Oprah Gives Essence Cover Dress to a Fan Via Twitter

Have you ever looked at a celebrity wearing a beautiful dress on the cover of a magazine and thought to yourself, “I wish I could wear that dress!” So has Atlanta resident Brandi (aka Twitter user @snobaby28), though she took it a step further: She asked Oprah Winfrey if she could have the dress the megastar wore on the March cover of Essence. Even more surprising? Oprah said yes!

Brandi Tweeted at Winfrey about her love for the dress, joking “I know u won’t wear again.” Said Oprah, “You’re right, I won’t,” and directed Brandi to reach out to her assistant to get the exchange underway.

And because Oprah always delivers, a week later, the dress was in Brandi’s hands.

The Brian Rennie for Basler number has a structured bodice and a slightly ombré feathered and fringed skirt — perfect for a glamorous wedding, which Brandi seems to have in mind. “Oprah said the dress was special, but just too fussy and feathery for her to wear on the red carpet so we lucked out!” says editor in chief Vanessa Bush of the dress’s new life.

Black or white, successful or not, free or expensive…..it was very nice.

That was a really nice thing to do…

“Black Women Taking Over Hollywood” and “This Year has been a kick with a Capital K-I-C and a Double K” – yeah, nothing racist about this magazine or Oprah. Right. Oh, that’s right, only

Can’t believe the idiotic Oprah hate messages on here. Oprah is amazing, lovely, generous, and has a huge heart. I love that she gave her dress to a fan just from a simple Twitter request. It’s highly unusual and you are def in a minuscule percentage of people who don’t like Oprah. Oprah is an awesome celeb and I would love to read more about her and see less headlines on utterly useless, arrogant, obnoxious celebs like those annoying Kardashians and Miley!

WTF? you people are awful! She gave it to a black? Are you kidding me? She didn’t pay for it? She is a tightwad? OMG! You sound like racist pigs and yes, I’m white (most often to my shame.)

The same thing happened to me a year or so ago. I was watching “Leave It to Niecy” starring Niecy Nash and I loved the summer dress she was wearing so I jokingly asked if I could have it and she said yes, we exchanged messages and within a few months the dress was delivered to my home!

Her name is Oprah, not Ohpra.
You are correct, she is a person, who happens to be black.
She gave the dress to another person, who happens to also be black.
She did build a school in South Africa for young underprivileged girls.
She has also given millions of dollars of her money to other initiatives that she supports.
I’m curious what you have done for others lately besides show your own racist side with your uneducated, poorly written, hateful comments? Please let us know.

Here’s wishing the world was full of racist, greedy, tightwads like Ohpra… and perhaps a few less people like you.
