a back view to compare to Lopez’s (it’s a large keyhole cutout), it appears to be the same design, just in a different, more bridal metallic hue for her NYC wedding to director-producer Stephen Kay on July 26. And to add to the faceoff fun, supermodel Naomi Campbell selected the gown in the silver hue, making it a triple star style showdown.

The Covert Affairs actress definitely gets the award for most unique celebrity wedding dress of the summer — and it’s always fun to see great minds think alike (though in this case, they accessorize somewhat differently). What did you think of Perabo’s gown? Do you think it’s a fun alternative choice? Who wore the Michael Kors design better? Sound off below.

Not sure about the choice for a wedding dress, but it’s her wedding and if she liked it, that’s all that matters. I think it looked better on Jennifer with her curves though.

I wouldn’t wear it, but she looks happy and that’s what matters. More power to her!

I think the dress is ugly as is the veil but so is her husbands suit and hat; it all looks like cr*p. Tacky, tacky, tacky

Renae on

It would have looked better without the veil.

Kind of mean to post a fashion comparison with a BRIDE, don’t you think PEOPLE editors? Would you want to know who wore YOUR dress better? I didn’t think so. Get some class.

It’s super ugly! Especially on your wedding day 😳😳😳 she could of chose something more simple & flattering to her body shape .. Of course Jlo wears it better she the queen style icon .. She didn’t have her own clothing line for nothing 😳😳

Best wishes to the couple .. May they have long & happy marriage 😍😍😍

Jennifer looks amazing in it, Piper not so much.

I think the dress by itself would have fun and different but I don’t like the sliver dress paired with yellow veil.. Dress alone super cute :)

I think the dress is beautiful and very unique for a wedding. What I dont get is the veil. I think the veil should have been another shade, more according to the color of the dress. The veil is what makes the look weird.

It’s not a fair comparison, because JLo is posing and Piper was caught in a candid and not abdominally flattering moment. I like it both ways, but the metallic and yellow clash and wash out blonde Piper. Congrats though!
