Next Top Models? Sailor Brinkley Cook and Willow Smith Strike a Pose for Teen Vogue

07/08/2014 at 04:40 PM ET

When your parents are rich, famous and beautiful, you get cool clothes, fabulous vacations — and, if you’re Sailor Brinkley Cook or Willow Smith, your own career as a model. Both teens recently landed major spreads in Teen Vogue; read on to see what they had to say about fashion, modeling and more.

Smith, 13, invited the cameras into her home — and in some photos, posed in her own clothes — for a candid look at her much-talked-about life with her famous parents, Will and Jada Pinkett Smith. One way her family might differ from yours? “My whole family, we love Cartier,” she confides, adding that her favorite pair of shoes came from Chanel mastermind Karl Lagerfeld himself. “They make me feel like a sophisticated Amazon woman,” she shares.

She says her style has mellowed in recent years (“My style is who I am all the time, and who I am always changes”) though we can expect her to keep us on our toes. And as for that famous, once-whipped-back-and-forth hair, now cut short and dyed blonde? “My hair is super, super, super, super hard to destroy,” she says. “It’s a survivor!”

Brinkley Cook, 16, is the child of supermodel Christie Brinkley and ex-husband Peter Cook, and she’s definitely inherited her mother’s sunny “I’m on a yacht” good looks. And fittingly, she poses in all-American denim looks for her five-page spread, from pencil skirts to overalls. Though she’s ordinarily a fan of skinny jeans and boyfriend jeans, her favorite place to shop for them is her mom’s closet.

“She gives me all her jeans when she gets tired of them,” she says. “I chop off the bottoms if they’re flared or turn them into jean shorts — a bunch of DIY stuff. No bedazzling, though!” Read more of her thoughts on style and summer jobs at (and see more from Smith here).

Lets be real on

I agree that they got there with their name. So what? If I had a famous name and I wanted to model I would take full advantage of that. Also Willow has more confidence then some grown women walking around. I respect that about her

Tiff on

I’m sorry but I don’t think Willow is pretty. Especially how she dresses and with her hair. It seems like she is allowed to act much older than what she is. I never can understand why some parents rush their children to grow up.

Willow Smith is the most obnoxious, pretentious child on earth. I grit my teeth when I read a word out of her spoiled, arrogant mouth and force myself to remember: it’s how she was raised, she’s just a child, she’s a victim of bad parenting, etc. Her parents on the other hand are adults and ought to be held responsible for the horrifically bratty, self-obsessed children they are unleashing on the world with zero concept of reality as the rest of us know it. Shame on that whole family for too many things to list here..they’re awful, incredibly misguided people, and fakes!

Too bad willow has no idea about what is going in the real world. She’s another one that is only talked about because of her parents. She’s not even pretty. So what’s her issue why doesn’t she do something with her fame and fortune except to act goofey?

Name on

That Willow is nasty, inside and out. What a spoiled little pretentious brat. Her parents should be ashamed they are raising such shallow, obnoxious and dim-witted children.

Just being honest on

You know People if your only going to censor comments why even invite your readers to make them?! My orginal comment was not vulgar in the least bit and merely conquered with the majority of the comments listed. Censorship is a necessity when what’s written brings no value to the discussion…not understanding why it was exercised in this case.

I think willow is a pretty girl. People will just hate to hate. Sounds like they are jealous a 13 year old is more successful than they will ever be!!!! She seems like a well rounded and sweet girl to me. She’s growing up beautiful. She can legit model when she’s 18!!(seems like she got her dad’s tall genes)

Why is she Sailor Brinkley and not Cook?

Cheekylady on

Poor willow – that is one very pretentious and ugly child. She has a lot of growing up to do – mentally & physically before she becomes even more of an egomaniac and hits rock bottom by the time she’s 20. A brat and ugly = immature for life.

I think that Sailor Brinkley Cooke looks more like her father than her mother.
