Billboard Music Awards Hair: From Carrie Underwood's Dark Blonde Hue to Chrissy Teigen's Wig (Yes, Wig!)

You might have been too distracted by her dramatic Oriett Domenech gown (or her super-toned legs during this duet performance with Miranda Lambert) to notice that there was something different about Carrie Underwood at the Billboard Music Awards. The singer’s hair is now a darker shade of blonde. (And if you did notice, congratulations: You’re a pro celebrity hair change spotter.)

“It’s just a little bit darker,” Underwood, who took home the Milestone Award Sunday night, told PEOPLE on the red carpet. “I don’t think I’d want to or could even pull off being a brunette, but it’s just nice sometimes to change it up a bit. I’ve been super blonde forever, and I feel like there are a lot of super-blonde ladies in music so I thought I’d darken it just a little bit.”

And she wasn’t the only star to sport a new do. Chrissy Teigen joined husband John Legend on the carpet debuting blunt eyebrow-concealing bangs, which had us doing the “Real or Faux” debate all night. Turns out it was a wig.

“Heading back to the east coast! thank you for all your hard work, wigfriend!” the supermodel captioned the above photo on Instagram, showing her adorable French bulldog Pippa wearing the hairpiece.

The third most dramatic hair moment of the night goes to Lorde, who ditched her signature voluminous curls for a super-straight slicked back look courtesy of Wella Professionals celebrity stylist, Andy LeCompte. (It was a combination of a flat brush blowout, straightening iron and Wella Professionals Pearl Styler styling gel that tamed her tresses.)

Lorde, 17, brought home a bunch of awards for her debut album “Pure Heroine,” and teamed her sleek tresses with a feather-embellished ensemble that almost looked alive. (With plumes like that, we totally get why she went for pin-straight strands.)

Who do you think had the best hair last night? Do you like Underwood’s darker blonde hue? Share your thoughts below.

It is worth mentioning that the toned down Nikki Minaj looked AMAZING…never thought I would say that. Lorde…please lose the Goth look it is horrible. I didn’t love Chrissy’s wig, but the dress was cute, and she is sweet.

carrie is attractive but not with that makeup

Her eye makeup in the current picture looks hideous.

Love carrie but hated her make up it’s way to heavy and the eyeliner on one eye is messed up.

Carrie usually looks amazing but not last night. Those lashes look ridiculous but her hair does look pretty. The dress was not flattering either, something was just off

A little darker blonde…hardly worth an article about it. :(

Here’s what I saw for the hour that I could stand to watch, people who are manufactured who can barely sing. Even my daughters mentioned that there is not much talent today, not like when I was growing up! The music award shows are horrible, you have to go digging to find talent, because for the most past you won’t find it at the Billboard awards
