Courtney Love: 'If I See One More F---ing Flower Crown, I'm Going to Kick Somebody's Ass' (and More Style Musings)

06/16/2014 at 03:39 PM ET

Though Courtney Love turns 50 next month, she certainly hasn’t gotten any less outspoken with age. Nor has she become any less ambitious. In an interview with Style.com, the rocker touched on her plans for her own fashion line (she’d like to go to Harvard and become Victoria Beckham-level successful, not necessarily in that order), her passionate love/hate relationship with cheese (she adores it but feels that it’s making her fat) and competing with other stars for clothing (she thinks she’d be more successful in the competition if she laid off the cheese). Below, check out a few of Love’s most intriguing insights into her relationship with the world of fashion.

On her online shopping addiction: “I hate shopping, so I order off of Net-a-Porter. A girl interviewed me for their magazine — this is so awful — she said, “You’re a legend at Net-a-Porter. You’re one of the top five American clients for buying.” I live on Net-a-Porter. And I hate ordering an Italian 42, which is an American 8. I’m investing money in 8s and even 10s in some cases. It’s like, f—, I’ll have to tailor all of this when I lose weight.”

On hating the flower crown trend: “I’m gonna say something, and I’m gonna stand by it, which is this: Flower crowns are over. F— flower crowns. If I see one more f—ing flower crown, I’m going to kick someone’s ass. And let me also say this: If you dig deep enough, you can find a 1986 Details magazine, I’m on the cover in a flower crown, OK?! Talk about ahead of your time! I got thrown a flower crown from an audience member the other day, and I just looked at it and it was plastic flowers and I was like, ‘Nooo! God.'”

On Givenchy’s Riccardo Tisci abandoning her as his muse for another client: “His first muse out the gate was me! Everyone’s putting him on a pedestal right now … I met Riccardo downstairs at the Ritz Hotel in Paris, and he told me he wanted me as his muse. I’m like, ‘Givenchy’s muses have been Audrey Hepburn and Jackie O!’ Then I got fat! Then I got on Atkins and I wasn’t fat anymore, so I could wear sample. You know, when the stakes are high, you do lose weight. When you fall in love, if your career’s depending on it, you will find a way to lose weight … Riccardo doesn’t make stuff for me anymore — he found Kim [Kardashian]! But I still love Riccardo, he’s a dear friend.”

On competing with other divas for red-carpet clothes: “I was doing the cover of Dazed & Confused, and there was a Prada dress — the kind of iconic one made out of chandelier crystals. But I couldn’t use it because Gaga needed it. It’s happened to me before, though. When Jennifer Lopez was in her height of movie stardom, she was the only person who was allowed to wear Valentino and/or Dolce for the entire award show season. We were kind of friendly and I met her for brunch. And apparently she told them, ‘Courtney can wear whatever she wants,’ which was really nice of her.”

On the one fashion house who she can rely on: “Marchesa. They are always f—ing there for me, and I can’t thank them enough. Tiny, medium, and hopefully never large again, but they’ve always been there for me. I know I’m not getting the A-list gown … I know the game, I’m not triple A-list, I’m not Rihanna or Jennifer Lawrence, and I’m not getting that gown.”

For tons more hilarious insights from Love, check out her whole interview at Style.com, and tell us: What do you think of Love’s fashion foibles? Are you surprised to hear whom she competes against for clothes?

A muse? She might be someone’s drug dealer, but not a muse.

That’s actually the most sane interview with Courtney I’ve read or heard in quite some time.

Perhaps that designer is now catering to people with big rears and that’s why Kim K is his muse.

Love her or hate her…you gotta admit she’s honest! That’s a rarity in La-La Land these days.

Love, love, love you, you crazy, imperfect mega watt girl. Takes a licking and keeps on ticking. Love your acting, loved Hole! Love the fact that every person on the punk scene in the SF Bay area in the early 80’s is filled with rage and jelousy for you. Because you my friend, were the real deal and had the balls to go for it – while they continued to live in their Mama’s basement.

She actually sounded like a decent and humble human being during this interview. I did see her on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction ceremony (when Nirvana was inducted this year) and she was a complete train wreck….. I’m not even sure the rest of the folks who walked on stage knew that she was planning to join them up there….. she was sooooooo wasted, it was embarrassing to watch her.

So many haters per usual in the comments section. Boring! Courtney Love has been through so much and I appreciate her honesty. Love her!

This reads like a delusional rant of a lunatic.
