Kate Gets Wrapped Up in the Perfect Print Diane von Furstenberg Dress (Which Already Sold Out, of Course)

Earlier this year, Diane von Furstenberg celebrated the 40th anniversary of her iconic wrap dress. Now the designer has cause to celebrate again. On Thursday, Duchess Catherine wore the DVF “Patrice” dress when she and Prince William traveled to Australia’s Blue Mountains to visit with residents of an area affected by devastating brushfires last fall.

Unfortunately for those who already have out their credit cards, the Ikat-print cotton dress, which retails for $325, sold out less than 10 minutes after Kate’s appearance, which is not surprising.

Kate has worn (and reworn) DVF in the past. “Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, is truly a DVF girl,” von Furstenberg Tweeted when the Duchess wore her “Maja” dress for an appearance in L.A. in July 2011. Just a few weeks later, Kate recycled the green silk frock for the wedding of Zara Phillips.

For her Australian outing, Kate paired her DVF wrap dress with two familiar accessories: her Stuart Weitzman “Muse” clutch and “Corkswoon” wedges.

Dear Kate,

Please, your Royal Highness, part your hair on the side and get rid of the bouncy 80’s curls.

Love, the 2000’s

No wonder it sold out. Adorable, and flattering on everyone.

Hey, there on

Her hair is parted on the side and I bet you are infinitely more pulled together than the duchess.

She does have a part on the side. Why should she conform to trends that you think are appropriate? Her hair and style suit her well. Do you suggest she shave half her head like Miss Cyrus or something?

Amy on

I think what you meant to say was “please Kate conform yourself to the same played out look that every girl who lacks individuality wears right now.” Perhaps she should throw on a pair of aviators, some boyfriend jeans and get a boob job too?

I wish I could wear wrap dresses…unfortunately I am very short-waisted and my hips stick out in the wrong areas. Anyway, I love the dress–no wonder it sold out!

Kate is the epitome of class, elegance and style. I have loved everything she has worn on this trip!

So pretty on

@Smithy .. in what universe is that hair 80’s? She’d need tighter curls, a bigger buffant-ish style that looks like a big ol’ football and about 20 pounds of Aqua Net. She has neither and her hair is parted to the side. She has always parted her hair the same way.

— Methinks you don’t know hair.
