The Met Gala hosts scores of fashion pros and red carpet vets year after year. But sometimes, some of the most surprising, noteworthy or just plain awesome looks belong to starlets who are still in high school. This year was no exception: Chloë Moretz, 17, Hailee Steinfeld, 17, and Kendall Jenner, 18 (from left), all turned our heads during their stylish walk up those famous Metropolitan Museum stairs.
For both Moretz and Jenner, it was their first-ever turn down the Met Gala red carpet, and both were determined to make an impact. Moretz was dressed in a piece from Chanel’s 2014 Métier d’Arts collection (for which Kristen Stewart is the face), keeping her hair half-pulled back and her accessories minimal. Jenner, on the other hand, cranked up the volume in a custom blush mermaid Topshop gown and 82 carats of Chopard diamonds looped around her neck.
Steinfeld was making her second appearance at the Met Gala, and she followed up her effortlessly chic debut with an equally stylish gown from Prabal Gurung (see the back here!). When PEOPLE asked what she liked most about the dress, she gushed, “Honestly everything. The pockets — honestly, thank you, [Prabal] for the pockets. The jewelry is Van Cleef & Arpels, which is another thing I’m freaking out about. I’m like, I can’t walk out the door!”
