Madonna's Daughter Lourdes Graduates High School, Shares Fashion Regrets and Her Pants-Free Policy

06/12/2014 at 05:46 PM ET

Madonna‘s little girl is all grown up — she’s graduating from high school and blogging about it! And like any good Material Girl, Lourdes Leon, 17, is summing up her four years at N.Y.C.’s LaGuardia High School through a fashionable lens.

Lourdes admits to regretting some fashion choices over the past four years, but has a sense of humor about her evolving style in a new blog post for Material Girl, a clothing line that she designs with her mom.

RELATED PHOTOS: You asked, we found: Star style you’re dying to try!

“Looking back on the past four years of high school means looking back on unfortunate outfits I wore confidently to school (good for me),” she writes. “Oh how I wish I could go back in time and urge my 14-year-old self NOT to wear black rhinestone studded t-shirts with bloody skulls on them…”

However, it appears that her mom’s renowned commitment to style transformation may have rubbed off on her daughter. Lourdes admits that she doesn’t want to limit her style, even if she makes mistakes: “I had to go through that awkward time of ‘trying stuff out’ to figure out what I liked wearing best. I still don’t think I have a defined style, maybe because I don’t want to limit myself to what I should wear.”

This summer, Lourdes plans to refuse to be limited by anything — including pants. “As summer approaches and as I keep forgetting to shave my legs … I greet with open arms crop tops, Adidas sandals, fun bucket hats, and just walking around with no pants on and it being ok.”

Like every high school senior, Lourdes admits to feeling nervous about the future, “I was so excited about ‘being done with school’ and now that I’m actually done I’m like clammy and sweating and nervous because … WHAT?!?!” And like every high school senior, Lourdes doesn’t know who her college roommate will be or what her course load will look like.

But unlike every high school senior, the young designer has an ongoing job to maintain. “Can’t believe I was just starting high school when we launched MG and now I am graduating! These looks will hit Macy’s when I am a college freshman,” she writes on the blog. Something tells us she’s going to have a hard time keeping her roommate out of her closet.

What do you think of Lourdes’s reflection? Any high school-era clothes you regret wearing?

Pretty girl but needs her teeth whitened!

Jamie on

Good for you, Lourdes. Well done and the best of luck.

heather on

She is beautiful.

PeeP on

She looks like Kim Kardashian before the hair removal, nose jobs, filler and Botox.

Yolanda Davis on

Congrats!

Guest on

@ Nicole:

Geez, and people say the magazines put too much pressure to be beautiful. Online commenters are just as bad!

Sarah S. on

Yes, I regret a bunch of things I wore in high school. Namely, my prom outfit. It was 1983 and my prom date thought we should wear black, red and white. I wore a black velvet short dress, red tights (not hose), white mesh hat, white lace gloves and black patent leather low-pumps. No, it did NOT look good. In fact, I should send that photo into Ellen’s show.

Congrats to Lourdes! Seems like yesterday she was a beautiful baby; and now she is a beautiful young lady. I wonder where she will go to college? I wish her the best of luck!! :)

BH on

Oh honey, please shave your legs.

Carrie on

There is something very cool about her but it is making me really old knowing Madge’s daughter graduated high school. Seems just yesterday she was filming Evita (for those too young to remember – she was pregnant with Lourdes at the time).
I really wish online commenters would stop with the nasty critiques on people’s looks – there is no such thing as perfect and this young girl is gorgeous, confident and quite savvy. Seems like she is being raised right, can’t say that for some of the commenters.

Yes as an adult I am concerned about the fashion mistakes of an 18 year old. Fashion mistakes are part of high school and college. It’s called growing up.

Areanna on

I like her teeth that color. That’s how teeth are supposed to look, not blindingly white because they’ve been bleached and who knows what to create an artificial brilliance.

Ellie on

How time flies! I remember seeing her as a baby on the cover of Vogue magazine just after she was born! Good luck in college Lourdes!

MARYANN on

She is such a gorgeous girl!! Congratulations! I wish all the best for you!

Ru on

She is beautiful!

Sue Patrick on

Surprisingly normal!

