What to Wear This Weekend, From Date Night to Brunch
Got any big plans this weekend? We’re hoping to get a little sun, grab a fun bite with friends and overall just relax. Below, see the three outfits we plan to wear while doing all of the above.
Saturday night: We often recommend something sexy or sweet in this space — it is date night, after all. But this week, we’re going to flip the script and recommend Kim Kardashian‘s casually sexy jeans-and-blazer look. It’s comfy, it’s cute, it’s easily dressed up a bit with heels — and isn’t your boyfriend always telling you he likes you best in sweats and no makeup anyway? This is the date night version of that. (This is minimal makeup for Kim — we’d recommend just a dusting of bronzer and a glossy pink lip and mascara for your own outing.)
You’ve already got the perfect jeans, heels and tee (as any good StyleWatcher would) so just add a chic white blazer to pull it all together. This Asos one has cool details but is still super classic — it’s worth the $100 investment in our opinion!
Sunday brunch: And also in a What to Wear twist, we’re suggesting you get all gussied up for brunch with your girlfriends. Ordinarily we send you out in boyfriend jeans and a sweater, but why not wow the girls with a fashion-forward crop top look à la Jordana Brewster? The actress (wearing a J Brand Blazer, Kate Spade Saturday cropped sweater, Monique Lhuiller pants, Jimmy Choo heels and an Emm Kuo clutch — whew!) looks chic and fun in her ensemble and you can easily pull this off too (just ask Mindy Kaling). Going to Easter brunch? Pair the pants with a cream button-up and pastel sweater instead!
Feeling brave enough to try bright high-waist pants? We believe in you! Try these Wyatt cobalt/navy colorblocked pants (they’re forgiving and very cute and $35 so if you wear them once, no big deal) with the white blazer from Saturday night.
Monday morning:It’s still tights weather in much of the country, and Emmy Rossum’s striped Peter Som for Kohl’s Designation dress is just as cute with stockings and a fitted jacket as it is without. (And work appropriate either way!) For her L.A. outing, she wore it with Jimmy Choo flats and a bright blue bag (plus some seriously lustworthy waves). If you warm it up, we’d recommend booties, a cool bracelet and statement earrings.
