Jennifer Aniston Admits to Air Drying Her Hair (and Shares Even More Details on 'The Rachel')

05/15/2014 at 01:56 PM ET

Warning: If you have been experiencing Jennifer Aniston hair fatigue, don’t read any further. But if you can never get enough details on the actress’s famous mane (you’re probably still absorbing her brunette bob), then you’ll find this post exciting, because not only does she give never-before-released scoop on “The Rachel” haircut, but it turns out her daily hair routine is similar to the average, non-famous female.

“The ‘Rachel’ was one of the hardest hairstyles to maintain,” Aniston told ABC News in a recent interview. “Me and the blow dryer and the hairbrush weren’t meant for each other. It really was a hairdo. When Chris [McMillan, her longtime stylist] would style it my hair would be great, it would look gorgeous. But then when I was left to my own devices, it wouldn’t look the same.”

But now, 10 years following the Friends finale, the star, 45, is all about keeping things simple. And by simple, we mean not washing her hair every day and even the occasional air dry. “I don’t get a lot of product build-up with Living Proof and my hair doesn’t get dirty straight away,” she said. “I wash my hair with No Frizz Shampoo and Conditioner. And with PHD Styling Treatment I can air-dry and style my hair in 10 minutes, when it used to take 25 minutes.”

In addition to serving as the spokesperson for Living Proof, Aniston is also an investor in the beauty brand, which just announced the release of a new skin adhesive Neotensil, touted as “Spanx” for your face. But we don’t expect to see the actress in any commercials for the skincare launches, since she’s currently the face of Aveeno. For now, it’s all about the hair. (Though she admits to loving her low-key look on the set of Cake: “It was a relief not to have to go through the usual hair and makeup routine,” she said of the filming. “It was very liberating to be that vulnerable in such an unglamorous way.”)

Aniston appreciates the hype around her hair, but reveals that she still finds all the mane attention surprising. “It’s funny and entertaining in a way and it’s of course very flattering to say the least,” she tells ABC. “But I always have such a chuckle when I hear people saying I have great hair because as a kid it was always a challenge.”

I love Jenn. She has great hair because she uses great products but the most important I think is that she has a fabulous stylist! I wish I had a stylist like hers. She looks beautiful and the color is fantastic!

When you give interviews about your hair, it is time to STOP giving interviews.

Im sure thats why she cut her hair and changed the color, its called attention and a big ego. At least its not about Avino which is on every page of peoples mag

When the only interesting thing about you is your hair then yikes. What a waste of words and time to read this fluff piece. I swear Jennifer’s PR has People on speed dial.

Her hair has been a topic of discussion for years (because it pretty much always looks gorgeous) and she just launched a hair care line. Why WOULDN’T she be talking about/asked about her hair? It’s called smart PR. Don’t forget that on top of being actors, most successful people in Hollywood aspire to be smart business people as well.

No, it is NOT funny and entertaining to hear about about her hair! People are rather bored with it. Yes, her hair looks nice, but so what.

Theres no hype over you or your hair. Get over yourself!

How conceited can You be? It sounds like She believes the hype that she’s actually attractive but if it’s only your hair anyone comments about that should tell U something. Woof woof

I wish the People magazine employee that is in love with Jennifer Aniston would get fired. There is nothing interesting about her, her 5 minutes of fame have been over for a while now and you are still wasting space in the magazine I paid for !!!
