Pharrell Trades Mountie Hat for Shorts on Oscars Red Carpet

No, he didn’t wear his favorite Vivienne Westwood mountie hat, but Pharrell Williams is still making fashion waves by bearing his legs on the Oscars red carpet.

Williams, 40, rocked shorts with his Lanvin tuxedo top. It’s a bold yet practical move — after all, the 60 degree temperature may be cold for Los Angeles, but he’s sure to work up a sweat performing his hit “Happy” during the awards show, which is also nominated for Best Song. The star also coordinated his look with wife Helen Lasichanh who selected a white blazer, silk necktie and coordinating trousers.

Still, the risky choice does have its drawbacks. The music mogul told E!’s Ryan Seacrest he thought something dropped on his exposed leg, only to realize a gown had swept across his skin. Given all the gorgeous, full-skirted dresses we’ve spotted, it seems Pharrell is in for a long night of close encounters.

We love the look, but we’re still hoping Williams brings out a festive headpiece when he hits the Oscars stage.

Tell us: What do you think of his unconventional bottoms? Do you miss the Vivienne Westwood Mountie?

FYI that his wife not his girlfriend.

Why does his wife see the need to replicate what he wears? She does that often, This look does not work for her. It barely works for him. Come on, sometimes the traditional dress for this kind of occasion is the right call-put trendy on the shelf sometimes. They both missed the mark.

Shorts for a formal event are disrespectful on anyone but a child under 2.

His legs aren’t ‘bear,’ the word is bare.
