Behati Prinsloo's Wedding Look: See the Dress That Inspired Her Custom Marchesa Gown and More Details!

She does work in fashion after all!

For arguably the biggest style moment of her life — her wedding to Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine — model Behati Prinsloo clearly couldn’t go with something off the rack. So of course, she turned to one of the most celebrated, celeb-loved fashion labels to help create her dream gown.

The Victoria’s Secret model went for a custom-made blush Marchesa gown — the result of a four-month collaboration with Georgina Chapman, who established the brand alongside Keren Craig.

“She was inspired by a runway dress from fall 2011,” a rep for Marchesa tells PEOPLE.

The inspiration gown (photo below) features romantic floral appliqués and a tulle train, but Prinsloo’s design had a sleeker silhouette with thin spaghetti straps made of silk and a low back. The bride capped off her look with a floor-length white silk tulle veil.

“She had final fittings a few weeks ago when she was in New York with Adam, while he was doing press for his film Begin Again,” a source tells PEOPLE.

With Levine preoccupied, Prinsloo “and Georgina were finishing the alterations,” the source added.

And her dress wasn’t the only thing customized for her big day. Prinsloo wore the same style Christian Louboutin “Valnina” shoes that hit the runway during the Marchesa spring 2014 show, which she had specifically made in white suede.

The model — who said her closet is filled with jeans, sundresses, vintage rock ‘n’ roll t-shirts and bikinis — has described her personal style as “more like hippie-bohemian.”

I’d like to see the dress, not who she went with. It means nothing to me. I truly hope this is not another play-by-play of one wedding that takes over two weeks to cover.

How exactly is one supped to tell you their thoughts regarding her vision? The article gives zero information about her dress. All we know is that she chose Marchesa and she likes boho chic/hippie fashion. I wouldn’t really call that a description or vision—and it certainly isn’t news worthy. Good job People.

who cares the marriage ain’t going to last anyway and Marchesa is predictable for celebrity wedding dresses like Vera Wang is. It’s refreshing when a celebrity chooses Stella McCartney or Ralph Lauren for their wedding dress granted the first wedding dress Stella actually did was her sister Mary’s for her first marriage and she also did the entire wedding Party for her father’s marriage to Nancy Shevell she refused to do Heather Mills’s dress in 2002

While I am happy for Adam and Behati, I find it disturbing that People is choosing to put this as their number one story over the death of legend James Garner. Very sad.

Until we actually get a picture of her dress, articles are pointless!

Is this article a joke?

Cheri on

I agree. Zero info except the designer.

If this is your idea of “all the details”, you’re deluded. A more accurate headline would read “we still have no actual details on Adam Levine’s wedding” This was a truly pathetic, misleading article.

” All the details”–how about NO details?

I agree with everyone else here. If the lead story is going to be about a significant celebrity wedding I do NOT want to hear about it unless I get to see a head to toe (shoes included) pic of the bride in her dress!! I had to wait until l saw the magazine on stands BEFORE I got to see a head to toe pic of Jessica Simpson!!! Do not make me go through that again People!! If you do I will go elsewhere to find out about celebrity weddings!!! We are in an age of instant gratification. This stunt could have worked like 10 years ago but if the dress is not shown either The same day as the wedding is announced or the very next day people will get annoyed and go elsewhere for what they want!