JRP on

She is adorbs! I love her sense of humor too. Can’t wait to see what she is going to do with her life. I’m sure she’s massively talented.

hautemom on

maybe if she had to work for anything and not just be given a fashion line I would believe this story

lola on

Going to college?!! YAY Lourdes!! You did good at something Madonna.

why on

very pretty!! and graduated from high school.. the jenner girls can’t read and are ugly, like the rest of them…

Bhavana on

She’s a very pretty girl. She looks a lot like her mother except she’s much better looking. Congratulations on her high-school graduation.

kw on

Good gawd people, leave this precious girl ALONE! She has a mega famous mother and could’ve turned out like a Lindsey Lohan/Paris Hilton train wreck. She’s beautiful, sounds normal, and worked hard for her diploma. Kudos Mom! She’s your greatest legacy.

Ginger on

Her eyes are beautiful.

Laura on

Agree with Nicole. That is what happens when you spend your teenage years smoking. She is stunning, but you can see the effects of that habit to her teeth.

WC on

Would really help if she fixed her eyebrows and whitened her teeth. Her brows look like crazy spider legs. Luckily she doesn’t look like her mother.

Marie Mullin on

Eye brows need tweeting.

Marianne on

Wow she’s gorgeous; lucky she seems to have some smarts too. It was a long time ago, but I probably should regret wearing green and yellow, pineapple printed crop pants….and no doubt I wore my bright turquoise and pink (fake) pucci print tank top with that.

Marianne on

The people whining about her teeth….blinding Chiclet white is not natural for everybody…natural teeth colors vary. “The normal color of enamel varies from light yellow to grayish (bluish) white.”

Carolyn on

She is very lovely looking, but the eye makeup is overdone.

Jaymeson on

Doesn’t she shower? How can any female forget to shave their legs, that’s nasty. I do it in the shower everyday, takes but a few seconds. And her eyebrows are horrendous, shape them please and cut back on that hardcore eyeliner, it looks bad.

Anna on

I find it disgusting that people are commenting on a 17 year old girl’s shaved legs, teeth and eyebrows. What is wrong with you?? No wonder young girls have so many body issues.

Sam on

OMGoodness, that happened fast! Seems like just a few days ago she was that awkward 13/14. She is very pretty and sounds like a happy girl.

julz on

Really? With all that money and yellow teeth? There’s no excuse but laziness…Sorry!😕

Kat on

The easiest way to keep legs and armpits smooth and shaved is taking care of it while you take a shower. It only takes a couple of minutes, killing two birds with one stone.

Gretchen on

Thank you, Areanna, that is a sensible, intelligent comment about Lourdes’ teeth. So tired of the fake white, easily stained teeth on celebs. People’s teeth are different colors, and should be at least in the same color range normal for them. Blinding white is not even real looking, let alone attractive. Just as fake as botox and fillers!!

dan on

Pretty girl. I’ve never found Madonna attractive.

Brandi on

@ Marie Mullin “tweeting” is not something a pair of eyebrows should be able to do…ever. The correct term is tweezing (other options include threading, waxing, or plucking…just depending on one’s personal preference). I could very easily say that you need to become reacquainted with a dictionary, but who am I to say that? Maybe you are fine with being one of the “not-so-sharp” tools in the box, just like Lourdes might be fine with the way her brows are. She’s a 17-year-old girl…back off.

disneymommy75 on

Please whiten your teeth (dirty smoker) and trim your brows. B!tch needs to be landscaped.

disneymommy75 on

PLEASE whiten the dirty smoker teeth and get a crew in for those brows. They were hideous when your mom rocked them too.

laura on

Agree with the teeth – no doubt a smoker (yuk)

Jill on

To anyone here that commented in a negative way on this beautiful girl’s looks: shame on you.

guest on

It could have been worse, at least Dennis Rodman ain’t her daddy.

Guark on

Please don’t forget to shave your underarms.

Ange on

I thought she was older. My son is 17 and I do not recall being pregnant the same time as Madonna. I would have remembered that.

