L’Wren Scott’s tragic and untimely death made a major impact on the many celebrities who have worn her designs (see some of our favorites here), as well as many in the fashion world who loved and revered her. And now in the wake of the terrible news of her passing, her colleagues and those stars who knew her well are grieving the loss of the tastemaker on social media.

Scott, 49, was found dead of an apparent suicide inside her Manhattan apartment Monday. Aside from running her own label known for its precision and attention to detail, she collaborated with a number of brands including Banana Republic and Bobbi Brown cosmetics and Caudalie. She was also a guest judge on the Season 9 finale of Project Runway.

“It’s fun to see the ideas in your head spring to life,” Scott, the longtime girlfriend of Mick Jagger, said in a 2009 interview with The Daily Beast. “Because it all starts in your mind.”

Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour released the following statement expressing her condolences. “I am deeply saddened by the loss of L’Wren Scott. L’Wren was a total perfectionist, someone who absolutely embodied everything her marvelous clothes stood for: strength of character combined with a confident and powerful style. In person, L’Wren was always unbelievably generous, gracious, kind, and so much fun. Her old world American manners and charm were from another time, but her sensibility was always fiercely modern. We will all miss her.”

So sorry to hear. L’Wren Scott designed beautiful, timeless dresses.

She was a very talented designer but she was, above all else, a human being. She had a family, dreams, fears – just like the rest of us. I’m sure these celebrities’ comments are sincere (although some seem so more than others), but I hope everyone realizes that despite the designer clothes, the impeccable style, the luxurious life and apparent talent as a designer, this woman was in a tremendous amount of pain and mental anguish. Life is precious – remember what is important and that however it may appear, EVERYONE goes through turmoil of some kind. Be good to yourself and be grateful for today.
