Cameron Diaz: I Have No Regrets About Getting (Very) Personal In My Body Book!
When famously fit Cameron Diaz writes a book about the body, it’s no surprise that other women pay attention. But the actress says she couldn’t have anticipated the reaction to The Body Book being this overwhelmingly positive, from younger girls and older women alike.
“It has been really great. I hear from people on Twitter and Instagram … I appreciate the love and feedback and I like to retweet them,” she told PEOPLE at the TAG Heuer Fifth Avenue Flagship Store Opening in N.Y.C. on Tuesday night, where she was announced as the brand’s celebrity ambassador.
Diaz, who stunned in a Giambattista Valli coat, says writing The Body Book was more about exploring how the body works on a cellular level and less about teaching people how to diet and exercise.
“You have so many more options because you’re not looking at other people to tell you what to do,” she says. “It’s not about ten days or two weeks, it’s about every single day for the rest of your life. Being engaged with your body and meeting its needs and living in it the best way you can.”
For her, that means “water, physical activity and good nutrition” to keep things working the way they should. “When I’m sweating and physically active and getting oxygen into my body, everything changes. My mood. My attitude — every moment I have in the day is different when I have those things in my life,” she says.
As for some of the more personal things she put in the book — including the section “Praise the Pubes” that encourages women to embrace their pubic hair, the Annie star has no regrets. “I put everything in there! As much as I could!” she says.