Rosie1977 on

@Brandi thank you…good Lord, I would love to see what some of these people commenting look like. She’s a kid and if your children were crucified for what they looked like on an Internet site for their teeth and eyebrows, you would be screaming about bullying. Leave her appearance alone. It’s just a short little article about a young woman being excited about her future not a catty dumping ground for people who obviously have nothing better to do but tear a 17 year old apart.

Nrre on

The daughter of the most famous women in the world will go to the College,( Great) seems a sensible and normal, pretty girl…

good luck lola!.

Nanu 08 on

Pretty girl but needs some maintenance…….fix eyebrows and shave legs

Bye Nicole on

Nicole you need to clean your mouth, judgement stinks.

So what if her teeth aren’t super white, if the girl stood there like a perfect barbie then you would be judging her as well. Nevermind the media pressuring young girls, they have all that from you.

Jan on

Well, that’s the thing about fashion – styles come and go. But at the time you’re wearing it, it doesn’t feel like a mistake at all. So why have regrets?

Dee on

Congrats to Lourdes. Enjoy your future.
What is it with rag mags stating that ‘So and So is All Grown Up!’?
No, Lourdes is 17, not even legally an adult yet. I’ve read this about Anna Nicole Smith’s little girl and she’s only 7 years old.
Entertainment media is ridiculous at times.

Monica on

Gorgeous girl, intelligent, well-spoken…people have questioned a lot of Madonna’s choices, but being a great Mom, is a choice that she made and owned – good job, Madge!

46yearoldmom on

Did she go to a public high school? That amazes me with all of her mothers money. She’s starting to look more like her Dad.

Ceeteefeebs on

Good for her for planning to go to college. Grrrl, if you think you’re “done” with school because you’ve made it through high school, you ain’t seen nothin’ yet!

As for some of rotten women posting on here: get a life. You’re pathetic for bagging on an 18-year-old.

madonnasworld on

Madonna is a super mom, proof her children are happy and not spoiled rotten, Lola is a very talented young lady with a great head on her shoulders. Obviously some people here don’t like to see people succeed but that’s why they are hiding behind a computer all day, while others change the world for the better.

madonnasworld on

Madonna is a super mom, and should be so proud, Lola has a great head on her shoulders, good luck enjoying what the future holds. For those here who are jealous of those that succeed, remember , the first thing to do, if you want to Change that, is to stop hiding behind a computer . You all sound and must look pathetic.

LA on

I think her Father, Carlos Leon, has had a great influence in his daughter’s life. She seems very well grounded. Congrats to her and best wishes for a bright and healthy future.

Steen on

Nicole–Have her teeth whitened??? ugh-what a horrible thing to say–you are a pettier person because of it. She looks great and seems like she has a fantastic head on her shoulders. Congrats to her and her mom. Madonna must be proud.

guest on

Everyone one keeps saying good job mom. Lola lives with her father. So good job dad on raising a good daughter.

x2023 on

Grounded young lady. Congrats on going to college. Much better than other trashian celebs who use their teenage daughters for money and to raise display them as bratty puppets. Best of luck to her. Education is something no one can ever take away from you!

Jocas on

She’s gorgeous and everyting looks natural. I hope she keeps it that way. Congratulations….you have a bright future ahead!

Nrre on

Guest Lola lives with Madonna no with her fat her!

singlenear40 on

She is beautiful. I can’t believe there are people bashing her. Grow up people. Also, her teeth look just fine. My teeth have a yellow tint to them, and it doesn’t mean that I smoke. That is just their natural color.

Sue on

Nice unibrow.

CDS on

Nicole, I was just thinking the same thing about her teeth as I just looked at her photo. She has beautiful hair.

Julesy on

Lourdes is a beautiful girl and seems well grounded for having such a high profile mom. I do prefer her dark brown hair rather than the jet black hair on her.

mjh on

Ugh, self-centered like her mother.

Venividivici on

Wow! I can’t believe some of these comments, whiten her teeth and pluck her eyebrows? Lourde is comfortable in her own appearance, I think that’s beautiful. I wish her the best of luck. Congrats to her for graduating high school and continuing her education.

Debbie on

I think she looks like another Kardashian girl. The teeth need help.
