The Showdown: Cameron Diaz in Oscar de la Renta (2010) vs. Sandra Bullock in Marchesa (2010)
The Editor’s Pick: Cameron Diaz

Why She Chose It:

How are these things supposed to start? This was such a hard decision! They both look perfect! But aw shucks, I’ve just got to pick one! Well, sorry, Sandy, but this was an easy choice for me. Cameron wins by a long shot. And if the majority of you don’t vote in agreement with me, I’m going to be very, very surprised.

Check out the full Oscars Gown Showdown bracket here!

The phrases “breath-taking” and “jaw-dropping” are severely overused in my opinion, but both apply to Cameron’s dazzling strapless Oscar de la Renta gown. The champagne hue, the scattered paillettes and the vintage-inspired vibe made the dress such a showstopper. It was Rachel Zoe, the actress’s stylist at the time, who spotted this number on the Fall 2010 runway, and I think the confection on Cameron is the most amazing thing Rachel has ever conceived (no offense to Skyler and Kai Berman).

Sure, Sandra’s Marchesa gown was a similar color and also had the Old Hollywood thing going on, but the silhouette of her dress doesn’t even come close. When Cameron walked down the red carpet, it was almost like she was floating thanks to that full skirt.

Come on, people, isn’t the choice easy? Okay, fine, if you disagree with me, I can respect that (but please defend your choice in the comments since I’m curious to know what you’re thinking!). And if you’re a swing voter, let the hair be your tie-breaker (how amazing do Cameron’s side-swept waves look?).

Voting is now closed but click here to see who came out on top — and to weigh in on today’s matchup: Penélope Cruz vs. Charlize Theron!

I’m sorry, completely disagree! I think Sandy looks like a Queen to Cameron’s princess. Sandy was elegant, regal, flawless, just sheer perfection.

I definitely gasped and was more transfixed by Cameron’s dress, but both are beautiful.

I 100% have to go with Sandra Bullock here. While Cameron’s dress is great, I do not think the hair and makeup goes with it. I also think the silhouette is pretty common and boring. There have been several metallic dresses the past 5 years similar to it. I thought Sandra’s dress looked like pure liquid metallic, and the sheer effect over the cleavage was amazing as well. Not to mention, I do not think Sandra Bullock has ever looked better.

Sandra all the way, unique, lavishing, and just plan gorgeous especially on her. That dress couldn’t look any better on any one else. Fit for a queen…I mean best actress!

Sandy, of course. Nina Dobrev and Sandy Bullock – my queens:D
