Justin Bieber Brings His Brand of Man Glamour to Cannes

05/22/2014 at 05:17 PM ET

For many young (and old!) Hollywood hunks, the Cannes Film Festival is a time to up your fashion game — think Ryan Gosling’s casual seaside cool, Channing Tatum’s relaxed chic or Ryan Reynolds shutting down the red carpet in white tie. And then there’s Justin Bieber‘s take on the event, which is done in his own inimitable style.

First up, we have Yacht Attire à la Bieber, which the singer wore to party on Roberto Cavalli’s luxurious boat. At a bash where the women were in sequins and heels and the men wore ties, Bieber interpreted the dress code to include a constrasting-sleeved denim jacket, a tie-dye sports jersey, baggy basketball shorts and some cool slip-ons, a nod to the boating culture in Cannes. A chain and a big smile completed the look.

Next up, Bieber wore what we assume is next year’s Met Gala theme: baggy board shorts with exposed Calvins, slip ons and, oh yeah, no shirt. This is what the French call très chic, right? Just kidding, though we will give Bieber points for working on his fitness. Marky Mark would be so proud.

At another swanky Cannes soiree, this one hosted by jeweler de Grisogono, Bieber brought a more elegant spin to his favorite leather harem pants with a blue leather button-up shirt and pristine white high tops. Those shoes probably aren’t what most people associate with “sparkle” at Cannes, but you can’t deny that they are dazzling in their own right.

And finally, Bieber attended the amfAR gala in the most surprising look of all: a Dolce & Gabbana double-breasted suit with sleeves that are either purposefully 3/4-length or have been rolled up, plus a skinny tie and totally normal shoes. While this is definitely a step in the right direction, the next time Bieber cleans up, we’d love to see some better-fitted pants (though we know a slim pair of trousers is his enemy, we believe he can power through).

What do you think of Bieber’s tour de pants in Cannes?

Look, he has disgusted me with his childish “adult” behavior. But if he would stop wearing the diaper pants, he would look so much better. The last pic especially shows his potential to look nice and be taken seriously…again, if he would just stop wearing the baby britches.

Lost soul. Written all over his face. And no money in the world can fix that.

The 4th picture is bad. What is up with those pants? Actually you know what? They are all bad, he has no fashion sense what so ever. 🙀

This is a boy, not a man. He proves it over and over again.

As much as it pains me to say, he looks pretty dapper in the short sleeve suit. The pants are a little too snug, but much better than we’ve seen him look in ages.

@Eri A wanna be raper….? Really? Perhaps you mean rapper.
