Throwback Thursday, Beyoncé Edition: Makeup Artist Francesca Tolot Shares Her Favorite Bey Red Carpet Looks of All Time

03/13/2014 at 01:43 PM ET

Beyoncé is fearless when it comes to experimenting with makeup. (Okay, let’s be honest, Beyoncé is fearless when it comes to everything … have you listened to/seen the video for “Drunk in Love”?) Back to the point, Bey’s had her share of memorable beauty moments. So in honor of Throwback Thursday, we caught up with her longtime makeup artist Francesca Tolot (who has worked with her on everything from music videos to tours to ad campaigns) to talk about some of her client’s best red carpet moments.

“Beyoncé is 100 percent involved when we are creating the look for an event,” Tolot tells PEOPLE. “Sometimes I’ll show her some visuals, but most of the time it’s casual and she trusts my vision.” Not surprisingly, the superstar doesn’t have much time to prep a beauty vision board of her own. “There is usually no time to conduct a trial … we create in the moment.” Bey has also learned some tricks of her own, and doesn’t need a 24/7 glam squad, adds Tolot. “She mastered the whole makeup process, she is really good at doing her own makeup.”

So what are Tolot’s fave Bey looks? From left, she shares her thoughts:

1. 2005 Academy Awards:
I gave her a very classic and timeless look, but most important it’s dear to me because it was my first red carpet with Beyoncé, and I believe it was her first red carpet for the Oscars.

2. 2007 American Music Awards:
I love the blue eyeshadow and liner, which was inspired by the blue accent at the top of her dress, as well as her dewy golden cheeks. I like this because she looks modern and it makes her eyes pop.

3. 2008 Grammy Awards:
Although I used glitter on the eyes and lips to reflect the metallic of the dress, using warmer tones kept her looking sultry and feminine.

And while we’re totally feeling Tolot’s picks, we have to say we the #TBT moment Solange shared on Twitter (below) is pretty major. Do you agree with the makeup artist? Or do you have another favorite look? Share your thoughts below!

I like her much more curvier. But as long as she is Happy, it just seems that Hollywood/Entertainment take what makes them beautiful and puts them on a hamster wheel of unrealistic expectations.

Beyonce is beautiful but lets not forget that plastic surgery has played a role in this.

She is beautiful and from what I can see a carbon copy of her mother who is also a beautiful woman. Considering that she is one of the few entertainers who has openly posted and shared pictures of herself as a young child, pre-adolescent trough young adulthood her features have matured but remained the same. Same nose, lips, eye shape. Sure there’s been enhancement with makeup like with any entertainer or woman. But the bones are there and as hard is it for some women to give a compliment this girl just has it…it’s true and no plastic surgery gave her that face, there is no tight blotted puffy fake face like Kim K. It’s God given…no need to hate! Lol

I think she is pretty, but not what I would call beautiful. She is no Halle Barry.
