Michelle Obama Breaks First Lady Jumpsuit Barrier
Michelle Obama has never been shy about making style waves as the First Lady, whether it’s by wearing H&M on the Today Show or admitting her bangs were a “midlife crisis.” But those are taking a backseat to this major fashion moment: Michelle Obama has crossed the jumpsuit threshold.
Several weeks ago, the Washington Post informed us that Obama was about to make jumpsuits happen, after she was reported to have worn one in red to her 50th birthday party. And she appears to be delivering on that promise, hitting the new Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon in a flowy, silky black St. John number with a cowlneck. She added a wide black leather belt and pointed kitten heels, plus gold-and-gemstone earrings.
The First Lady was on The Tonight Show to promote her “Let’s Move” anti-childhood obesity campaign. After participating in a skit that had her feeding kale chips to Fallon and Will Ferrell dressed as teenage girls (a must-watch), she asked Americans to submit photos that show “how they move” on social media with the hashtag “#Letsmove.” She also hinted that the President and Vice President may be sharing “Let’s Move” photos of their own.
What do you think of this First Lady fashion first? Think we’ll be seeing more in this vein from Obama?
